Karel Murphy

Karel worked initially for Horganlynch, in Dublin, during her sandwich year from University in 1993. On qualification from the University of Glamorgan, Karel joined the Cork Office and became an Associate in 2003 and a Partner in 2007. She has particular experience as a project lead, in multidisciplinary teams for projects within the pharmachem sector. Karel also has broad experience in the industrial, commercial and residential sectors where she has diversified into the field of project management. Kevin Callaghan

Kevin has worked with Horganlynch since graduating from University College Cork in 2001. He became Senior Project Engineer in 2007 and became a Chartered Engineer the same year. Kevin has extensive experience in design, contractor liaison & project management and coordination. He has particular experience in structural design and multi management of concurrent projects including multiple building types incorporating various building materials. He has designed multimillion euro projects across all sectors, including the Glucksman Gallery, University College Cork which won the ACEI Engineering Excellence Award 2007 and was short listed for the 2006 Stirling Prize. He has successfully designed and modelled site services for numerous challenging sites with tight constraints for both foul and storm drainage. Kevin provides technical expertise and manages the day to day operations of the Horganlynch team most notably all design aspects of the projects. Michael Shortall

Michael qualified with a degree in Engineering in 1983 following studies at the Bolton Street College of Technology in Dublin (now part of DIT), and spent the following 4 years working with Building Contractors on sites in Dublin, taking on various roles on some the of larger building developments being undertaken at the time. He joined the Dublin office of Horganlynch in 1989, following a 3 year period working with Alan Baxter and Associates in London, and became a Partner in the Practice in 2003. Michael has significant experience on multimillion Euro projects in the pharmaceutical, medical, commercial and educational as well as heritage sectors. Niall FitzGerald

Niall qualified from University College Cork in 1988 and spent the initial period of his postgraduate training with Transmanche Link while working on the Channel Tunnel Project in Folkestone UK. On his return to Ireland he joined Horganlynch in 1989 as design engineer. He became a senior design engineer in 1994 and partner to the firm in 2003. He has been a chartered member of Engineers Ireland since 1995. Since his time with the practice he has been responsible for the design and management of very significant projects which the practice have been involved . Such projects have covered many sectors such as Education, Commercial, Sports & Recreation, Bulk Pharmaceutical, Cultural and Civic and Office Development and Infrastructure. He has a particular interest in the sector of Sports & Recreation and has been involved with many significant sporting projects throughout the country. Pat Brady

Pat Brady first joined the Cork office of Horganlynch in 1990 after qualifying with an N.C.E.A Diploma from Cork R.T.C. He subsequently went on to qualify with an honours Degree in Civil Engineering 1993 and a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering Infrastructure Design & Operation in 1994 from Queens University Belfast. Following a period of on-site engineering experience Pat re-joined Horganlynch early in 1995. He became an Associate in 2003, and a Partner in 2007. Pat is a member of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and has been a Chartered Engineer since 2000. Over the past 20 years he has amassed extensive experience in Civil/Structural design and Project management in a wide variety of projects including Cultural, Educational, Commercial & Industrial, Bulk Chemical & Pharmaceutical Infrastructure, Sports and Recreational as well as Sports Stadia design and master planning. Pat has particular experience in Structural Conservation and repair of historic and protected structures and heads up our Conservation Engineering services. He is on the approved list of Engineers with the Heritage Council. He has lectured for the Department of Civil Engineering at the Cork Institute of Technology and has sat on a number of interview and project assessment panels for that Institute. Pat has a particular interest in innovative structural design and has played a significant lead role in some of Horganlynch's most challenging structural projects including The London School Of Economics Student Centre, The Glucksman Gallery and the Lyric Theatre Belfast. Peter Anthony

Peter Anthony (1951-2018) died unexpectedly on 21st November 2018. We knew Peter as a brilliant engineer and as an extraordinary colleague. He adored engineering and everything about the build environment. Peter has left us all a tremendous legacy which we will embrace and honour. We will continue to adopt his ethos of thinking outside the box and rejecting conventional limitation.
