Alan MacKay - CEO, Founder

Alan has over 30 years private equity investment experience, with a strong track record of dedicated healthcare investing. Previously, Alan was a board member at 3i plc, led the build-out of the 3i Europe office network, and founded 3i's healthcare sector team as Global Head of Healthcare. Subsequently, Alan was founder, CEO and Chairman of the Investment Committee at Hermes GPE, an active co-investor in private equity-backed healthcare. Alan is currently a member of the board at Alcami, RoslinCT, X-Chem, Ardena, Sterling, Linimed and Alcaliber and previously Quotient Sciences until its successful exit. Alan holds a Bachelor's degree in Law, an MSc in Enterprise and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD. Originally from Scotland, Alan has worked and lived across continental Europe as well as leading deals in North America. He was Chair of the BVCA and for a number of years chaired the BVCA Responsible Investment Advisory Board, and is currently Chairman of the European Healthcare Private Equity Association (eHCPEA).

Alessandra Macmillan

Alessandra is an investment professional with a background in banking. Alessandra joined the GHO team in 2022 and currently works closely with the FairJourney Biologics team. Before joining GHO, Alessandra worked in the Principal Investments Team at Investec Bank Plc where she was responsible for evaluating and executing entrepreneur-led deals in addition to portfolio management across a diverse range of industries. Prior to that, she worked at Investec Bank Limited where she spent three years working across various business units with a focus on alternative asset classes.. Alessandra graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting and a Business Science Degree specialising in Finance and Accounting and is a Chartered Accountant. In 2021, she obtained her CFA Charterholder.

Alison Armstrong - Chief Legal Officer

Alison is an experienced corporate lawyer with a background in M&A advisory work. Having joined GHO in 2020, Alison heads up the legal and compliance function at GHO and works on the fund structuring and legal M&A aspects of the investment function. Prior to GHO, Alison worked in the corporate M&A team at Clifford Chance, where she gained a wealth of transaction experience advising corporates (public and private) and financial sponsors on M&A and corporate advisory matters. Alison graduated from University College Cork with a first class degree in Law. As part of her studies, Alison spent a year studying at the Beasley School of Law, Temple University in Philadelphia. She has worked and studied in multiple jurisdictions, including periods spent in Hong Kong, Amsterdam and the US.

Andrea Ponti - CEO, Founder

Andrea brings over 30 years' experience supporting healthcare entrepreneurs, founders, managers and boards develop and grow their businesses globally. The founder of dedicated European healthcare investment banking franchises at both JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, Andrea has advised on some of the most significant M&A transactions across leading pharmaceutical, medical device and hospital companies both in Europe and globally. With responsibilities including Vice Chairman of European Investment Banking at JP Morgan and Partner, Managing Director, Head of European Healthcare at Goldman Sachs, Andrea has developed a unique network spanning the entire healthcare value chain and a track record of supporting successful management teams to achieve their growth ambitions through debt and equity financing as well as transactional expertise. Andrea is currently on the boards of RoslinCT, Envision Pharma Group, FairJourney Biologics, Sterling Pharma, and VISUfarma and has overseen successful exits for Caprion Biosciences. Originally from Italy and holding a BA in Economics with Highest Honours from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Andrea has lived and worked across the USA, UK and continental Europe. Andrea helped found a Blueprint for Better Business to help corporates be guided and inspired by a purpose that benefits society.

Azim Sheikh

Having joined GHO in 2021, Azim works closely with GHOs administrators, tax advisors and other service providers, with a focus on fund accounting and portfolio management. Prior to joining GHO, Azim was an Audit Assistant Manager within the Asset Management team at BDO, where he was responsible for the management of a portfolio of Private Equity clients. Starting his audit career as a generalist, he later specialised in the Financial Services sector specialising on Venture Capital Trusts and Asset Managers. Azim has worked and lived in Sydney, Australia where he worked on Healthcare, FinTech and US listed clients. Azim graduated from the University of Manchester and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and is a Qualified Chartered Accountant.

Brad Cain - VP

Brad is an investment profesional with a background in corporate finance and experience investing across a broad range of industries. Having joined GHO in 2022, Brad currently works with the management teams at Genesis Research and ClearView Healthcare Partners. Prior to GHO, he was a Vice President at HCI Equity Partners, a Washington, D.C. based private equity firm where his responsibilities included sourcing, transaction execution, financing and supporting management teams with the implementation of key growth initiatives. Brad started his career in investment banking at Cary Street Partners. Brad is a graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia where he earned a B.S. degree in Commerce.

Cara McClelland

Having joined GHO in 2017, he works closely with the investment, finance and legal teams at GHO as well as portfolio company management to lead fundraising, co-investment, reporting and investor coverage with Limited Partners as well as communications across all stakeholders. Prior to GHO, Charles worked in the fundraising and investor relations team at 3i Group plc and was formerly in Rothschild & Co's M&A practice, splitting his time between the Energy & Power team in London and as a sector generalist in Moscow. Charles holds a first class degree in Russian and History from the University of Edinburgh. A native English speaker, Charles is fluent in Russian and has lived and worked in the UK and Russia.

Cédric Degryse

Darren Hughes - CFO

Having joined GHO in 2018, Darren supports the CFO and has day to day management responsibility for corporate finance and various fund finance activities. David Hall - VP

David Miller

Previously, David was Senior Vice President of Global Market Access at Biogen with responsibility for securing patient access to Biogen products worldwide. Prior to Biogen, he founded a consultancy delivering business and commercial strategies for biopharmaceutical clients. He previously worked at Elan, as Vice President of Pharmacoeconomics, Managing Director, Asset Executive, and Head of International Operations. Dr. Miller began his career at GlaxoSmithKline, where he assumed increasing responsibilities toward becoming Vice President of Global Health Outcomes. He served as a Director on the National Pharmaceutical Council Board of Directors, is a member of advisory boards at the University of Maryland Baltimore and University of Iowa, and is a board member of the Walther Foundation, a charitable organization supporting youth education. He served on the Board of Directors of Elan Pharma Ltd. and was Chair of the Board of Grants for the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education. A dual US/UK citizen, he has lived and worked in markets in North America, Europe and Asia. Dr. Miller is the author or co-author of more than 70 scientific publications. He holds a degree in pharmacy from the University of Iowa and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Maryland Baltimore, where he studied health economics and policy.

Geoffrey Hamilton-Fairley - Chairman

Geoffrey Hamilton-Fairley is an experienced Chairman, NED and investment advisor with a track record of leading companies at different stages of development from start-ups through to sale and IPO. His entrepreneurial career started in 1982, founding a number of companies in Public Relations, Technology, Advertising and Music & Personality management backed by The Abingdon Management Company Limited, where he subsequently became sole owner having acquired Abingdon from its institutional shareholders. Abingdon had a number of quoted and unquoted investments including a Unit Trust, Foretronic (a technology company that introduced the magnetic data strip on the back of credit cards), TVS (ITV franchise for the South of England), and a significant property portfolio in the UK and abroad. Returning to his medical roots, Geoffrey developed and guided Oncimmune, a company pioneering technologies to enable early cancer detection, from a Nottingham University start-up through to a successful IPO in May 2016, with total funds raised of £62m. During this period he co-authored numerous scientific and health economic publications. He now acts as an advisor to leading technology and healthcare funds, advising investment teams, specific due diligence projects, monitoring investments as a director and mentoring CEOs.

Previously, Guy was Partner and Investment Committee Member of the private equity group at NovaQuest Capital Management, LLC., a healthcare focused investment firm. His responsibilities included identifying, analyzing and managing control-oriented healthcare transactions and managing the private equity group and related funds. Prior to NovaQuest, Guy was Partner and Investment Committee Member of Silverfleet Capital, a London headquartered private equity firm focused on control-oriented investments across Europe, the US and other geographies in the healthcare and other industries. Guy's responsibilities included transaction and portfolio company management activities and investment policy oversight. He was responsible for the firm's US effort, in addition to working with the firm's European offices on their investment activities. Guy was also Partner and Investment Committee Member of PPM America Capital Partners, the US based private equity group of Prudential, plc. Earlier in his career, Guy held positions with several middle market lenders including GE Capital. Guy has served as a director on portfolio company boards and as an advisory board member for a private equity firm. He received an MBA from DePaul University and a BA in Business Administration from Illinois Wesleyan University.

Lady Mireille Gillings

Lady Mireille founded and grew HUYABIO International to be the leader in accelerating the advancement of novel biopharmaceutical product opportunities originating in China enabling faster, more cost-effective, and lower-risk drug development in global markets. Through this model Hiyasta, an immuno-oncology drug that treats patients with cancer has been successfully launched in Japan. Lady Mireille was appointed to the Board of Quintiles, now IQVIA, a Fortune 500 company. Currently, she serves on the Pasteur Institute advisory board. Mireille and Dennis realised the need for a European private equity fund specialising in global health opportunities and financially co-founded GHO Capital. They were the cornerstone investor for the inception of GHO. Among the many honors she has received, the French Government awarded Mireille its highest national award, the Knight of the Legion of Honor in recognition of her contributions to neuroscience and entrepreneurship. Lady Mireille was bestowed an Honorary Degree by the University of Exeter. She has also twice been named by the UK Sunday Times as one of the Top Female Entrepreneurs.

Laura Taylor

Lauren previously worked at The Bank of New York Mellon and Citi and has experience across Investment Banking/Advisory, Fixed Income, Equities and Corporate Functions. Throughout her career Lauren has been focused on improving Diversity in the Financial Services Sector. She is currently a member of the advisory board of Working Options in Education, an employability and life skills charity that aims to increase career pathway opportunities for young people aged fourteen to nineteen, prioritising those from the most under-served areas of the country. Leo Shui

Prior to GHO, Leo was Head of M&A and served on various committees at Advanz Pharma, a global specialty pharmaceuticals business headquartered in London, UK. Prior to that, he was in the investment team of G Square Healthcare Private Equity LLP, a private equity firm focused on buy-out and growth healthcare opportunities throughout Europe. His responsibilities at G Square included deal sourcing, evaluation, execution, and portfolio management through to the realisation of investments. Leo began his career as a strategy consultant focused mainly on healthcare/education/tech sectors at Bainbridge in La Jolla, California, USA before moving over to investment banking: first in the Generalist M&A team at Lazard in Paris, France and then the Healthcare M&A team at N.M. Rothschild & Sons in London, UK. Leo holds a BA in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and dual-MBA degrees from HEC Paris and Tsinghua University. Leo is a dual USA/UK citizen and has lived and worked in various cities across North America, Asia, UK and continental Europe.

Lorna Davies - CFO

Lorna has over 20 years experience in Financial Services, prior to her joining GHO as CFO in July 2017. Lorna started her career in the Banking and Capital Markets division of PWC, gaining her ACA and then moving on to roles predominantly within Private Equity, but also spending some time in Investment Banking. She spent 6 years at Terra Firma Capital Partners, covering all of Fund finance, Transaction support, Co investment and the firms operations in Guernsey and Luxembourg. Following Terra Firma, Lorna spent some years in the Restructuring division of RBS, heading the Finance team for both the Debt to Equity portfolio and the Restructuring division at Ulster Bank, Dublin, following the 2008 downturn. She then moved to Coller Capital, where she had responsibility for the Group Finance team as well as sitting on the Operating Committee and supporting the COO. Her remit at GHO covers all of Fund Finance, Valuations, Transaction and tax structuring, Group Finance and all aspects of tax compliance. Lorna has a BA in English Literature in addition to her ACA qualification.
