Alex Olshanskiy

Alex Olshanskiy joined the firm in 2022 as an Investment Analyst. Alex graduated from Towson University in 2021, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Finance. During his time at Towson, he completed investment internships with Blue Point Investment Management and Prudential Financial. Alex was actively involved in the Towson University Investment Group (TUIG), where he worked as a Compliance Officer for the organization. In addition to his compliance role, Alex was a Portfolio Manager for TUIG and managed a portion of Towson's endowment fund. Alex is a native of Ukraine. He is an active member of Kingsville Baptist Church, where he is the director of the middle school class. Alex is a very active player of both soccer and basketball, and he enjoys a good competitive match of table tennis.

Barbara Rishel - VP

Barbara is a 33-year veteran of the investment industry in Baltimore and an integral part of our team. The early part of Barbara's career was focused on Equity Research, providing analytical research expertise in industrials and telecommunications for several venerable Baltimore financial institutions, including the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland, Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust, and the Adams Express Company. She then joined Allied Investment Advisors (the predecessor firm to Wilmington Trust Advisors), as a Vice President/Senior Portfolio Manager, and was responsible for co-managing the flagship $500 million Value Equity mutual fund and co-managing several other funds, including Equity Income and Multi-Cap Growth. Before joining Tufton, Barbara was a financial advisor to high net worth clients at Citi Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch. Barbara holds an MBA with honors from the University of Baltimore where she also received her BS in Finance. She is a member of the Investment Committee for the Maryland Historical Society and is a volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). She is also a member of the CFA Institute and the Baltimore CFA Society. Barbara was named to the Who's Who in American Colleges in 1981 and was named one of Baltimore Magazine's Top Wealth Managers for the past 6 years.

Chad Meyer - CMO, President

Meyer is a 23-year veteran of the investment industry, having started his career with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in New York City. He then served as a Managing Director at both Legg Mason and Stifel, Nicolaus & Co., where he led a team in both firms' Institutional Equity Sales Departments. Meyer has also acquired, grown and sold two Maryland-based private companies. Meyer received a BA from Washington & Lee University and an MBA in Finance from NYU's Stern School of Business. He successfully completed the Chartered Financial Analyst program in 1998. Chad Meyer joined the firm in 2013 as President and Chief Marketing Officer. In addition to his role as Managing Partner, Chad works closely with the firm's analysts and portfolio managers as a member of the Investment Committee.

Eric P. Schopf

Eric Schopf has been working in the investment community for over 28 years. Prior to joining Tufton Capital Management as VP and Portfolio Manager, Schopf served as Portfolio Manager in the Trust Department of the Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company. A proven performer, he managed money for high net worth individuals and endowments. The experience garnered in this role positioned him well to join - and enhance - the efforts of the Tufton executive team. Schopf earned a BS in Finance from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from the York College of Pennsylvania. As Tufton's Director of Research, Eric oversees the firm's Investment Committee and manages its analytical team. In this role, Eric is responsible for managing the strategic direction of Tufton's financial research analysis provided by the firm's investment professionals. Eric is also Tufton's Chief Compliance Officer. In this capacity, Eric ensures that Tufton Capital complies with laws, regulations, rulings and Securities and Exchange Commission releases governing investment advisors.

J. Scott Murphy

Scott Murphy is a 29-year veteran of the investment advisory industry. He has been an executive member of the Tufton Capital Management team since 1997. Prior to his post as VP and Portfolio Manager at Hardesty, Murphy served as Portfolio Manager in the Institutional Equity Department of the Trust Division at Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company. Holding a BA from Towson University, Scott went on to receive his MBA from the University of Baltimore, where he served on the Dean's Advisory Council of the Robert G. Merrick School of Business until June 2011. Scott's past civic involvement includes membership on the Mid Atlantic Make-a-Wish Advisory Board and VP of the Murray Hill Community Association.

Kim England

Kim began her financial services career in 1996 in Operations at Legg Mason. She worked in various departments gaining knowledge of options, margin and compliance, along with the banking side of the brokerage industry. She eventually moved to a sales office and successfully obtained her Series 7, 66, and 31 licenses, becoming a Registered Marketing Associate who assisted with trading, developing retirement plans and marketing. She worked through the transition of Legg Mason to Smith Barney before joining Robert W. Baird in Towson as a Registered Associate. After a year and a half hiatus from the brokerage industry, she joined Tufton Capital as an Account Administrator in June, 2012. Kim resides in Baltimore City. She is an active supporter/volunteer for Moveable Feast, a local charity that provides nutritious meals and other services at no cost to people suffering severe illnesses. She is also heavily involved in the evolving art scene in the city.

LaShawn Jenkins

LaShawn has over 20 years of experience working as an administrative and customer service professional. She began her career as a receptionist at Prudential Securities, followed by positions at A.G. Edwards & Sons and M&T Bank. LaShawn worked at Hardesty Capital Management (now Tufton) from 1996 through 2001 and returned to the firm in 2015. Just prior to rejoining Tufton, she worked as a Gift Entry Coordinator at Kennedy Krieger Institute. LaShawn is involved in fundraising and raising awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She is also actively involved in fundraising efforts for the Kennedy Krieger Institute. LaShawn lives in Parkville with her daughter, Amaya.

Rick S. Rubin - VP

Rick Rubin brings a broad knowledge of investments to his role as Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Tufton Capital Management. Prior to joining the firm, Rubin served as a Senior Investment Advisor at PNC Wealth Management, where he spent over a decade working with high net worth clients. Rick's past roles also include Co-Head of Equity Research at Mercantile Trust and Equity Research Analyst at Legg Mason. In addition to his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, Rubin received his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate in 1994 and his MBA from Loyola University Maryland in 1998. Rick is a member of the Baltimore CFA Society and the CFA Institute. As a member of Tufton's Investment Committee, Rick is responsible for following consumer staple companies and Real Estate Investment Trusts.

V. Randolph McMenamin - Managing Director

Randy McMenamin brings more than 50 years of experience in the investment business to his role as Managing Director of Tufton Capital Management. Prior to co-founding Hardesty Capital Management (now Tufton Capital) in 1995, McMenamin acted as Senior Vice President and Senior Investment Portfolio Manager at Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1978. McMenamin is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served at the rank of Lt. Colonel until his retirement in 1990 from the Reserves. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University. Randy is involved in key industry organizations, including the CFA Institute and The Baltimore CFA Society. Previously, McMenamin served as President of the RC Heller Foundation and Chairman of the Finance Committee and Board Member of the Grace and St. Peter's School. He was also a Member of the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees of the Friends Share Fund and a Member of the Broadmead Investment Committee and the Bruck Fund Council. McMenamin is an expert in the fields of industrials, materials and utilities.
