Arlene Gaylord was named assistant director of the FBI's Information Management Division in June 2020. She had most recently served as the assistant director of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity Affairs. Ms. Gaylord joined the FBI as an honors intern in 1991, assigned to the Visual Investigative Analysis Unit at Headquarters. She was hired full-time in 1992 and served as a Spanish language specialist at Headquarters and at several field offices. Ms. Gaylord was promoted to supervisory language specialist in 1998 for the San Diego Field Office. In 2004, Ms. Gaylord became an intelligence analyst in San Diego and moved to the Sacramento Field Office as a supervisory intelligence analyst in 2009. She was named a senior supervisory intelligence analyst in 2010 and led the Western Regional Intelligence Group. Ms. Gaylord returned to FBI Headquarters in 2012 as the national program manager for the Joint Regional Intelligence Groups-the interagency U.S. Intelligence Community teams that centralize intelligence collection and analysis regionally against shared threats. In 2013, she was promoted to chief of the Language Services Section in the Directorate of Intelligence. She served as the FBI's senior authority for all foreign language and culture-related matters and led the Foreign Language Program. In 2015, she moved to chief of the Global Intelligence Section in the Directorate of Intelligence. Ms. Gaylord was appointed assistant director of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity Affairs in 2016, ensuring the FBI complied with applicable federal anti-discrimination statutes, regulations, and policies. Ms. Gaylord earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from American University and a master's degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. She is a certified FBI intelligence officer and is certified as a master police instructor by the FBI and the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

Catherine Bruno was named assistant director of the FBI's Office of Integrity and Compliance in May 2019. As assistant director, Bruno ensures the FBI has the proper programs and procedures in place so employees comply with both the spirit and the letter of all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Ms. Bruno joined the FBI in 2009 as the special assistant to the general counsel, advising the Bureau's divisions on external oversight issues. She moved to a similar special assistant position in the Office of Integrity and Compliance in 2016, and was named the section chief of the office about a month later. Before joining the Bureau, Ms. Bruno was the deputy assistant inspector general at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2002 to 2009. Prior to that, she served as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1996 to 2002. She also served as a law clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Ms. Bruno earned her law degree from Boston College Law School and a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College.

FBI Director Wray reaffirmed the FBI's stance on countering AI and cyberspace threats and posed a call to action to strengthen private sector and government partnerships in fighting both domestic and foreign adversaries. Christopher Wray became the eighth Director of the FBI on August 2, 2017. Mr. Wray began his law enforcement career in 1997, serving in the Department of Justice as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. In that role, Mr. Wray prosecuted a wide variety of federal criminal cases, including public corruption, gun trafficking, drug offenses, and financial fraud. In 2001, Mr. Wray was named associate deputy attorney general, and then principal associate deputy attorney general, in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General in Washington, D.C. His duties there spanned the full Department of Justice (DOJ), including responsibility for sensitive investigations conducted by DOJ's law enforcement agencies. Mr. Wray was nominated by President George W. Bush in 2003 to be the assistant attorney general for DOJ's Criminal Division, supervising major national and international criminal investigations and prosecutions. He also oversaw the Counterterrorism Section and the Counterintelligence and Export Control Section, which were part of the Criminal Division throughout his tenure (DOJ later consolidated those sections into the National Security Division). Mr. Wray was a member of the President's Corporate Fraud Task Force, supervised the Enron Task Force, and served as a leader in DOJ's post-9/11 efforts to combat terrorism, espionage, and cybercrime with domestic and foreign government partners. At the conclusion of his tenure, Mr. Wray was awarded the Edmund J. Randolph Award, DOJ's highest award for leadership and public service. Mr. Wray was born in New York City. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1989 and earned his law degree from Yale Law School in 1992. He clerked for Judge J. Michael Luttig of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In 1993, Mr. Wray joined the international law firm of King & Spalding LLP, where he spent a total of almost 17 years practicing law in the area of government investigations and white-collar crime. At the time of his nomination to be FBI Director, Mr. Wray was chair of the firm's Special Matters and Government Investigations Practice Group.

Douglas S. Beidler was named assistant director of the FBI's Security Division in August 2022. He had most recently served as the deputy assistant director of the division. Mr. Beidler joined the FBI as a special agent in 2002. He was assigned to the Las Vegas Field Office, where he investigated national security matters, served on the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and worked human intelligence issues. He was promoted in 2010 to a supervisor in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters, working in the Internal Investigations Section. Mr. Beidler returned to Las Vegas in 2012 to continue investigating national security cases as well as criminal matters. He was promoted in 2014 to supervisor of the Joint Terrorism Task Force and oversaw all international terrorism investigations in Nevada. In 2017, Mr. Beidler returned to FBI Headquarters as the special assistant to the assistant director of the Security Division. Later in the year, he was promoted to special assistant to the executive assistant director of the Human Resources Branch. In 2019, he was selected as the assistant special agent in charge of the Counterintelligence and Cyber Branch of the Chicago Field Office. He also oversaw the Chicago Regional Computer Forensics Lab, which assists law enforcement agencies in northern Illinois with their digital evidence. In 2020, Mr. Beidler was promoted to deputy special agent in charge of the Chicago Field Office. Mr. Beidler was promoted again in 2020 to section chief of the Employee Development and Selection Program in the Human Resources Branch at Headquarters. He was named deputy assistant director of the Security Division in 2021 and assumed the role as acting assistant director. Mr. Beidler graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina. Prior to joining the FBI, he was an executive in the convention sales industry.

Michael A. Christman was named assistant director of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division in West Virginia in March 2021. The CJIS Division provides state-of-the-art tools and services to law enforcement, national security and intelligence community partners, and the public. Mr. Christman had most recently served as the special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh Field Office. Mr. Christman joined the FBI as a special agent in February 1992. He served on the Safe Streets Task Force in Salt Lake City, targeting violent gangs and Mexican drug-trafficking organizations. He also investigated violent crime and other criminal matters. Mr. Christman transferred to the Cleveland Field Office in 1997 and worked drug and terrorism cases. In 2005, he was promoted to supervisory special agent and assigned to the Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He transferred to the Pittsburgh Field Office in 2007, where he supervised violent crime, violent gang, drug, and organized crime programs. He also led the Greater Pittsburgh Safe Streets Task Force. Mr. Christman was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of Criminal, Intelligence, and Administrative Programs in Pittsburgh in 2014. He was put in charge of Pittsburgh's Cyber and Intelligence Programs in 2015. Two years later, he was promoted to chief of a Cyber Operations section at Headquarters that managed all of the FBI's cyber-criminal investigations. He also chaired the International Cyber Crimes Working Group. In 2018, Mr. Christman was named the deputy assistant director of the CJIS Division's Operational Programs Branch. He was named special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh Field Office in 2020. Prior to his appointment with the FBI, Mr. Christman worked for the city prosecutor's office in Akron, Ohio. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University and a law degree from the University of Akron.

Michael Gavin is the acting executive assistant director of the FBI's Information and Technology Branch. Most recently, he served as assistant director of the IT Applications and Data Division. Mr. Gavin joined the FBI in 1995 and was first assigned to the Las Vegas Field Office, where he investigated white-collar crime, violent crime, and organized crime matters. He was a member of the Las Vegas SWAT team, a certified Safe Streets tactical instructor, a firearms instructor, and a tactical emergency medical technician. Mr. Gavin has broad experience in multiple programs, having served in numerous leadership positions throughout his career. In 2003, he was promoted to supervisory special agent at FBI Headquarters working in the Asian Organized Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigative Division before moving to the Asia desk of the International Operations Division. In 2005, Mr. Gavin transferred to the Mobile Field Office, where he served as senior supervisory resident agent of the Montgomery Resident Agency. He returned to FBI Headquarters in 2008 as an assistant inspector and team leader in the Inspection Division. In 2010, Mr. Gavin was named assistant special agent in charge of the San Francisco Field Office. Nicholas Dimos was named assistant director of the FBI's Finance and Facilities Division in January 2022. Mr. Dimos had most recently served as the deputy assistant director of the division. Mr. Dimos joined the FBI in 2006 as a budget analyst in the Finance Division. In 2009, Mr. Dimos was promoted to a team leader in the Budget Formulation and Presentation Unit, where he oversaw budget development across several areas. In 2012, he served as an acting supervisor and transition leader during the establishment of a new procurement unit that focused on strategic sourcing, complex contracting, and workforce development. In 2013, he transferred to the development team of the Bureau's new financial system, which Mr. Dimos helped implement across the entire FBI. Mr. Dimos was named the national intelligence financial manager in 2014 and served as the FBI's senior financial liaison with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Office of Management and Budget, and Congress on national intelligence financial matters. He was promoted in 2015 to assistant section chief of the recently unified Finance and Facilities Division, overseeing budget formulation, execution, and reporting across all FBI funding sources. In 2017, Mr. Dimos was appointed as the deputy assistant director of FFD, serving as the FBI's deputy chief financial officer. He was responsible for budget, procurement, accounting, and audit functions, and led several initiatives to modernize financial services. Mr. Dimos also stood up the new procurement and budget operations at the FBI's new campus in Huntsville, Alabama. Before he joined the FBI, Mr. Dimos was a middle school science teacher in Philadelphia through Teach for America. He earned a degree in economics from DePauw University in Indiana and a graduate degree in security studies from Georgetown University.

Paul Abbate was named deputy director in February 2021. As deputy, he oversees all FBI domestic and international investigative and intelligence activities. Mr. Abbate began his FBI career in March 1996 as a special agent assigned to the New York Field Office, where he worked in the Criminal Division and served as a member of the SWAT Team. In December 2003, Mr. Abbate transferred to the Counterterrorism Division at FBI Headquarters as a supervisory special agent in the Iraq Unit, overseeing FBI counterterrorism operations and personnel deployments in Iraq. In October 2005, he deployed to Iraq, serving as senior FBI liaison officer to the U.S. Department of Defense and leading a group of FBI personnel conducting counterterrorism operations in-theater. From February 2006 to December 2009, Mr. Abbate served as a supervisory special agent within the Newark Division's Joint Terrorism Task Force. In February 2008, he deployed to Afghanistan, where he served as FBI deputy on-scene commander, leading FBI counterterrorism and personnel in-theater. In December 2009, Mr. Abbate returned to the Counterterrorism Division as assistant section chief, providing national-level oversight and guidance of all United States-based international terrorism investigations. During this time, he was a member of a team that received the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service. In July 2010, Mr. Abbate reported to the Los Angeles Field Office and served as assistant special agent in charge for counterterrorism matters, overseeing the primary branch of the Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force. In August 2011, Mr. Abbate again returned to the Counterterrorism Division, where he served as section chief, providing oversight of all FBI international terrorism investigations and counterterrorism operations external to the United States. In October 2012, Mr. Abbate was appointed special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office's Counterterrorism Division. During this time, he also served as the FBI on-scene commander in Libya. From October 2013 to September 2015, Mr. Abbate served as the special agent in charge of the Detroit Division, covering the state of Michigan. In September 2015, he was appointed assistant director in charge of the Washington Field Office, where he served until his appointment in December 2016 as the executive assistant director for the Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing all FBI criminal and cyber investigations worldwide, international operations, critical incident response, and victim assistance. In February 2018, Mr. Abbate was named associate deputy director of the FBI, where he was responsible for the management of all FBI personnel, budget, administration, and infrastructure.

Raymond P. Duda was named assistant director of the FBI's International Operations Division in February 2022. Mr. Duda had most recently served at the assistant-director level at another agency in the U.S. Intelligence Community. Mr. Duda joined the FBI as a special agent in 1991 and was assigned to work bank and insurance fraud and other white-collar crimes in the Charlotte Field Office in North Carolina. In 1995, he was transferred to the Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force, which focused on investigations of violent crimes. He was promoted to task force supervisor in 2005, and to supervisor of Charlotte's Joint Terrorism Task Force in 2008. Between 2003 and 2008, Mr. Duda served several temporary assignments overseas: in Manila, Philippines; Almaty, Kazakhstan; Bucharest, Romania; and Doha, Qatar. In 2009, Mr. Duda was named the FBI's legal attaché in Ankara, Turkey, where he focused on joint counterterrorism operations with local law enforcement and intelligence agencies. He moved in 2012 to the Global Initiatives Unit in the Criminal Justice Information Services Division in West Virginia, where he worked with foreign partners to share biometric data on terrorists and organized crime figures. Mr. Duda transferred to the Pittsburgh Field Office in 2013 as the supervisory special agent over the human intelligence squad. He was promoted in 2014 to assistant special agent in charge in Pittsburgh, overseeing the national security and crisis response programs and the FBI's West Virginia offices. In 2017, Mr. Duda was detailed to another agency in the U.S. Intelligence Community as a section chief. In 2018, Director Wray appointed Mr. Duda as the special agent in charge of the Seattle Field Office. He was promoted to an assistant-director level position and detailed to another agency in 2020. Mr. Duda earned a bachelor's degree and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Duda was a financial analyst in the private sector.

Robert Brown was named executive assistant director of the FBI's Science and Technology Branch in May 2022. Mr. Brown had most recently served as the assistant director of the Operational Technology Division. Mr. Brown joined the FBI as a special agent in 2002 and was assigned to the Miami Field Office to investigate organized crime. He also served on the SWAT team. In 2007, Mr. Brown moved to the Washington Field Office and served on the Attorney General's Protective Detail. Mr. Brown was promoted to supervisory special agent in 2009 and transferred to the Transfer Unit in the Human Resources Division at Headquarters. He later served as unit chief. In 2011, Mr. Brown was tapped to lead the Raleigh Resident Agency of the Charlotte Field Office in North Carolina. He led investigations targeting gangs and public corruption, led the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and supervised terrorism investigations. He was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the Columbia Field Office in South Carolina in 2014 and oversaw the FBI's response and investigation of the Charleston church shooting in 2015. Mr. Brown was promoted to section chief in the Criminal Investigative Division at Headquarters in 2016 and managed investigations of-and the collection of intelligence about-transnational criminal organizations based in the Western Hemisphere. In 2017, he was named deputy assistant director for the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate. He became the special agent in charge of the Louisville Field Office in Kentucky in 2018. In 2021, Mr. Brown was promoted to assistant director of the Operational Technology Division, which provides technology-based solutions to enable and enhance the FBI's operations. Mr. Brown graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. He also earned a master's in public administration from Norwich University. Prior to joining the FBI, he was a deputy sheriff for nine years.

Robert J. Contee III was selected by FBI Director Christopher Wray to serve as the assistant director of the Office of Partner Engagement (OPE) in April 2023. As OPE's leader, Mr. Contee manages the FBI's efforts to build and improve relationships and information sharing with our law enforcement partners, which are vital toward protecting the American people. Mr. Contee most recently served as chief of police for the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) of the District of Columbia, which is the sixth-largest municipal police department in the country with over 4,000 members. Mr. Contee's law enforcement career began in 1989 when he joined MPD as a police cadet. He quickly rose through the ranks, serving in a variety of assignments and districts. In 2004, he became captain over the Violent Crimes Branch, and from there, ascended to commander of various D.C. districts to include the Special Operations Division and then was promoted to assistant chief of the Professional Development Bureau. In 2018, as the assistant chief of the Investigative Services Bureau, Mr. Contee worked directly with the community to bring offenders to justice, supported the recovery of victims, and protected witnesses. He managed several divisions that supported community safety, including the Criminal Investigations Division, the Narcotics and Special Investigations Division, the Crime Scene Investigations Division, Youth and Family Services Division, and the School Safety Division. Mr. Contee is a highly decorated officer. Among many other honors, his most recent accomplishments include receiving the 2022 Congressional Gold Medal for Protection of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and the 2021 Law Enforcement Leader of the Year from the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association Foundation. Mr. Contee earned a bachelor's degree from George Washington University in professional studies with a concentration in police science. He also completed both the Management College at the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration and the Senior Management Institute for Police at the Police Executive Research Forum. He is a Washington, D.C., native raised in Northeast D.C.

Timothy M. Dunham was named assistant director of the Training Division in July 2021. Mr. Dunham had most recently served as a deputy assistant director in the Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Mr. Dunham joined the FBI as a special agent in 2002 and worked counterintelligence cases in the Chicago Field Office. He was promoted in 2007 to a supervisory special agent in the Counterintelligence Division at Headquarters. In 2009, he transferred to the Counterterrorism Division as the program manager for the FBI's extraterritorial counterterrorism investigations that originated in Western Europe. In 2011, Mr. Dunham was detailed to the Central Intelligence Agency, where he coordinated FBI human intelligence operations overseas with U.S. Intelligence Community partners. He transferred to the FBI's Albany Field Office in New York in 2012 as the supervisor of a Joint Terrorism Task Force squad, overseeing international and domestic terrorism investigations. He later served as the acting assistant legal attaché in the FBI's newly established office in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2015, Mr. Dunham was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the Albany office's criminal and administrative branches. He returned to FBI Headquarters in 2017 as the section chief of the Leadership Development Program. Mr. Dunham moved to the Washington Field Office in 2018, where he first served as the special agent in charge of the Counterintelligence Division. In 2019, he was appointed the special agent in charge of Washington's Criminal Division. He was promoted in 2020 to deputy assistant director of the Criminal Investigative Division at Headquarters, where he was in charge of programs dealing with transnational organized crime, violent crime, and operational support. Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Dunham practiced law in Richmond, Virginia. He earned a degree in accounting from the University of Richmond; Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from the College of William and Mary; and a master's degree in security studies from Georgetown University.
