Jonathan Davey

Jonathan is a native English speaker from New Zealand and has been living in Phnom Penh for 5 years. Prior to moving to Cambodia, Jonathan was a successful business owner of two businesses, one for 12 years and the last for 7years. Jonathan has completed a ITTT (International Tefl and Tesol training) certificate, passing with an A grade. He is also a certified swimming instructor and holds a current diving and firearms license with the New Zealand Police. Before joining our team at Bamboo, Jonathan taught grades 2-12 at Sovannaphumi School for 3 years and has also been a private tutor for students ranging in age from 3 years through to adults.

Penny Pennelop Davey

Penny is a native English speaker from New Zealand. She completed her education in New Zealand and has been working with preschool children for 3 years, 1 year in New Zealand at a certified childcare center where she studied for her National certificate in Early Childhood Education and 2 years in Cambodia. She enjoys her role here at Bamboo International School, especially watching the children grow both socially and academically. In 2011 Penny completed a Comprehensive First Aid Course with the New Zealand Red Cross. Penny enjoys reading, going to the movies and looking after her two younger cousins in her spare time.

Valda Skubina

Valda has classroom teaching experience for over 9 years having taught English in China, Hong Kong and Cambodia. Valda has obtained Early Childhood Montessori Education Certificate and is working towards International Diploma in Montessori Education. Valda holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and prior to teaching, she was working as a Social Worker for various charities and South Gloucestershire Council in England supporting people with Learning Difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. After ten years in England, Valda took TEFL course in Beijing, China in 2007 and started to work as an English Teacher. In 2012 Valda moved to Cambodia and has been with Bamboo Team since the School was opened. In free-time Valda enjoys reading, yoga, arts and traveling.

Victoria Davey

Job Titles:
  • Lead Teacher
Victoria is a native English speaker from New Zealand. She has earned an internationally recognised TEFL certificate course, with a practical emphasis on teaching skills, language awareness, phonology and classroom management. Apart from this, she has a NZQA qualification in Business and Computing as well as in Workplace Health and Safety.
