Deborah M. Reiner

Since transitioning to HCA Healthcare's corporate office, she has led the activity to launch MyHealthOne patient portal, established an enterprise platform for websites and digital modules, and merged five separate patient-facing call centers into a shared service model dedicated to enhancing growth, retention, and patient engagement. The HCA Healthcare rebrand was also launched under Reiner's leadership. Over the years, Reiner has supported a variety of community organizations, including committee work for United Way and Catholic Health Charities. Sam Hazen is chief executive officer of HCA Healthcare, one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services with 182 hospitals and approximately 2,300 ambulatory sites of care, including surgery centers, freestanding ERs, urgent care centers and physician clinics, in 20 states and the United Kingdom. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, HCA Healthcare and its 275,000 employees provide approximately six percent of all U.S. inpatient hospital services. A 40-year veteran of HCA Healthcare, Hazen was appointed CEO January 1, 2019 after serving as president and chief operating officer since 2016. Hazen has served in various senior positions for HCA Healthcare including president of operations from 2011-2015. Hazen has also served as president of HCA Healthcare's Western Group, which included all operations west of the Mississippi River and represented approximately one-half of the company's revenue. Prior to 2001, Hazen was chief financial officer for the Western Group. Thomas Frist III became Chairman of the HCA Board on April 26, 2019 and has served on the board of directors since 2006. Mr. Frist is the founder and managing principal of Frist Capital, LLC, a Nashville-based investment firm he founded in 2002 that makes long-term equity investments in public and private companies. Wayne Joseph Riley, M.D. is the President of the State University of New York (SUNY), Downstate Health Sciences University where he also holds academic rank as Professor of Internal Medicine and of Health Policy & Management. Dr. Riley is a Commissioner of the U.S. Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), Chair of the Board of Directors of the New York Academy of Medicine and a President Emeritus of the 150,000 member American College of Physicians, the nation's largest medical specialty organization. From January 2007 until July 2013, Dr. Riley was the 10th President and Chief Executive Officer of Meharry Medical College. William B. Rutherford is chief financial officer and executive vice president of Nashville, Tennessee-based HCA Healthcare, one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services. As CFO, Rutherford has management responsibility for the company's Treasury Department, Office of the Controller, Information Technology, Investor Relations and HealthTrust Purchasing Group. A 34-year veteran of HCA Healthcare, Rutherford joined the company as a Staff Auditor in 1986. He served the company in a variety of roles, including director of operations support and chief financial officer for the Georgia Division. From 1996 to 2005, Rutherford was chief financial officer for the Eastern Group. During this time, the Eastern Group comprised approximately 90 hospitals with $12 billion of net revenue. In 2005, Rutherford left HCA Healthcare to start his own training and education company which led to work with several private equity ventures. He served as chief operating officer of Psychiatric Solutions, a behavioral health services provider, from January 2006 to June 2007. Rutherford returned to HCA Healthcare in December 2008, serving as chief financial officer of the Outpatient Services Group through January 2011. In this role, he was responsible for HCA Healthcare's company-wide operations of freestanding outpatient facilities to include ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic imaging and cancer center operations. This also included physician services to support both hospital and outpatient strategies. Prior to his current appointment, Rutherford served as COO of the Clinical and Physician Services Group, helping to provide leadership oversight of physician employment, recruiting and practice management for over 3,000 providers.
