Adam Bunkle - CFO

Adam joined Hayes + Storr in 2005 as the Finance Manager to lead the accounts department. He became a Partner in 2012 and then Finance Director in 2014. Adam comes from Norfolk. He attended the University of Reading where he received a degree in Psychology. He then joined a local firm of chartered accountants where he qualified as a chartered accountant in 2002. He served with Norfolk Special Constabulary for 10 years, becoming a Special Sergeant and received his long service medal from King Charles at a ceremony at Sandringham. Adam enjoys spending time with his family, walking his two Labradors and reading history books. He is active in his local community and is chairman of North Creake Parish Council, a trustee of North Creake Village Hall, a trustee of the Richard Manseur Almshouse, a trustee of the Fakenham Charities and the treasurer of the Friends of All Saints Church Waterden. He also acts as an Independent Examiner of Accounts for a handful of churches in the local area; the usual fee being a bottle of red wine!

Anissa Hallworth - Managing Director

Anissa joined Hayes + Storr in 2011, having worked in the Norfolk area for 7 years, as a Solicitor and Director and is Head of the Litigation Dispute Resolution Department and the Employment Department. Anissa deals with all types of dispute resolution matters and acts for both Employers and Employees in all aspects of Employment Law. Anissa represents a number of individuals and companies in court disputes and has successfully negotiated very good settlements on their behalf. She has also won a number of Employment Tribunal Hearings where she completes the representation of clients herself in the Employment Tribunal and completes her own advocacy in both the Employment Tribunal and the county court. Anissa has won a number of high profile claims for clients in the court and the Employment Tribunal. Including most recently, a claim against a local council for disability discrimination. She also acts for employers and has successfully defended a number of Employment tribunal claims against them. Anissa has been the Training Officer for the local Law Society for the last 5 years and also completes a large amount of work with local charities and pro bono legal advice for charities. On a personal level, Anissa is married and enjoys walking and cycling. She is a member of a number of local groups and enjoys entertaining and reading.

Chris Cosgrave

Chris joined Hayes + Storr in March 2003. He is responsible for IT throughout all of the Hayes + Storr offices. Chris was born in Norfolk, is married and has two young children. Chris is an avid football supporter and a keen allotment gardner. Chris was a late entrant to the legal profession, deciding to study law at university at the age of 28. He qualified in 1995 and has practiced residential conveyancing for almost 20 years. His work includes freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers of equity, re-mortgages and first registrations. When he's not working, Chris enjoys singing with a chamber choir in Norwich and driving his 1972 Alfa Romeo.

Claire Burns

Claire joined Hayes + Storr in 2016 as a Legal Secretary in the property department and qualified as a residential conveyancing paralegal in August 2022. She undertakes a range of residential property matters including sales and purchases, first registrations and transfers of equity. Claire lives in Norfolk with her partner, three Sons and two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys long coastal walks and entertaining with friends and family, and loves to go camping.

Daisy Leask

Debbie Pearce

Debbie joined the property department at Hayes + Storr in October 2017. Her expertise covers all aspects of buying and selling residential property and also includes advising landlords on Assured Shorthold Tenancies and their obligations to tenants. Debbie became a Graduate Legal Executive in 2005 and worked for ten years at Shelter, where she provided legal advice and advocacy on homelessness and housing issues. Debbie returned to conveyancing in June 2016 working in Lincolnshire before relocating back to Norfolk. She was accepted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in March 2020. She lives in Norfolk with her husband, two children and two dogs and loves being near the coast.

Diane Raven

Diane joined Hayes & Storr in October 2018 and specialises in all residential conveyancing including purchases, sales, transfers of equity, mortgages, land and plot sales and voluntary first registrations. Diane has worked in conveyancing ever since she left school when she initially worked at W F Smith & Co in Swaffham. She qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 1995. In 1999 she went to work at Fraser Dawbarns in King's Lynn, where she had a large repeat client base, until she returned to working in Swaffham for Hayes & Storr. Diane has worked in Conveyancing for her entire career and has vast experience as well as local knowledge of West Norfolk and surrounding areas. She provides straightforward advice and is always available to talk in person or on the phone.

Ed Harris

Ed was born and educated in Norfolk. He attended the University of Lincoln where he achieved a First class LLB (Hons) Law Degree. Ed completed his work experience at a top law firm in Norwich. During his postgraduate studies Ed joined Hayes + Storr in March 2021 as a Paralegal in the Private Client Department. He started his training contract with Hayes + Storr in October 2021. Ed specialises in the drafting of wills, powers of attorney and the administration of estates. Emma George

Emma was born and educated in Norfolk. She has lived in Fakenham for most of her life. She attended Nottingham Trent University where she took an LLB (Hons) Law Degree. She then went on to study the Legal Practice Course and a Masters in Law which were both achieved with a Commendation. Emma has undertaken in-house work experience both in Norfolk and Nottingham. Upon the completion of her studies, Emma joined Hayes + Storr in September 2019 as a Paralegal in the Family Department. Outside of work, her hobbies include reading and travelling. Emma spent a gap year prior to her University studies volunteering in a local village and school in Thailand. She often goes on long country walks and enjoys visiting the Norfolk coast. Emma has experience in all aspects of family law including: divorce, domestic abuse, children matters, matrimonial finances and change of name deeds. Her advice is tailored to each individual circumstance and she will encourage clients to consider alternative methods to court proceedings to reach a settlement; including negotiation and mediation. However, court proceedings are sometimes necessary and she can help and provide advice through this very difficult process. Emma specialises in advising elderly clients. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and The Association of Lifetime Lawyers. Emma joined Hayes + Storr in February 2020 to work in the Private Client Department. She completed a Degree in Politics at the University of Exeter, and subsequently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Guildford, obtaining her Law Degree at the same time. Emma Stuart

Emma manages marketing communications for Hayes + Storr. She coordinates the efforts of team members and third party contractors to deliver creative, analytical, digital and commercial activities. In 2016 she implemented a firm-wide rebrand involving a three-way agency pitch which led to a more audience focused approach and an up-to-date look & feel of the corporate brand. Before joining Hayes + Storr, Emma worked with international corporations, consultancies and charities. For eight years she worked in Central London delivering media campaigns and promotions for major and independent record labels, including: EMI, Parlophone, Virgin Records, Real World Records and Blue Note Records. In this role she helped achieve many No.1 and top-ten positions in the UK music charts. She has a BA Honours Degree in Art & Design and a Professional Diploma in Journalism. In her spare time, Emma loves walking with friends at the coast, listening to music and cooking. She is interested in contemporary art, travel, world affairs, politics, economics and history.

Gerald Bloye

Jane Arnup

Jane has worked at Hayes + Storr for over 36 years. She specialises in wills, probate, powers of attorney, Court of Protection deputyships and elderly client services. She qualified as a member of STEP in 1996 and later as a member of Solicitors for the Elderly (since rebranded as The Association of Lifetime Lawyers). Jane was born in Buckinghamshire and brought up and educated in North London/Hertfordshire. She came to Norfolk in 1974 after marrying a Norfolk man. She has two rescue dogs, enjoys cooking and vegetable gardening. On Jane's ‘wish list' of things to do, she has achieved: flying over the Massi Mara in a hot air balloon, riding a camel up a mountain, going on safari, swimming with dolphins and riding elephants.

Jennifer Taylor

Jeremy Elliott

Jeremy works at our Holt office in our Commercial Property Department but also deals with all aspects of residential conveyancing. Jeremy originally joined Hayes + Storr in November 2015 having graduated from the University of East Anglia with an LLB (Hons) Law degree. Here he undertook his training with the Institute of Chartered Legal Executives in January 2017 being accepted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in February 2020. He has since worked for a firm of solicitors in Norwich specialising in residential conveyancing and returned to Hayes + Storr in September 2022. Upon his return, he has obtained dual qualification as both a CILEX Lawyer and Licensed Conveyancer and was promoted to an Associate of the firm in January 2024. Jeremy is a keen sportsman and plays cricket for Swardeston Cricket Club and hockey with Norwich City Hockey Club; he also enjoys playing tennis and a round of golf when fixtures allow.

Jim Pallister

Jim joined Hayes + Storr in 2000 and became a partner in 2007. He is now the director responsible for the Holt office and is Head of the Property department. Jim specialises in property law including agricultural, commercial and residential conveyancing. Having gone to school in Paris, London and North Devon, Jim went on to study philosophy at Kings College London. He has a particular interest in ethical and political philosophy. He did a post graduate diploma in law at Kingston University before going on to the College of Law. After leaving Law school Jim worked for the Hoxton Trust Legal Advice Service providing housing, benefits and immigration advice. He then went on to work as a political researcher for a local Norfolk MP. Jim got back into law working for a West End music and media law firm before joining Hayes + Storr. Jim is a keen sportsman and plays hockey for Norwich City Hockey Club, cricket for the Nocturns and tennis at the Cromer Tennis Club. He sails on the Broads and is a member of the Norfolk Punt Owners' Club. He also enjoys skiing and is a member of the Norfolk Ski Club. Jim, who is married with four children, spent much of his childhood in Norfolk and now lives just outside of Holt.

John Newham

John moved back home to the UK in 2006, having spent almost all of his life in Zimbabwe, where he qualified as a legal practitioner in 1975. Having completed his conversion exams, John was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in November 2007. John and his wife are enjoying living in Norfolk and he lists his interests as first and foremost his grandchildren, followed by golf, watching most sports, travel and the flora of the UK.

Having come from a commercial background, John was a late entrant to the legal sector. He read law at London Guildhall University and trained with a firm in Kent before qualifying as a solicitor in 2006. In 2007 John moved to live and practice law in Norfolk where he has strong family ties. When not working, John occasionally plays piano and is a keen baker of bread. Other interests include following Portsmouth FC and reading works on economic relations and political history.

Kieran Athow

Kieran has lived near Fakenham for most of his life and was brought up in a family who worked almost entirely in different areas of the legal system. Therefore it comes as no surprise that he has been interested in law ever since he was a child. He achieved 100% in his A-level law exams and went on to study an LLB (Hons) Law Degree at the University of Leicester. He then carried out his Legal Practice Course (Post Graduate Diploma) at Anglia Ruskin University where he achieved a distinction. He completed work experience at a top law firm in Norwich and joined Hayes + Storr in 2017 as a Paralegal. He started his training contract in January 2019 and qualified in December 2020. Laura is a local girl having lived in Wells for 21 years, she is married and has recently become a mum. She enjoys her family, socialising with friends and walking her black Labrador. Laura is a Chartered Legal Executive in the Private Client Department, having joined the firm in 1999 and subsequently qualifying and being admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 2009. She specialises in many aspects of private client services including the drafting of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, estate administration and elderly client services. Laura is married with two children and lives on the North Norfolk coast. She is a member of a local running club, enjoys walks on the beach and has recently taken up kayaking.

Maria Endall

Maria joined Hayes + Storr in 2018 having trained and qualified as a solicitor in 2005 at a firm in Middlesex. Maria completed her Degree in Law with Psychology at Staffordshire University and then went on to complete her legal practice course at The College of Law in Birmingham. After her first child was born, she decided to take a break from her career as a solicitor to bring up her two young children. During her time away from the law, she set-up her own successful child-minding business enabling her to stay at home with her children, whilst also earning an income. She then worked as a marriage registrar with Norfolk County Council before embarking on a return to her legal career in the Hayes + Storr Family Department. Maria can assist with all family matters, including relationship and marriage breakdown, and ancillary financial relief, but her particular interest and specialism is in private law children cases. Recently, Maria has worked on cases involving removal of children from the jurisdiction of England and Wales, and where one parent lives in a non-EU country. These cases demonstrate the added complexity of peoples' worldwide travel to the arrangements for their children when they separate. Maria also has experience of dealing with cases of alleged abuse of children, or of domestic abuse of one of the parents. Where such allegations are made, the court has a duty to consider making findings on such allegations by way of a Fact Finding Hearing. Maria has experience of guiding clients through such complex and highly emotive proceedings. Maria is an Associate Solicitor within the family department at Hayes + Storr and heads up the children law team. She is a member of Resolution and is dedicated to solving disputes effectively and respectfully. She is a specialist in private law children work and has worked on a wide range of cases including applications to remove children from the jurisdiction of England and Wales, including to non-Hague Convention countries. Maria also has extensive experience of dealing with cases of serious domestic abuse and alleged abuse of children. In one such case, Maria appeared in the High Court on an appeal of a decision to refuse interim contact to one parent. She has experience of guiding clients through such complex and highly emotive proceedings and does so with sensitivity and compassion, with the children as the focus of her work. Maria welcomes clients from the LGBTQ+ community looking for advice on the legal implications of assisted conception on the legal parentage of their child, or in relation to child arrangements or issues arising with regards to decision-making for the child.

Melanie Robson

Mel has worked in conveyancing for the past 15 years and qualified as a lawyer in 2005. Being local, she has good knowledge of West Norfolk and the surrounding area. Married with two children, Mel is a keen football supporter and enjoys walking, reading and cooking. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of King's Lynn and enjoys helping to fundraise for local and international charities.

Miranda Marshall

Miranda is a Director, having joined Hayes + Storr as a Partner in 2008. Her specialisation is Succession and Inheritance Tax planning using the media of Wills, Trusts etc. She handles high value and more complex probate and acts as a professional Executor, Trustee and Attorney. In 2020 she moved to be joint head of the new Holt office. She has lived in North Norfolk since her childhood. She was educated at Gresham's School, Holt. She read Law at Oxford University (Lady Margaret Hall). After serving her articles with Eversheds (Norwich) and qualifying in 1991, she became a partner with Ward Gethin in 1995. Miranda has been appointed as a Notary Public and in that capacity is authorised to facilitate foreign arrangements for clients, both individuals and companies. This has enabled her to develop her interest in work for clients with overseas assets and connections. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, The Association of Lifetime Lawyers, Charity Law Association, Law Society Probate Section as well as The Notaries Society. Miranda prides herself in providing a highly personal and professional service with client care as her primary focus. Although her family are her top priority away from the office, Miranda also tries to find the time enjoying the Norfolk coast and countryside, stand-up paddle boarding, yoga, gardening, music and reading.

Nic Sheldrake

Nic originally joined Hayes + Storr in November 2000 and specialises in land law and conveyancing. He is a director at Hayes + Storr and a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. He is a Licenced Conveyancer, governed by the rules of professional conduct laid down by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, the statutory body that regulates conveyancing. Having left Norfolk College of Arts and Technology, Nic worked for Norwich Union before joining Pearson & Starling Solicitors of King's Lynn (now Fraser Dawbarns) specialising in Crown Court Criminal work and Police Station attendance. He then moved to another local firm of solicitors before joining Hayes + Storr's property team as a Chartered Legal Executive. After leaving the firm briefly in 2014 after 14 years with the busy property department, Nic returned to the Hayes + Storr team in April 2015, this time as a Director and Head of the Property Department in our Fakenham and Wells offices. Nic is well known and respected throughout the local area by both professionals and clients alike. More than 15 years of property experience teamed with his local knowledge makes Nic and excellent Conveyancer with a large repeat client base. Nic is married with a family and in his spare time enjoys running, shooting, fishing, martial arts and scuba diving. Richard Hewitt

Richard joined Hayes + Storr in 2002 and became a partner the following year. He is now a director and Chairman of Hayes + Storr Limited. Richard specialises in Town and Country Planning (both contentious and negotiated), Commercial Property (investment, development, secured lending and lease work), and the sale and purchase of small businesses. He acts for individuals, businesses and a range of local Councils. Richard is qualified as both a Solicitor and a Legal Associate of the The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and has lived for many years in North Norfolk, since his early professional days in the City of London. Richard is passionate about North Norfolk, which he enjoys with his family and his Romanian rescue dogs, and when time permits, can be found hacking round local golf courses.

Rob Colwell

Rob is a Director and Head of Family Services at Hayes + Storr. He qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and joined Hayes + Storr in 2013. Rob helps clients in all aspects of family law including child arrangements, pre & post nuptial agreements, separation agreements and change of name deeds. Clients often comment that they are impressed with the level of service which they would normally expect from a large city firm, benefitting from lower hourly rates and saved time. Rob's known professionalism and attention to detail have earned him numerous personal referrals from the Norfolk business community and he has considerable experience in mid to high value asset divorce cases. He also provides training to junior lawyers and peers. He has been a member of Resolution during his entire career and is committed to resolving any disputes in a constructive and non-inflammatory manner. He follows the "Code of Practice" and prides himself on expert file management and clear, concise and open billing. Rob has his roots firmly in Norfolk having lived here since he was five years old. He is actively involved in local and national politics and campaigned for Legal Aid provision and more recently "No Fault Divorce". Outside of work, Rob is an active member of both Rotary and chair of a local Round Table. He has helped organise significant fundraising events for Norfolk charities. His hobbies include tennis and gardening, together with a love of Europe and travel.

Robert Howliston

Robert joined Hayes + Storr in August 2009 as a Solicitor, in April 2013 Robert became a Partner. Robert specialises in Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney, Trust Administration and Tax. Robert was born in Alnwick Northumberland. He achieved a BA Hons Degree in History at Leeds University followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE) and Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Northumbria University. Robert completed his training contract with Adam Douglas & Son Solicitors, Northumberland. Outside of work Robert enjoys travelling, rugby and cricket.

Sarah Hill

Sarah joined Hayes + Storr in 2018 following a change of career to the legal profession. After a gap year in Switzerland, Sarah attended the University of Exeter, where she graduated with a BA Combined (Hons) degree in French and Italian and spent her year abroad in Rome, and at The University of Montpellier in Southern France. Sarah previously worked in the textiles industry, supplying many well-known UK clothing brands with garment production based in India and Mauritius. Having qualified as a graduate of the Institute of Export whilst working in commercial import and export roles, Sarah has always been interested in law, particularly contract law. She obtained a distinction in both the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at De Montfort University, and was awarded the Shakespeare Martineau LLP prize for commercial law. She is a member of Hayes + Storr's social committee. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and walking her two Labradors on the Norfolk beaches as well as the occasional skiing holiday!

Stephanie Connor

Stephanie joined Hayes + Storr in July 2010 as a Solicitor. She specialises in Commercial and Residential Property Law and Conveyancing. After studying Law with German in Leicester, Stephanie trained as a Solicitor in London and qualified in 2003. She then moved to Yorkshire to specialise in Property Law and practised in Leeds for some years before returning to her native East Anglia to join Hayes + Storr. Stephanie is a keen walker and studies languages in her spare time. She also has an interest in medieval history.

Susan Hipperson

Susan joined Hayes + Storr in 2011 and in April 2013 became a Director. Susan qualified as a solicitor in 2005 at US firm Jones Day and specialises in commercial and commercial property matters with a focus on agricultural law. Susan returned to Norfolk to live and bring up her children on the family farm and worked in commercial property at a local law firm for four years before joining Hayes and Storr. Susan is a fellow of the Agricultural Law Association having passed her exams in 2014 and a member of the CLA.

Susanna Mayfield

Born and raised in rural Norfolk, Susanna studied Law at the University of East Anglia and was awarded an upper second class honours degree in 2010. Susanna then moved to London to begin her Legal Practice Course with the College of Law on a part time basis. Whilst studying, Susanna was also a self employed solicitor's clerk primarily attending family matters in the Principal Registry of the Family Division in Central London. Having experienced ‘the big smoke', Susanna found that she missed Norfolk and returned in early 2011 when she joined Hayes + Storr Solicitor as a receptionist/typist/paralegal in the King's Lynn office. Susanna became a full time paralegal in September 2011 and after completing her Training Contract, qualified as a Solicitor in 2015 and is a member of our busy Litigation team. In her spare time, Susanna enjoys trips to theatre whenever possible and spending time with her family.

Yasmin joined the Fakenham office of Hayes + Storr in September 2019 to work in the Private Client Department. Yasmin completed her law degree at Hertfordshire University followed by the Legal Practice Course at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. She completed her training contract with a law firm in Norwich and qualified as a solicitor in 2017. Outside of work, Yasmin is a keen baker and enjoys reading when she gets a quiet moment to herself! She has always lived in Norfolk and in her spare time loves going to the coast with her husband and daughter.
