Alan R Smith Construction was established in 2008 by local owners Alan and Carolynn Smith. Both Alan and Carolynn were born and raised on the South West Gulf Coast of Florida. Both still have very strong family ties to the area of Placida in Charlotte County. After getting married in 2002, they purchased a home locally, in which to raise their family... Alan began his construction career over 20 years ago, working for a contractor on Little Gasparilla Island. During his time with this company he assisted in new home construction. Building a house on a barrier island is a unique experience that begins with driving pylons for the house to sit on. Little Gasparilla Island adds to this uniqueness by requiring all materials, tools, and workers to travel to the island via boat. All materials are hauled from the mainland before construction can even begin.
