During my 35 year teaching career in Lancashire I was the Headteacher of three different primary schools and an advisor for the Local Authority. I moved to Llantwit Major in 2013 and live just a few hundred metres from the school. I bowl for Llantwit Major, sing in the St Donat's Atlantic chorale and was a governor at Eagleswell during its final year.

James Emery

James is a first-time Parent Governor. he has lived in Llantwit Major for 33 years, is married to Debbie and has 4 children, two of which; Katie and Ben attend Ysgol Y Ddraig. He runs 2 businesses with his brothers - COS Group and Skogstad UK. James also sits on both the Board of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce and Hokkei; the takeaway concept launched by Cardiff-based 2014 ‘Masterchef' finalists. He is a life-long Cardiff City fan, and is keenly involved in the local live music scene. He is excited about contributing to a new chapter in the education of the young people of Llantwit Major.

Miss Rebecca Cadman

Rebecca Cadman has experience of teaching across the entire primary age range. Her philosophy is focussed upon child centred learning where every individual is happy and knows they are a valued member of our school; ensuring wellbeing is firmly built into the foundations of our new school. Rebecca has had experience leading across the whole curriculum. She has vast experience in leading with PSE and developing a whole school integrated approach to Health & Wellbeing; having piloted the NBAR (SELFIE) wellbeing project and supporting it's roll out across the Central South Consortium. She currently leads on both Curriculum Development and Assessment, both identified as areas of sector leading practice by Estyn, in her previous post. Also, as a former Additional Learning Needs Coordinator, she is fully aware of the importance of ensuring that learning opportunities meet the individual needs of each child, personalising all learning. Rebecca is a qualified head teacher and is a certified trainer; delivering programmes to develop teachers and school leaders in the UK and overseas. An outcome of her broad experiences and drive for achievement is reflected through the school's constant development of innovative & creative learning experiences.

Mr Ty Golding

Ty Golding has experience of teaching at every level of primary education, including nursery. His philosophy for learning is built upon a child centred approach; every child has the right to the highest quality learning experiences and opportunities in order for them to achieve their very best. Ty Golding grew up in a small town, joining the Army at the age of 17. After several years service, followed by an extended period of travelling he returned to Cardiff to study and became a teacher. He has a number of years experience, teaching at every level of primary education, including nursery. He was a member of the original ministerial task & finish group that produced the report - Find it, Use it, Make it, Share it: Learning in Digital Wales and is a current member of the National Digital Learning Council. Ty enjoys coaching the Vale of Glamorgan Schools district rugby team, twice winners of the national DC Thomas Cup and the DC Thomas Plate since 2012. He lives in Penarth with his wife and two children, Morgan and Nansi.

My name is Sally Hanks, I have lived in Llantwit Major since I was 5 years old. I have three sons who attended LLanilltud Fawr Primary School and Llantwit Major Comprehensive. I sat as a parent governor to both schools some years ago. I decided to stand as a Town Councillor was got elected in May 2012 and it is in that capacity that I now sit on the Ysgol Y Ddraig Governing Body as a Minor Authority representative.
