He undertook specialist anaesthesia training at University College Hospital, London training school and subsequently spent a year at the prestigious University Hospital in Michigan, USA. He has spent a number of years demonstrating his anaesthesia techniques, nationally and internationally, to ensure patient comfort as well as an improved rehabilitation process. He is approachable and caring. He will deliver a tailored anaesthetic to optimise your pain control and reduce your time to full recovery.

This includes regional anaesthesia whereby, in most cases, there is no need for a general anaesthetic. He will keep you safe and comfortable throughout and after the procedure.

He received specialist orthopaedic training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and subsequently spent a year in Australia on the prestigious Sydney Hip and Knee Surgeons' international fellowship. He was appointed Consultant at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2008 and was Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics from 2014-2017. His practice focuses on complex orthopaedic surgery. He receives referrals from colleagues and consultants from other hospitals for the management of difficult cases, particularly problems with previous hip and knee replacement surgery. He has been awarded seven clinical excellence awards. Privately he practices at Spire Bushey, One Hatfield and Wellington Hospitals. His sub-speciality interests include knee and hip replacement, complex & revision joint replacements, partial knee replacement, arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), ligament reconstruction, and CORIā„¢ (CT-free, robotic-assisted surgery)

Theresa Maunganidze

Theresa is a very experienced surgical assistant and a vital member of the operating team. You may meet her in theatre at the time of your surgery. In the NHS, she is employed as a specialist nurse, running the enhanced recovery programme for Orthopaedics and integral to education and follow-up of patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.
