Abby Wheaton

Miss Wheaton is the student assistant for marketing and communications at Honors College, where she supports strategic efforts to share the College's mission, events and achievements. A senior majoring in public relations with a minor in business, Abby brings creativity and clarity to her work in storytelling and brand engagement. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, she serves as New Member Recruitment Chair for the Oaks Agency, Auburn's student-run PR firm, and is an active member of PRSSA and PRCA. Abby hopes to pursue a career in hospitality and event planning after graduation, combining her communication skills with a passion for creating meaningful experiences. Outside of class or work, she enjoys spending time with friends, visiting Well Red coffee shop and doting on her cat, Poppy.

Amy Flynn

As an academic advisor for the Honors College, Mrs. Flynn is responsible for assisting students with course selection, requirements for selected areas of concentration, and post-college plans. Mrs. Flynn is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She received her B.A. in Psychology (with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies) and M.Ed. in School Counseling from Auburn University. As an undergraduate, she was a tutor at Study Partners, Research Assistant for the Psychology Department, and mentor in the Young Women Leadership Program. As a graduate student, she went on to be the Graduate Assistant for the Young Women Leadership Program. She was awarded the Chi Sigma Iota School Counseling Student of the Year at Auburn University. She earned credentials as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). Mrs. Flynn served as a school counselor for several years before returning to Auburn. She was awarded the ALSCA Asa Sparks New Counselor of the Year in 2016. She finds joy in helping others pursue their academic and personal goals.

Ashley Daniels

Ms. Daniels is the Business & Administrative Service Coordinator for Honors College. She attended Auburn University before transferring to the University of Montevallo where she graduated with a degree in Communications. She has lived in Auburn for over 15 years and could not imagine a better place to live and raise her son. After taking time off from running one of the largest child development centers in the area to focus on her son she decided it was time to get back to work and what better place than Auburn University! She is excited about this opportunity to work in the Honors program with the incredible staff and students.

Bryce Gray

As the Administrator for Student Recruiting, Mr. Gray meets with prospective students and families to provide information on admission requirements, curriculum designations, involvement opportunities, and program outcomes within the Honors College. Prior to joining Honors, he worked at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruiting students from Northern Alabama. Mr. Gray is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati. He is currently pursuing his M.Ed. at Auburn University.

Cate Wilber

Cate Wilber is a student associate at the Honors College, where she works closely with the Honors College staff as a customer service liaison in reception for current and prospective students, faculty and visitors of the Honors College.

Dr. Benjamin Fagan

As Assistant Director for National Prestigious Scholarships, Dr. Benjamin Fagan works with students from across the university as they apply for a variety of major awards. As a former Fulbright scholar, he knows firsthand the impact that such scholarships can have on the lives of students. Fagan has a bachelor's degree in English and honors from the University of Iowa and received his doctoral degree from the University of Virginia. Fagan's scholarship focuses on early African American literature and print culture. He is the author of The Black Newspaper and the Chosen Nation (University of Georgia Press, 2016), co-editor (with Kathleen Diffley) of Visions of Glory: The Civil War in Word and Image (University of Georgia Press, 2019), and editor of African American Literature in Transition, 1830-1850 (Cambridge University Press, 2021). His most recent book, Frederick Douglass's Newspapers: Black Organizing and the Press for Freedom, is scheduled to be published in spring 2026 by the University of Pennsylvania Press. Benjamin Fagan has been appointed as the Honors College's assistant director for National Prestigious Scholarships. The associate professor of English will support undergraduate and graduate students from across campus, educating them on national scholarship programs.

Dr. Laura Stevens

As director of the Honors College, Dr. Laura Stevens works with Honors staff and students, alongside departments across the University, to develop a vision and mission for the future of Honors at Auburn. As an alumna of an honors program, she is passionate about the potential honors colleges have to offer as a center for intellectual community, educational enrichment and interdisciplinary dialogue. Stevens was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in the Philadelphia area. She has a bachelor's degree in philosophy and honors from Villanova University, and she earned her master's and doctoral degrees in English from the University of Michigan. Before coming to Auburn and joining the Honors College in the summer of 2024, she was a professor of English and director of the Tulsa Undergraduate University Challenge at the University of Tulsa. Her scholarship focuses on early American, eighteenth-century British, and Native American literature. She is the author of The Poor Indians: British Missionaries, Native Americans, and Colonial Sensibility (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2004), Friday's Tribe: Eighteenth-Century English Missionary Fantasies (Accepted for Publication, University of Pennsylvania Press) and Eighteenth-Century Guides to Reading the Bible (forthcoming, Cambridge University Press Elements Series). She remains an advisor and consultant to a research project she founded at the University of Tulsa in 2020, "The PSIG Project: Identifying and Honoring the Students of the Presbyterian School for Indian Girls, the Indigenous Boarding School that became the University of Tulsa" (Psigproject.org).

Jay Morris

Jay is a junior from Dothan, Alabama, pursuing an undergraduate degree in finance. As a student associate for the Honors College, he plays a vital role in creating a welcoming environment by greeting students at the front desk and assisting with various tasks around the office. Beyond his academic and professional responsibilities, Jay is an active member of the Lobby Board and BYX fraternity. Outside of school and work, Jay is a passionate soccer and Auburn sports fan.

Katie Martin

Ms. Martin serves as an academic advisor in the Honors College and advises students with the last names of Kf-Po. She assists students with Honors course selection, distinction requirements, and post-graduation plans. She holds a Master of Technical and Professional Communication (MTPC) and Bachelor of Arts in English (Professional and Public Writing) from Auburn University. Ms. Martin served in undergraduate roles within the Office of Academic Support and served as a graduate teaching assistant for the Department of English. She now teaches a variety of Honors courses and finds great joy in supporting Honors students on their academic journeys.

Maggie Rogers

As the Student Programs Coordinator for the Honors College, Ms. Rogers is responsible for all aspects of programming including Week of Service as well as Induction and Medal Ceremonies. She teaches Honors First Year Exploration and Service Learning courses. Ms. Rogers is originally from the Birmingham area and received her BFA in Community Engagement and Leadership from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where she was heavily involved in the office of Student Engagement serving as both Student Body President and Interim Events Coordinator. Upon graduation, Ms. Rogers was employed as the Second Year Experience Coordinator, Head Community Living Coordinator, and CORE 100 Coordinator at her Alma Mater. She comes to Auburn by way of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she gained experience working in Residence Life. Ms. Rogers believes that "Students come to college to become the people they are meant to be; it is my job to support them in every way possible."

Savannah Baker

As an academic advisor for the Honors College, Mrs. Baker advises students with the last names A-Dr. She is responsible for advising students on course selection, requirements for selected areas of concentration, and post-college plans. Mrs. Baker is originally from Lake Butler, Florida, and received her B.S. in Agricultural Education and Communication and her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration, both from the University of Florida. During her time as a graduate student, she worked as a graduate assistant in UF Off Campus Life, interned at Baylor University as an assistant residence hall director, and volunteered as an academic advisor in the department of sport management. It was each of these experiences that led her to pursue a career in academic advising.

Suzanne Hunter

As assistant director of Academic Affairs, Ms. Hunter oversees Honors advising, Honors course development and cross-campus initiatives. Ms. Hunter also advises students on course selection, distinction requirements and post-college plans. Originally from Eufaula, Alabama, Ms. Hunter holds a B.A. from Auburn University in Political Science, an M.Ed. from Clemson in Counselor Education: Student Affairs, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Adult Education. Ms. Hunter advises students with the last names of Pp-R.

Taylor Davis

As an academic advisor for the Honors College, Ms. Davis advises students with the last names Ds-Ke. She is responsible for advising students on course selection, requirements for selected areas of concentration, and post-college plans. Ms. Davis is originally from Walnut Creek, California, and received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Auburn University. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Davis served Auburn with executive positions in athletic, greek, and academic student organizations. Ms. Davis loves everything about the Auburn family, and enjoys that being an Academic Advisor allows her to give back to the students at Auburn just as her mentors did to her while she was completing her undergraduate degree.

Wade Berry

Mr. Berry is the marketing and communications specialist for the Honors College and uses his knowledge of public relations, communications, graphic design, and social media to inform students, parents, alumni, and faculty of the current news and events of the Honors College. A native Alabamian, and Auburn graduate ('01), Mr. Berry received his bachelor's in public relations and has over 23 years of experience in the marketing and communications field in both the public and private sector. As a third-generation alumnus, Mr. Berry truly understands the meaning of the Auburn Family and is proud to work for his alma mater. When not on campus Mr. Berry can be found renovating his historic Opelika home, entertaining with friends, and enjoying life both locally and abroad.

Whitney Comer

As assistant director for student affairs, Dr. Comer plans to expand opportunities for students to create a unique Honors College community experience through dynamic programming events. She received her Master of Arts in Student Development from Appalachian State University, and her Bachelor's of Science in Mass Communications from East Tennessee State University. Dr. Comer is also a CliftonStrengths ® Certified Coach, and recently received her Educational Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. Originally from Tennessee, she previously worked at Clemson University and Coastal Carolina University in Student Affairs before joining the Auburn Honors College. In her free time, Dr. Comer enjoys traveling and running.

William Gwin
