Brenda Maynard - CHRO

Brenda joined the Twelve Oaks team in July 2021 and brings over 15 years of progressive experience in Human Resource Management as well as over 25 years of experience within the Healthcare field. Prior to her role at Twelve Oaks, she had served as the Director of Human Resources with Universal Health Services and Ascension Healthcare. Brenda began her career in healthcare as a personal care attendant and has worked in various healthcare roles such as a job coach, recreation aide, case manager, and program supervisor. In 2004, Brenda obtained her Master's Degree in Human Resources and Organizational Development from Friends University in Wichita, KS. Having lived in Kansas most of her life, she moved to Florida in 2017 and absolutely loves beach life!

Crawford Winstead

Crawford relocated to Navarre after spending time in Utilization Management at Sierra Tucson in Tucson, AZ. Prior to Sierra Tucson he was working at Wilmington Treatment Center in Wilmington, NC, in the Utilization Management department as well as spending some time as a Clinical Tech. Crawford grew up on the Outer Banks in Kitty Hawk, NC and spent much of his free time near or in the water surfing, fishing or just hanging out at the beach or on a boat. He graduated with a B.A. from the University of North Carolina in Asheville in 2006. Crawford decided to become involved in substance abuse to help people struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues and to be of service to others. He has been with Acadia Healthcare since 2013.

Heather Joseph - CEO

Heather Joseph has 20 plus years of experience in healthcare operations in both physical and behavioral health. Heather began her career in physical healthcare working in OBGYN, Orthopedics and acute care systems. In 2011, Heather began working in marketing for a community mental health system in Alabama where her love for behavioral health formed. In 2016, she joined UHS where she most recently was the Chief Executive Officer of River Oaks in New Orleans, Louisiana. While at UHS, she led multiple military mental health programs, and both her husband and brother are retired from the USCG. She's excited to join Twelve Oaks and relocate to the Navarre/Pensacola area.

Jenny Nelson - CFO

Jenny initially came to Twelve Oaks as a Project CFO before her and her husband Michael have decided to move to the area. She worked at several facilities holding divisional positions before coming to Twelve Oaks. Her first degree is in Music and she taught voice and piano, performed in and directed choirs and plays for many years before going back to school to get her Masters of Accountancy and landing in the Healthcare Industry. She is married to Michael Nelson and they have five children and six grandchildren who reside in Tennessee, Alabama, and California. Jenny is very supportive of clients and families assisting with their financial needs for treatment.

John C. Hayes

Job Titles:
  • Psychiatrist
Dr. Hayes holds a medical deg ree from the University of South Alabama (1983), and he gra duated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Birmi ngham Southern College (1979). He was also inducted as an honorary commander of the 33 rd Fighter Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, in 2013. Dr. Hayes holds certification with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), making him uniquely qualified to handle co-occurring disorders. He has held multiple medical director positions and most recently was medical director of the IOP and PHP programs at West Florida Behavioral Health and West Florida Psychiatric Pavilion. Dr. Hayes envisions his role as hel ping his patients see their lives from a new perspective, transforming discomfort into growth.

Kim Warren

Job Titles:
  • Director of Admissions and UM
Kim came to Twelve Oaks five years ago from New York. Most of her clinical experience was working in a residential setting with adolescents and young adults with Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities. Kim left that agency in a leadership/Director role and found she loved to lead and mentor staff just as much as she loves working with Clients. She spearheaded a family finding initiative for children and adults with no known family and was able to be trained in DBT, ABA, and TCI throughout her tenure. At Twelve Oaks Kim has been the Manger of Client Care, the UM Manager and now the Director of Admissions and UM. Kim says her experiences at Twelve Oaks have helped her become a better leader, colleague and friend. When not working you can find her snuggling her animals, hanging out with family and friends, going to the beach and reading thrillers.

Melissa Brooks

Melissa came to Twelve Oaks in July of 2022 as the Director of Nursing after deciding to move to Florida to be close to the beach.Melissa began her career in nursing in 1995 with a BSN from McNeese State University. She found a love for mental health while working at an adolescent treatment center in Utah, where she became the Director of Nursing. Since then, she has worked as the Director of Nursing in mental health facilities for the last 20 years. She obtained her Master of Arts in Psychology and Counseling in 2005 from Louisiana Baptist University and her Master's in Business Administration in 2014 from Western Governors University.

Robin King

Job Titles:

Robin began working in the treatment field in 2000 when he started his journey at Twelve Oaks as a Clinical Tech. In 2004 he earned his MS in Counseling and Psychology and then spent more than a decade working at Bridgeway Center in Fort Walton Beach. There he served as a substance abuse counselor and worked in the Crisis Stabilization Unit. He was then promoted to a team leader and later to Clinical Operations Supervisor. He returned to Twelve Oaks in 2016 as a substance abuse counselor and was promoted to Manager of Client Care in February 2019. He has a real passion for helping people succeed in life. Robin is also an ordained minister and has a BA in Human Resources Management and a PhD in Christian Theology. Robin is a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Timothy A. Gooden

Dr. Gooden is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics in 1984 at Case Western Reser ve University. After completing a fellowship in neonatology, he established North Coast Newborn Services, Inc., which provided acute neonatal care for community hospitals in northeast Ohio. He also practiced general pediatrics until 2002, when his interest in substance use disorders led to a position in the Case Western/University Hospitals/Cleveland VA Medical Center department of psychiatry, division of addiction medicine. After completing his fellowship in 2004, Dr. Gooden did research in addiction medic ine with the Cleveland Clinic's department of addiction psychiatry. Dr. Gooden later served as an addiction medicine physi cian and, eventually, associate medical director at a large residential treatment facility in Warrior, Alabama. In 2010, he established Birmingham Addiction Medicine, Inc., which provided hospital-based addiction treatment and con sult-liaison services to an 860-bed community hospital with a large inpatient psychiatric population in the Birmingham metro area. In 2012, Dr. Gooden became medical director of Twelve Oaks Recovery Center, overseeing both the facility's medical and clinical departments. After leaving for another medical directorship in 2018, he returned to the Twe lve Oaks Recovery Center family in July 2020, again assuming the role of medical di rector. Dr. Gooden is a certified member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine since its inception in 2009, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Florida Society of Addiction Medicine. He continues to be active in community education on addictive disorders throughout the Southeast. He currently enjoys life on the Emerald Coast with his wife, Deb, fur kids Farley and Niles, and his Fender, Gibson, and Martin guitars.
