Margaret Davidson - Chairman

Martin Gandar

Martin has embraced many roles in a long career as a software technologist, entrepreneur and Industry Analyst. From writing software in 1972 through to becoming Head of IT for the largest Underwriting Agency in Lloyd's of London.. On the way he designed and developed complex software solutions for the DTI, the Royal Navy and Windscale as well as risk and claims management for Lloyd's. He formed, managed, grew and sold two software companies one to Unisys where he became Marketing V.P. Europe of USoft based in Amsterdam. The challenge of establishing and growing a company and mentoring its staff was one thing Martin really enjoyed. In later years he helped many other European start-up companies launch onto the market. He also became an Industry Analyst for Butler Group, Ovum and Omnia researching and writing white papers on advanced technologies. In parallel he ran the user group for Oracle in the UK and Europe. Fortunately, throughout all this he has had a love of the theatre, cinema and classical and contemporary music that has kept him relatively sane. He has also had two exhibitions of his travel and landscape photography at The Pavilions.

Richard Brett

Richard has had a varied career in many different roles. Following some senior management roles in financial positions Richard went on to become an executive director and board member of the Civil Aviation Authority before setting up his own IT consultancy business. He then sold the business to a larger company and became the managing director before leaving to join Age Concern Torbay as the finance and operations manager and then the chief executive.

Roger Smith

Roger has been involved with the Carlton Theatre and local arts projects for many years. He has spent the last nine years chairing Teignmouth's amateur dramatic society - the Teignmouth Players as well as being involved in directing and performing. Roger was also a member of the Carlton Theatre Project Panel that monitored the development of Pavilions Teignmouth and is a founder and director of the TAAG Arts and Community Centre in Teignmouth which was created to help improve communication between artists and art organisations and to increase the profile of local artists. He also has previous management experience working for a large telecoms company and so brings a wide range of skills to the Carlton Pavilion board. Roger has been a trustee since July 2014
