Becky Whiteley

Job Titles:
  • Senior FM Consultant
Having spent over 18 years in the FM industry, Becky has a wide experience across a number of business sectors including telecommunications and retail, and with the last 11 years being responsible for the management of large PFI contracts in the education and defence sectors. Becky has a hard services background but is also experienced in managing the delivery of soft FM in a number of different environments. Becky's areas of expertise include contractual and statutory compliance and operational contract FM service delivery improvements. Becky has gained exceptional contract management and people skills which, combined with her operational PFI / PPP experience, lend themselves to her areas of specialist input in respect of Thomson FM projects. Becky joined Thomson FM in March 2018, and has predominantly been focused on contractual and statutory compliance support. Becky is never on a Teams call without her cats. Particularly memorable was when her cat vomited in front of the camera

Ciara Holmes

Job Titles:
  • FM Consultant
With over 18 years experience within the FM industry, Ciara started her career as a helpdesk operative in 2004, and from there, completed a graduate management traineeship which gave her the foundations to build her career within the industry. Ciara has worked on large PFI contracts, project managing the mobilisation of operations, and although possessing a technical bias, she has since worked in a variety of managerial roles across hard and soft services to gain an extensive knowledge of TFM operations. Ciara has a track record in developing and implementing strategies and solutions to achieve business objectives, and possesses excellent communication skills, that enables confident engagement with colleagues, customers, contractors and stakeholders. Being a keen singer/songwriter, Ciara wrote, sang and recorded the first dance song for her wedding.

Dan Simpson

Job Titles:
  • Hard Services Consultant
Having worked in the FM industry for over 18 years, Dan has a breadth of technical knowledge relating to mechanical, electrical and building fabric. Originally trained as an air conditioning installation and service engineer, Dan has held a variety of supervisory and management roles, more recently as an Engineering Manager on a large multi-school PFI (BSF) project. He was responsible for managing the delivery of all engineering services and for ensuring statutory compliance was maintained across the portfolio. Dan specialises in working with our customers on their contractual and statutory compliance obligations and operational FM contract service delivery. He is also involved in applying his technical knowledge to a variety of asset management and lifecycle projects. Dan's happy place is up a fell/mountain, with his family, dogs and Brewdogs

David Rae

Job Titles:
  • Senior FM Consultant
Having spent over 20 years in management positions within the FM industry, David has wide experience across a number of business sectors including public, retail, finance and industry and has also been responsible for the management of large PFI contracts in the education and healthcare sectors. David has a technical hard services background but is also experienced in managing the delivery of soft FM in a number of different environments. His extensive range of knowledge and experience enables David to lead and support many of Thomson FM consultancy commissions although, since joining Thomson FM in late 2017, he has focused primarily on contractual and statutory compliance audits, bid support and a major PFI re-mobilisation project to transition nine BSF contracts and one office accommodation PFI contract following the demise of Carillion. David has an unrelenting ability to crowbar a song by Prefab Spout onto every single Thomson FM Spotify playlist

Ella Woolfenden

Job Titles:
  • Office Administration Assistant
Prior to working at Thomson FM, Ella was an apprentice working on her Business and Administration level 3 NVQ qualification. She joined Thomson FM with the desire to continue her apprentice qualification and gain the experience of working within a professional FM consultancy. Ella recently completed the 'Introduction to Facilities Management' course with the IWFM, as a building block to her future career. Ella has also completed her 'First Aid in the Workplace' qualification. She assists our consultants, and works closely with our Office Manager, Rebeka. Outside of work and sometimes in work, you will usually find Ella with a tennis ball in her hand, ready to throw it to her gorgeous puppy, Ralph

George Mason

Job Titles:
  • Asset & Data Co - Ordinator / Junior Surveyor
George is responsible for the analysis and quality management reviews of asset data and he specialises in supporting all our asset and survey management projects. In his role as Junior Surveyor, George has worked on several of our asset collection survey projects both in the UK, as well as overseas. He is currently undertaking the CIBSE Online learning introduction to M&E Building Services (FM) Module, to supplement his ongoing technical knowledge George is Thomson FM's resident skateboarding expert

Heath Taylor

Job Titles:
  • Hard Services Consultant
Heath has worked within the FM industry since immigrating to the UK from Zimbabwe in 2004. After moving to the UK, he qualified in Air Conditioning installation and servicing which later evolved more broadly into HVAC and mechanical services maintenance. His experience within FM spans across defence, corporate, government and custodial sectors and has allowed him to gain strong operational management and service delivery experience, with a specific focus on Hard Services. He has worked in a number of middle to senior management roles, more recently in a PFI custodial environment as the Head of FM, responsible for leading the department and delivering consistently high levels of statutory compliance to rigorous standards. When time permits, Heath is Thomson FM's resident Bob Mortimer, as he loves nothing more than to spend a day afloat on his kayak, having 'Gone Fishing', but alas usually does not catch anything

Mark Whittaker

Mark has a strong background in FM service delivery, having worked in the industry for over 19 years. He possesses client solutions, procurement, strategic and operational experience across a number of FM business sectors, including central and local government, education, retail, leisure and health. In 2021 Mark was elected to the position of Chair of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) and is a high profile and respected figure within the FM industry, with extensive contacts throughout the sector. He is also a regular guest contributor to several FM trade publications. Mark is responsible for the day to day operation of our consultancy business, as well as organic and new business growth, client relationship management and supporting in the delivery of a wide range of FM consultancy commissions and compiling reports and other outputs required in order to meet the clients' requirements and expectations. Mark is also our trained Mental Health First Aider. Matthew Vanstone

Having spent over 9 years in the FM industry, Matthew has wide and varied experience across a number of business sectors, including highly regulated manufacturing environments, defence, commercial and retail. Matthew has extensive TFM contract management experience, having managed the delivery of FM services in a number of different settings. Educated to degree level, Matthew supports in the delivery of a varied range of FM consultancy commissions, including, contractual and statutory compliance obligations and operational FM contract service delivery. He is also involved in supporting a variety of asset management and lifecycle projects. Matthew was promoted to a FM Consultant in July 2022 Matt once appeared on the TV programme 'Holidays from Hell', with a suitably angry expression

Rebeka Kay

Rebeka ensures our office operation runs smoothly. She is a trained primary school teacher and prior to joining Thomson FM, Rebeka worked as a Support Team Leader at a legal practice in Manchester. Rebeka has completed the IWFM 'Introduction to Facilities Management ' course. Rebeka is responsible for the ongoing management of our ISO9001 accreditation for our quality management systems. Rebeka is also our trained Mental Health First Aider One of Beka's favourite things is to work from home with her 3 year old son, who enjoys joining in on Teams calls in various states of undress

Roger Thomson - Managing Director

Job Titles:

With over 20 years' experience of FM and life cycle consultancy, Roger has ultimate responsibility for all Thomson FM's consultancy commissions. He specialises in particular in the delivery of FM audits and the development of FM strategies, often leading into client-side contract procurement support roles. Roger has vast experience in the PFI / PPP sector having worked extensively with FM contractors, SPVs and local authorities on PPP projects in education, health, judicial, custodial, defence and police sectors. His PPP experience includes bidding, mobilisation, operational improvement and commercial consultancy including detailed payment mechanism reviews and development. His wide-range knowledge of FM gained through his previous role with an international quantity surveying and project management partnership and since setting up Thomson FM in 2003, enables Roger to provide value-adding support to any project, drawing on his experience to tailor our consultancy outputs to meet the specific needs of each of our clients. Roger claims never to have said, "I think I have too much decking in my garden"

Sam Morris

  • Projects Co - Ordinator
Prior to joining Thomson FM, Sam was a fundraising manager for Rossendale Hospice. Her role involves the co-ordination of all our asset surveying projects. This includes surveyor induction, making the necessary access arrangements and then planning and co-ordinating the survey project from start to finish, whist closely liaising with our customers and surveyors throughout, including reviewing the data output. Sam has undertaken the 'Introduction to Facilities Management' course provided by IWFM Sam once had a conversation with the footballer David Platt at an airport, not because she recognised him for his football exploits, but because she mistook him for a friend of friend

Sophie Roberts

Job Titles:
  • FM Support Consultant
Having worked in the FM industry for over 7 years , Sophie has wide and varied experience across a number of business sectors mainly focused within the PFI arena. Having worked within the support, operational and management of facilities Sophie has established a good understanding of what is needed to ensure a facility and business are working both efficiently and within statutory compliance obligations. Sophie is educated to a degree level and is working towards finishing her accredited IWFM award. Throughout her FM career Sophie has worked nationally on demobilisation of contracts and improvement works. Sophie's favourite song is "C'est La Vie' by B*witched and cannot stop herself dancing to it, when she is 'lucky' enough to hear it.

Vanessa Mason

Job Titles:
  • Head of Asset Management
Vanessa is responsible for the management of all asset and condition surveying, labour-loading and CAFM and data management consultancy projects within Thomson FM. Her experience includes the mobilisation and management of major asset and condition survey projects such as at Defence Science and Technology Laboratories (DSTL) and National Air Traffic Services (NATS), the establishment and management of FM helpdesk functions (including the first FM helpdesk for Marks and Spencer) and numerous asset labour-loading projects for FM contractors bidding for opportunities. Vanessa has provided expert support to operational projects, including PFI schemes, to improve the effectiveness and contractual compliance through procedural, CAFM system and reporting improvements and automation and through familiarisation and training of FM contractor staff. Her excellent analytical and data management skills enable Vanessa to quickly assess and interrogate data to achieve the required outputs efficiently and in a well-presented format. With or without the influence of gin, Vanessa is known to dance on the nearest available table, as soon as she hears the opening bars of The Killers "Mr Brightside"
