CE+CA STUDIO - Key Persons
Claire has worked at CE+CA since 2016, having previously worked for Prue Chiles Architects, Bureau - Design+Research and Malcolm Fraser Architects. Claire's practice experience lies in the transformation of existing homes to accommodate modern family living. She has recently been awarded RIBA East Midlands 'Project Architect of the Year 2022' for Ravine House, the refurbishment and extension of a 1960s modernist house in Derbyshire. In 2014 Claire won the ‘Best Residential Project' in the Sheffield Design Awards for the remodelling and extension of her own Victorian terraced house.
Since establishing CE+CA with Prue and Leo in 2015, Howard has led many of the practice's major building commissions including the award-winning Artemis Barn and the Nottingham Mews House, as featured on Channel 4's Ugly House to Lovely House. Prior to becoming a director at CE+CA he was an Associate Director at Prue Chiles Architects for 14 years where he led The Knitter's House, for which he was named RIBA Yorkshire Architect of the Year 2015. Howard is also director of the dual architecture and landscape architecture programmes at The University of Sheffield.
Jen has worked at CE+CA since it was established, having previously worked for Prue Chiles Architects. Jen ran the practice's Hollis Building project for which she won RIBA Yorkshire Project Architect of the Year 2019. Jen's approach to architecture draws on a background of craft and making as a means to explore and appreciate the spatial, material and technical aspects of building design.
Jess completed her BA(Hons) Interior Architecture + Design in May 2021. She joined CE+CA in January 2022, having previously worked at Studio Polpo and Sheffield Hallam, teaching on the IA+D course. Jess' approach to design is driven by an interest in social enterprise, material re-use, retrofit and how these can impact housing. Jess is returning to education to complete her MArch Architecture: Collaborative Practice and engage with projects that work toward understanding how architectural knowledge and resources can be made more accessible to local communities.

Prior to establishing CE+CA Leo was an Associate Director at both Prue Chiles Architects and Bureau - Design+Research for 12 years. Leo is currently leading the practice's Open House Project exploring new practices in collaborative design and architecture to develop a self sufficient co-housing project in North Sheffield. The Long Barn, one of the first homes completed within the project, won a 2018 Sheffield Design Award. Leo is also works at the University of Sheffield where he is actively involved in running many aspects of the School of Architecture's taught programmes.
Having previously worked for over twenty years at BDP and Bond Bryan before setting up his own practice, Brad brings a wealth of experience to the studio. He leads and supports a wide range of projects across the practice, including both new build and refurbishment work. Brad teaches in the Sheffield School of Architecture, where his roles have included studio tutor, year leader, and coordinator of architectural communication courses. He brings his interest in design as an exploration of materiality and construction technology to both practice and teaching.

As Professor of Architectural Design Research at Newcastle University, Prue combines her architectural practice at CE+CA with research and teaching. Her current research includes a book based on the work of Prue Chiles Architects and CE+CA. Prue has overseen many of the practice's education and community projects including the Hollis Building and Ballifield Classroom of the Future. She is also on the faculty of the British School at Rome and is Chair of Trustees for the community-led design charity The Glass-House.
Following his graduation from the Grenfell-Baines Institute of Architecture in 2018, Rafi spent two years at shedkm architects, working on a range of modular residential projects. Rafi completed his MArch at The University of Sheffield in 2022 before joining CE+CA as an architectural assistant.
