Alan Bowling - Founder

Alan is co-founder of Axiom Structures and is committed to creating high-quality structural designs which are elegant, highly practical and buildable. Along with a collaborative approach with the design team this has allowed him to build many long-term relationships with developers, architects and contractors throughout London. Originally working for Cameron Taylor in London, Alan gained experience on large-scale commercial, medical and residential new build and refurbishment projects in the Marylebone area and around central London. He then moved to Pole Structural Engineers in Wimbledon, which allowed him to gain experience in high-end residential refurbishment and basement developments within confined, yet highly profitable spaces of Chelsea and Westminster. His last company was Bolton Priestley, where he worked on educational and residential buildings, before setting out to fulfil a life-long dream in co-founding Axiom Structures. Alan likes to stay heavily involved in all his projects, from concept stage to finalising details, and enjoys being hands-on when the project moves to site to ensure that it progresses in a timely manner. He enjoys working with the team to solve problems and ensure that the design and construction of project are consistently being driven forward. Alan enjoys a collaborative approach with the design team to create high-quality structural designs that are elegant and highly practical.

Andrzej Plocieniak - Founder

Andrzej is co-founder of Axiom Structures. Andrzej enjoys working closely with builders and contractors, and is often involved in groundwork and superstructure temporary works designs and inspections, as well as permanent basement design. He gained his experience whilst working with Waterman Structures on major new build and highrise buildings as well as extensive refurbishment schemes in the heart of London. More recently, Andrzej worked for Haskins Robinson Waters where he ran a number of complex refurbishment schemes with deep basements and complicated party walls arrangements in the West End, Grosvenor and the Crown Estate. Andrzej has gained excellent knowledge about many of London's most prestigious buildings and the ground conditions over his many years of experience. Andrzej's belief in collaborating effectively with contractors and builders to get the best possible outcome in both design and build processes is an invaluable foundation for Axiom Structures' economical and easy to build engineering solutions. Andrzej enjoys working closely with builders and contractors, and is often involved in groundwork and superstructure temporary works designs, including inspections. All of this in addition to the numerous permanent works he designs.

Anna Manaila

Job Titles:
  • Office Manager
Anna joined Axiom Structures in 2017 and since then she has become an integral part of the company. Working behind the scenes, Anna ensures that everything from our accounts to social events runs as smoothly as possible. Outside of work, she enjoys reading a good book, taking long walks and visiting various museums.

Daniel Jones

Job Titles:
  • Engineering Apprentice
Daniel is a first-year apprentice and the youngest member of Axiom Structures. While Daniel is more interested in the theoretical side of construction, he also enjoys looking into the more practical aspects as well. Daniel enjoys engaging with the rest of the design engineers and technicians to understand concepts while working on real projects, gaining both practical experience and theoretical knowledge simultaneously.

Diana Sarasa Borraz

Job Titles:
  • Engineering Apprentice
Diana joined Axiom Structures in 2021 after completing her General Engineering course at CONEL Capital City College. Early on she found a deep interest in CAD and 3D modelling programs which has been developed further while in Axiom Structures. She is now near completion of her Engineering Technician course as part of an Apprenticeship program and looks forward to her future growth in the company. She wants to be greatly involved in the industry and continue learning from her supervisors and colleagues. Diana's favourite things are her husband (when he cooks!) and her dog Poncho. She also loves spending time with her parents and friends and participates in numerous outdoor activities. And of course, work events where she gets to hang out with her peers are on the top of the list too! Diana is now near completion of her Engineering Technician course as part of an Apprenticeship program and looks forward to her future growth in the company.

Ellis Flaherty

Job Titles:
  • Graduate Structural Engineer
Ellis is a Graduate Structural Engineer for Axiom Structures. He enjoys developing his knowledge in designing with different materials, particularly concrete. Previously Ellis worked as a highways engineer on his placement year, before joining Axiom after completing his Masters. His goal is to continue developing and getting more involved in the engineering design and collaborating with other design team members. Outside of work Ellis enjoys playing and watching sports, as well as socialising with friends and family. Ellis enjoys developing his knowledge in designing with different materials, particularly concrete.

Hugh Gallagher

Job Titles:
  • Technician
  • Senior Structural Technician
Hugh began his career as a Trainee Draughtsman with Ove Arup & Partners working in a large drawing office surrounded by drawing boards and Rotring pens. The way drawings are now produced has of course totally changed with CAD systems such as AutoCAD and 3D modelling using Revit now the norm. However the fundamental way buildings are put together still requires good construction detailing. He enjoys being able to pull together structures that incorporate the Architects vision but also include particle construction buildability to ensure the on-site phase of the works can run smoothly. Hugh joined Axiom Structures in May 2016, having worked previously with Alan in a Structural Engineering Consultancy called Bolton Priestley. Outside of work Hugh plays 5aside football, swimming, cycling, skiing and running. Hugh is a Technician with nearly 40 years' experience who really enjoys putting different pieces of a building together to produce drawings from the original concept to construction drawings that reflect good structural design and practical construction buildability.

Junting Zeng

As a structural engineer JT enjoys collaborating with architects, which he believes is important as the two professions often work closely together in designing and constructing buildings.

Kanhaiya Bhagat Koiri

Job Titles:
  • Senior Structural Engineer
Koiri graduated in 1998 from Tribhuvan University Nepal. Koiri worked in Nepal Engineering College for 12 years where he taught Structural Mechanics Courses to undergraduate students. Worked as Consulting Structural Engineer and carried out structural design of reinforced concrete buildings, steel frame industrial buildings, communication and overhead high tension transmission line towers. Koiri started working in the UK from 2006 where he has been able to gain a variety of experience on a number of projects involving Structural Design and Detailing of different forms of building structures in almost all materials type concrete, masonry, steel and timber, and carried out structural design of small and medium size projects using ROBOT/REVIT, STAAD.Pro, Tedds and many other commercial software. He joined Axiom Structures in June 2017, initially working for Bolton Priestley on a number of small and medium scale projects undertaking the detailed design of the existing structural frame. Outside of work Koiri enjoys spending time with his family,and friend, listening to music, watching sports mainly Cricket. Koiri's key skill includes dynamic analysis and assessment of vibration response of building structure, and structural appraisal of existing buildings for strength and stability checks.

Kris Pekalski

Job Titles:
  • Structural Revit Technician
Kris is a Structural Revit Technician for Axiom Structures. He enjoys the 3D aspect of structural models and the growing role of BIM within the industry. Previously Kris spent years gaining experience as a structural engineer, so he enjoys collaborating with the design team and contractors and focus on attention to buildability of structures and undertaking site inspections. Outside of the office, Kris enjoys running and spending time with his friends and family.

Paddy Gibson

Job Titles:

Paddy began working in the private residential sector, and since joining Axiom Structures he has enjoyed developing his skills on larger and more varied schemes. He passed his Chartership exam in 2022 and is looking to become a Chartered Structural Engineer this year. Paddy enjoys working closely with the design team and is committed to solving problems to increase buildability, functionality, and aesthetics.
