Incorporated in 1936, The Chios Society of Detroit - Agia Markella is a nonprofit organization devoted to the cultivation and preservation of the history and the culture of Chios, Greece. The intentions are to develop ties of friendship and solidarity between the members of the Society. Also the Chios Society of Detroit - Agia Markella provides philanthropic and moral support to members of the Society as well as economic assistance to the various Chian and Greek organizations both on the island and elsewhere.
