Clark Metz grew up in Parkersburg, WV. He studied mathematics through his college career at WVU. He received his Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics in 2014. He joined the faculty in the Mathematics department at WVU as a full-time instructor in 2015. He has since begun his work on his PhD in Higher Education Administration. Currently Clark is the course coordinator for the Math 124 course offered at WVU. Further, Clark is a member of the WV State Math Field Day committee and is the Assistant Coach of the WV National Math team that competes annually at the American Regional Mathematics League competition held at Penn State each summer. Dr. Lori Ogden is a Teaching Associate Professor of Mathematics and an Associate Director of the School of Mathematical and Data Sciences at West Virginia University. She is the course coordinator for college algebra and has taught a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses including precalculus, trigonometry, and calculus. Her role as Associate Director includes running the Institute for Mathematics Learning where she leads initiatives that promote student success within all undergraduate mathematics courses through Calculus 3. Recently she led the redesign of several entry-level courses by fostering the use of undergraduate learning assistants and the integration of assignments that teach students how to study, where to get help, and how to manage their time. In addition, she has developed and coordinated training opportunities for undergraduate learning assistants and professional development opportunities for faculty, instructors, and graduate students. Dr. Marjorie Darrah

Dr. Marjorie Darrah is Professor of Mathematics at WVU. She has 25 years experience teaching at the university level, and has led three National Science Foundation projects connecting students and teachers to cutting edge technology and making a smooth pathway to IT careers. She also had funding from the US Department of Education, SBIR program to develop new products incorporating haptic touch technology that allows a person to touch and interact with a virtual object. More recently her education research is related to the mitigation of math anxiety in students and determining factors that facilitate rural, first-generation STEM student success. Her research also includes the development and implementation of biologically inspired algorithms (Artificial Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms). She has been involved in the development, implementation and field testing of genetic algorithms that coordinate missions using multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In this area she has had funding from both Army Research Labs and Air Force Research Labs. She has also worked on a NASA project using Neural Networks to do health monitoring of UAV systems to avoid system degradation or failure. She recently worked on an Army Research Lab Project to used Convolutional Neural Networks to identify ground objects in LiDAR data collected using a small LiDAR sensor mounted on a multi-roter UAV. Dr. Darrah also has expertise in project evaluation and has conducted over 25 project evaluations, specializing in evaluation of educational technologies and educational programs. Before coming to WVU, she was the Director of the Computer Sciences Group for the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation and also taught ten years at small private WV University, where she served at the Chair of the Natural Sciences Division. Originally from Hardy County, WV, Jesse Cook always enjoyed helping his classmates with mathematics. He graduated from high school in 2011, then attended Potomac State College of WVU before transferring to the main campus of West Virginia University to complete his studies. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and physics in 2015, Cook decided to do graduate work at WVU because of how much he enjoyed his experience at WVU as an undergraduate. He completed a Master of Science in Mathematics in 2017, and has been a lecturer in the WVU School of Mathematical and Data Sciences since 2019. Cook loves teaching calculus courses, as it provides an opportunity for early college students to challenge themselves and learn math they likely have not experienced before. She went on to earn degrees in mathematics, first studying applied mathematics and later combining her passions for mathematics and teaching to study undergraduate mathematics education. Her work has been supported by grants from the Mathematical Association of America, the National Science Foundation and the West Virginia Department of Education. She was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in Budapest, Hungary in 2016. She is an active member of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), serving 6 years on their Committee on Professional Development​, 2 years as an Associate Editor for MAA Focus newsmagazine, and was a contributing author for the MAA Instructional Practices guide. She is also a proud member of SACNAS (https://www.sacnas.org/) and graduate of the Linton-Poodry SACNAS Leadership Institute. At WVU, she has been a faculty associate for the Center for Women's & Gender Studies and the Teaching & Learning Commons, a Provost's Fellow in the Office of Graduate Education in 2016-2017 and served 3 years on the Council for Women's Concerns. Her commitment to the state is seen in her work with in-service elementary and secondary teachers through funded projects and in her leadership as the Dean of Students for the West Virginia Governor's STEM Institute, a summer residential program for rising 8th graders from all parts of the state (2018-2022). John Goldwasser

Professor Goldwasser graduated in physics from Harvard College and got his PhD in mathematics at the University of Wisconsin. He has been at WVU since 1988. His main research interest is in extremal combinatorics, with recent emphasis on polychromatic colorings of the integers, the complete graph, and the hypercube, and on extremal configurations in the hypercube. He also has interests in graph theory and linear algebra. Before getting his PhD, Professor Goldwasser taught middle school and high school, and he continues to be interested in the teaching of mathematics at all levels, including high school, undergraduate calculus, training for the Putnam Exam, and graduate combinatorics. Professor Goldwasser had a Fulbright Fellowship at the University of Malawi. He has been a lecturer at Chiang Mai University in Thailand. He spent a year at the Institute for Mathematics in Budapest.

Krzysztof C. Ciesielski

Krzysztof C. Ciesielski received his masters and PhD degrees in pure mathematics from Warsaw University, Poland, in 1981 and 1985, respectively. He has worked at West Virginia University from 1989 to the present. In addition, since 2006 he holds the position of adjunct professor in the department of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of three books and about 150 journal research articles. His research interests include both pure mathematics (real analysis, topology, set theory) and applied mathematics (image processing, especially image segmentation). He is an editor of Real Analysis Exchange, the Journal of Applied Analysis, and the Journal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics (1985), Warsaw University, Poland. Matt was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He taught Mathematics at Stonewall Jackson High School in 2003-04, where he was the school representative for the Virginia Math League. He was hired as an Instructor at WVU in 2006 and promoted to Teaching Assistant Professor in 2019. During his time at WVU, he has served as the Lead Instructor for College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Trigonometry, as well as Course Coordinator for Pre-Calculus. He is currently the Course Coordinator for Trigonometry, as well as for the dual-enrollment courses for WvEB Trigonometry and WvEB Calculus. While in college, Matt served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the Gannon chapter of IEEE. He is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Eta Kappa Nu, Kappa Gamma Pi, and Pi Mu Epsilon honors fraternities. Vito D'Orazio joined WVU in 2022 as an Associate Professor of Political Science and Data Sciences. Prior to that, he was on the faculty at the University of Texas at Dallas and was a postdoctoral researcher in data science at Harvard University's Institute for Quantitative Social Science. He received a PhD in Political Science from the Pennsylvania State University, with concentrations in International Relations, Political Methodology, and Information Science and Technology. His research interests span Political Science and Data Science. Topics include conflict forecasting, militarized disputes, predictive modeling, machine learning, natural language processing for content analysis, and software and systems development. He is a Co-PI on the Militarized Interstate Dispute project and the UTD Event Data project. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
