IRISGST - Key Persons
Arup has worked with e-commerce start-ups and in education, long before they became cool. In his 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and channel development, he has also worked extensively with the print and digital Media and in IT solutions and service sales.
Arup started his career in media sales before joining IRIS in 2002 where he worked in content and digital sales and managed alliances. In 2004, when financial planning was still taking off in India, Arup moved on to FPSB India to head their sales and marketing team. At FPSB, he was instrumental in roping in 50 financial institutions to join as charter members. He also developed a strong network of 25 education institutions offering CFP certification education programs across 60 centres with an enrolment of more than 12,000 finance professionals.
In 2008, Arup returned to IRIS. In his second innings, he leads IRIS sales across all products and services and has played a key role in the rollout of structured data services in the Indian and global market.
Arup is an MBA in Marketing from Pune University and a Graduate in Mathematical Statistics from Delhi University. He lives with his wife and two kids in Mumbai. Arup is a news junkie and keenly tracks domestic and international politics. Defence and aeronautics are his other passions.
Gautam comes with 15 years of cross-functional experience across strategy, sales, IT operations and program & project management in retail, IT and the e-learning industries. Beginning his career in IRIS, Gautam moved on to work with several corporations including the Tatas, Future Group and IBM, across several countries (India, UK and South East Asia).
At Future Group, Gautam handled key strategic projects working directly with the Group Chairman. At IBM, Gautam was a consultant with the Information Agenda team for the Asia-Pacific region helping organizations set up an information supply chain roadmap and to derive business value from it.
Gautam rejoined IRIS in 2012 after ten years of multinational and cross-functional experience with a dream to bring in transparency in the manner in which information is captured, processed and reported.
Since then Gautam has been involved in the operations and delivery of several structured data projects in IRIS. Over the last 3.5 years, he has focused on IRISGST, IRIS' suite of products for GST taxpayers, managing strategy, new market development, partner engagement, sales and delivery for the product line.
A co-founder of IRIS, Balu (or Balu Sir, as he is known) wears two hats - one as the CFO and the other as the head of the consulting, research and information practice at IRIS. Prior to founding IRIS, Balu was with CRISIL as group leader and senior analyst, and with Tata Economic Consultancy Services as a business economist.

A management accountant by profession and dreamer by will, Shilpa wears the dual hat of Domain -Head and Product Head. As Product Head, she drives product conceptualisation, management, and design and user experience for IRISGST's suite of products. As Domain Head, she leads the domain team working on the business logics, input formats and validation rules for quality GST filings.
Starting her career with IRIS in 2005, Shilpa has played a significant role in setting up the taxonomy development and consulting practice here, designing and developing taxonomies for several jurisdictions and strategically supporting regulators to frame their structured data implementation programs.
She has played a leadership role in helping IRIS develop several software products which either author, validate or consume XBRL data. Shilpa is actively involved with XBRL International where she serves on the Taxonomy Architecture Guidance Task Force (TAGTF), the Implementation Guidance Task Force (IGTF) and the Corporate Actions Working Group. For her exemplary work with the organization, she was chosen as one of the 8 global examiners for XBRL Foundation Certificate Course.
Shilpa is a Management Accountant and hold a Master's degree in Accounting from Mumbai University. She lives in Mumbai with her parents, husband and daughter. She loves reading and writing and is on a constant quest to learn more about Indian culture, philosophy and the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
