Since taking up a lectureship position at the then Department of Geology in the year 2000, he has lectured in various aspects of geology (of Ghana and West Africa), geochemistry, exploration geochemistry, mineral exploration, water resources management, research methods, medical geology and geochemistry, environmental geology, environmental geochemistry, environmental impact assessment, among others. An avid field researcher, he constantly conducts research in many of these areas and has collaborated with local and international colleagues on various, often policy- oriented research and projects. Apart from research in the geological sciences, he has strong interest in the relationship amongst mining, development and the environment, an area that not only continues to feature prominently in his research activities but also has witnessed important collaborative effort with some personnel and/or institutions overseas. Frank has served as consultant to and/or worked for many companies, organizations and institutions, both local and foreign, in the mining and minerals industry including (but not limited to) Ghana's Minerals Commission (on various Development Partner-funded projects, e.g. World Bank, European Union), Nimba Research & Consultancy Co. Ltd. (Government of Sierra Leone/World Bank), XTRA Gold Mining Ltd., Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and Fugro Nigeria Ltd. He has authored or co-authored several papers from geo-scientific research done or work in the mining, development and environment nexus (e.g. mining and migration, transitory mining, mercury use in Ghana's artisanal mining sector, artisanal mining and land tenure, shifts by artisanal miners from diamond to gold mining in Ghana and labour specialization in the artisanal mining sector.
