SCARTHO JUNIOR ACADEMY - Key Persons

Jack Graves

Job Titles:
  • Trustee
  • Trustee and Teacher Trustee
I have been a teacher at this school for 8 years, joining straight from my PGCE year, meaning SJA has been the centre of my academic practice. Throughout my time here, I have always taken a vested interest in the running of the school: in terms of budgeting, organisation and infrastructure and so I jumped at the chance to join the board of trustees when approached. Being a trustee has provided me with a more rounded, holistic view of the school and the beauty of being a staff governor, is that I get to see the decisions we make as a trust body, come to fruition through the children, in terms of their experiences and the academic progress.

Michelle McMahon

Job Titles:
  • Trustee
I am delighted to have been recently elected as a co-opted member of the SJA Governing Body.

Miss Lauren Sanderson

Job Titles:
  • Trustee
  • Chairman of Monitoring and Pupil Progress
  • Trustee and Chair of Pupil Progress Committee
I am a Trustee and Chair of the Pupil Progress Committee. As a Trustee, I feel it is important to ensure that the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school is agreed and that it is being taught well to the children to ensure that they are given every opportunity to develop and succeed academically. In doing so it allows us to make a difference in children's lives and their prospects for the future. I am also Chair of Monitoring and Pupil Progress. I became a Trustee as I have a vested interest in the school - as I have worked in the school before I have first hand experience that the school really does put the needs of their children first and that they are committed to providing children with the best environment and experience possible for the children at SJA. I am hoping that by becoming a Trustee I can impact by ensuring the curriculum the school develops is exciting for the children and is also inclusive for all children at SJA. Since January 2019 I have worked for a shipping company my current position is as a Border Operations Supervisor. Outside of work I have a love for sport and exercise and also spending time with family and friends.

  • Member - Ms Betsy Woods / Member - Mrs Mary Topliss / Chair of Resources Risk and Audit Committee - Mr G Blake
  • Trustee and Chair of Resources, Risk and Audit Committee
I became a trustee after completing the audit and accounts for over five years as part of an external audit team. From my short visits at the Academy I immediately understood what it meant to part of the Scartho Junior family and with the small interaction I had with the pupils at Scartho Junior Academy they were always polite and cheerful.

Mr Neville Rice

Mrs Jill Dyson

Job Titles:

I have lived in the area for over 25 years and seen the difference Scartho junior Academy have made to many children including my own. I had two twin boys go through school many years ago. I am totally committed to further helping the education and development of present and future learners. This commitment has taken place whilst I have been a governor for over 20 years. During this time, I have seen the school and the pupils (past and present) embrace the challenges that society has placed upon them. Through my continued role as a trustee, I want to be able to have a positive impact on the lives of the current learners, and the ones yet to come to us.

I became a parent governor while my son was attending SJA. My first governing role began in 2018 and when my son moved on to secondary school I stayed on the committee. I have been Vice Chair of the Full Governing Board and Chair of Pupil Progress along with SEND. Recently I have taken on the role of Chair of Governors. I wanted to be able to give something back to the school and I believe in their ethos and their commitment to the children in their care and families in the community. I have worked in education most of my working life but now am a self-employed crafter with my own little business.
