Ben Price

Job Titles:
  • Sports Nutritionist
Ben is Rowe & King's sports nutritionist and is here to help you to use the food you eat around our training plans to maximise your health, adaptations to training, body composition and performance. He holds an undergraduate degree in Sports Science, a post graduate diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee and a master's degree in Sports Nutrition from the University of Stirling. He is also registered on the Sport & Exercise Nutrition register, (an arm of the British Dietetics Association) and has completed research in the lab on carbohydrate metabolism and endurance performance. He's worked extensively with athletes, having spent 7 years with one of the UK's leading sports nutrition brands, before setting up his own consultancy. Outside of nutrition, Ben's has a passion for cycling and has raced at an elite level in mountain biking, both in the cross country and gravity enduro disciplines of the sport. Having raced in events from a few minutes to multiple days long, he has first-hand experience of the nutritional challenges faced by athletes, which helps him give the best possible support to the athletes he works with. Although realising his talents lied more in supporting athlete than trying to beat them to the line, he's now focused on providing elite level nutrition support.

Courtney Rowe

Courtney was a racing cyclist in his youth, during the 1970's and has remained in the sport to this day where he currently races frequently throughout the summer across the disciplines of road, track and time trialling. Courtney has won World Championship medals on the track at Masters level and has numerous British and Welsh Championship titles to his name, on both the Road and Track. Possessing true passion for coaching - Courtney has been perfecting the art for the last 30 years where he has coached riders from all 4 corners of the World towards achieving their personal goals. You are most likely to find Courtney in the lanes of South Wales or in a coffee shop with friends!

Dan Pearson

A world class cyclist, Dan started racing bikes at age 15 and moved to Italy at age 18 to race with Team Zappi. Some good results and selection to race one of the worlds biggest bike races for U23 riders - ‘Tour de L'Avenir', representing Team GB where he was noticed by top Italian amateur team Zalf Euromobile Desiree Fior in 2015. From there he progressed onto Team Wiggins in 2016 and up to Pro-conti level in 2017/2018 with Aqua Blue Sport. With the early closure of Aqua Blue Sport, Dan returned to the UK conti scene with Canyon DHB for two years before jumping back up to Pro-conti level with Italian team Vini Zabu in 2021. Dan retired at the end of 2021 and is now in his third year of studying Philosophy at Cardiff University. Throughout his career Dan raced across Europe and gained valuable insight and experience from riding with many top riders and working with many of the best coaches, physios and nutritionists, and has been sharing his wisdom as a coach throughout his career.

Darran Carpenter

Cycling has given Darran the opportunity to travel the world and represent his country in various cycling disciplines and age categories, developing life long friendships. Darran started cycling age 10 with his uncle and dreamed of racing after watching the 1989 Tour De France on TV - at which point he was hooked. Fast forward 30 years, and Darran is still fanatical about all aspects of cycling, and is now sharing his extensive cycling knowledge and experience through Rowe & King. An Aircraft Engineer by day, Darran has developed his own bike fit / aero testing lab in his garage, helping riders to shave up to 40 seconds off heir 10 Mile TT Time overnight. Given an ideal weekend you are likely to find Darran on a group ride with Friends.

Gareth Walters

Gareth is Rowe & King's S&C coach, who's approach is all about ensuring you gain strength and power to enhance your cycling capabilities, whilst preventing injuries and to be there to support you through any rehabilitation. With 12 years of experience in the fitness industry, Gareth has been working with Rowe & King for the last two years and, dedicated to helping cyclists develop themselves in to strong and powerful cyclists, in their pursuit of conquering their physical challenges. Gareth studied at UWIC gaining a BSc (Hons) in Sport & Exercises science. His personal sporting background is Rugby, were he played at semi-professional level in both Wales and Australia, and is now a keen cyclist. With Gareth's wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for cycling, his coaching strengthens the rider off the bike to ensure it transfers for great results when on the bike. Gareth will work closely with your cycling coach, to ensure the S&C work is seamlessly integrated into your training week.

Gethin Price

Aged 5 Gethin started cycling for Maindy Flyers and raced nationally up to the age of 18. At youth level, Gethin was part of both the Welsh and British Cycling development squads, where he gained the majority of his racing experience. Gethin is a British Cycling and British Triathlon qualified coach, and has been coaching for the last 4 years in various capacities. Alongside his passion for cycling, performance and coaching, Gethin is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath. Still a keen athlete, Gethin competes in BUCS cycling and some triathlon events for the university. Gethin has been coaching for Rowe & King since early 2021 and coaches cycling and triathlon at Maindy Velodrome when he's back home in Cardiff.

Jake Siddall

Jake is a qualified Level 2 British Cycling Coach, and has been coaching in the sport of cycling for 12 years, across the disciplines of Road, Time Trial and Mountain Bike. Jake brings a wealth of real world cycling experience to the Rowe & King coaching team, to help support the delivery of our coached riders personal goals. Jake has competed in all disciplines of cycling, so appreciates what it takes to train for an event, and perform on a given day. You are most likely to find Jake with his family on the weekend - doing something outdoors, as an outdoor enthusiast!

Luke Rowe

A proud Welshman, Luke Rowe has established himself as a professional cyclist having risen through the ranks at British Cycling where he won a handful of National and European titles before making the step up to World Tour level with Team Sky in 2012. More recently with Team Sky and now Team Ineos, Luke has been Road Captain, leading Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas and Egan Bernal to their Tour de France victories. Luke has also placed 8th in Paris Roubaix, 5th Flanders and made the Podium in Het Nieuwsblaad, where he has cemented his position in the sport as one of the worlds best classics riders and lead out men.

Matt Rowe - Founder

At the age of 9, Matt was given a bike for Christmas, which was the start of his love for cycling. Racing as a kid alongside brother, Luke - cycling became a major part of Matt's childhood. At the age of 16, Matt was selected for the British Cycling Olympic Development Programme (ODP), where he represented Great Britain all round the world, including the World Junior Road and Track Championships. Matt's best achievement in cycling was becoming European Scratch Race Champion as a junior in 2005, at the outdoor velodrome in Fiorenzuola, Italy. After failing to make selection for the Great Britain Academy (U23) programme, due to illness (Glandular Fever), Matt turned his focus to education, where he went to Cardiff University to study Business Studies - a passion of his, whilst also qualifying as a British Cycling Coach. Matt spent 8 years in the corporate world (Insurance and Banking), before founding Rowe & King, which launched Between us, we have been informally running a coaching business for years. It's in our personalities to offer coaching advice and guidance where we see opportunities for improvements, and with the wealth of diverse knowledge and experience around the table, Rowe & King was born. 2015 was the official launch of Rowe & King, which has since grown to a team of 11 professionals (Matt, Courtney, Luke, Dani, Jake, Jodie, Kinsey, Ryan, Tom, Gareth and Ben) who are all focused on one thing - helping our coached riders improve and work towards achieving their goals.

Neale Watkins

Neale has been a multi discipline sports coach for the last 17 years, having worked with Rowe & King since 2015, in a coaching and mentorship role. Neale now coaches a range of athletes with endurance orientated goals. Neale has managed racing teams throughout Europe, competing in UCI competitions and securing podium placings. A natural ‘captain', Neale regularly captains and leads Rowe & King teams on Zwift - helping to introduce cyclists fearful of racing IRL, in to regularly racing in the virtual world of Zwift. As an avid cyclist and coach, Neale combines his analytical style with a highly personal touch, to ensure his coached riders are getting the most out of their training.

Pete Kibble

Pete is an ABCC qualified level 3 coach with many years of national and international racing under his belt. His highlight being representing Wales in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the individual time trial and the road race. Since deciding to stop pursuing bike racing as a career, Pete has concentrated his efforts on passing on his learnings to other riders looking to get the best out of themselves through coaching with Rowe & King. You will most likely find Pete at BikePark Wales as of a weekend, ripping down the green trails on his mountain bike.

Ryan Watkins

Originally coached by Rowe & King back in 2015, Ryan has since developed in to Elite racing cyclist having competed across much of the world. After being coached by Rowe & King, Ryan started using his experience and knowledge of training to coach a few riders himself, which over a period of a few years led Ryan coming ‘in-house', and joining the Rowe & King. With a very pragmatic and adaptable approach, Ryan is currently helping cyclists of all abilities improve.

Tom Moses

Tom is a British former professional cyclist, graduating through British Cyclings system of Talent Team and U23 Academy which saw Tom work with some of the worlds best cycling expertise. Tom has competed in World Championships, European Championships, Commonwealth Games, plus a whole host of UCI Races including the Tour of Britain and Rutland-Melton International which he won. Tom has been coaching with Rowe & King in various capacities since 2016, bringing a unique blend of first hand cycling experience and coaching theory to his style of coaching. Alongside coaching, Tom is a Tree Surgeon and remains a passionate cyclist, enjoying mountain biking, road riding and training on Zwift.
