Alberto Mari

Alberto joined Algebris in 2022 to strengthen our coverage of the Italian equity market. Previously, he spent seven years at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Milan as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager. At CS he worked in the institutional investor team where his primary responsibility was on the Equity Italy fund, within the team he also covered global equities as analyst and co-portfolio manager. He was member of local investment committee. Prior to Algebris, Alberto worked in Zurich in the European Equity Mid Cap team, where he was an analyst for Long/Short and market neutral strategies. Alberto holds a master's degree magna cum laude in Management Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan, where he specialized in corporate finance and is a CFA charter holder. Alberto lives in Milan. His passion is running, sailing and windsurfing.

Alejandro Torriglia

Alejandro joined Algebris in 2023 to support the expansion of our investor base in Iberia, UAE and LATAM. Before joining Algebris, he completed several internships as a financial analyst at different startups for a year. Alejandro graduated from the University of Warwick in Economics and holds a MSc in Business Administration and Finance from the London School of Economics. In his free time, he enjoys rugby and history books, and he also loves to go water skiing every time he has the chance.

Alessandro Mancini

Alessandro joined Algebris in 2018 as an Analyst and is now a Trader. Prior to Algebris and since 2013, he worked at QW Capital LLP, a London-based independent asset manager where he helped developing proprietary algorithms and a quant equity market neutral strategy based on mean reversion. He holds a MSc in Finance and Investment from CASS Business School in London. Originally from Rome, he holds a degree in Business Administration from University of Rome (where he majored in Economics and Finance) and put his finance and accounting skills at the service of local charities. In his free time he enjoys playing football and travelling.

Alex Lasagna

Alex is the Deputy CEO of Algebris Investments, where he is in charge of the Business Development strategy and the middle-back office functions at global level. He built his career in asset and wealth management, first at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and later at Schroders. Before joining Algebris, together with other partners, he launched an independent asset management company in Italy, IN Alternative. Alex is Anglo-Italian and grew up between Italy and the UK. He holds a bachelor's degree in Monetary Economics from the London School of Economics and a master's degree in international relations & International Economics from Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies in Washington D.C. After his return to Italy, he also obtained a degree in Political Science from La Sapienza University in Rome.

Amedeo Sambuy

Amedeo joined Algebris in 2022 to develop the company presence in the Italian asset management market. His key responsibility is the development of the Italian institutional business through the sale of the company range of products. Prior to joining Algebris, Amedeo spent 12 years with Columbia Threadneedle as Head of Wholesale and Institutional and also had a long experience with American Express and Standard Chartered in the financial products distribution area. Previous experience includes the role of currency markets analyst for a financial consulting company. He achieved a degree in Political Sciences with an emphasis on Monetary Policies from the University of Florence.

Andrea Molteni

Andrea joined the Algebris Marketing team in Milan in 2021. He focuses on all graphic and digital marketing tasks providing with fresh ideas and creative contents for all of Algebris' branding / visual communication needs. Since 2013, Andrea has worked as Communication Designer for a number of firms. He also worked as a teacher at Scuola Mohole in Milan, where he held movie-design and film-making courses. He holds an MA in Communication Design from Politecnico in Milan.

Anna Crompton - Chief Legal Officer

Anna joined Algebris Investments as General Counsel in 2016 and took on the role of Group Chief Operating Officer in February 2020. After graduating with a degree in law from Cambridge University in 2006, Anna joined leading law firm Allen & Overy LLP where she trained and qualified as a solicitor into the corporate department in 2009. During her time there she focussed on M&A and ECM and completed two secondments at Barclays Capital and Lloyds Banking Group. Prior to joining Algebris Investments, Anna spent two years as Group Deputy General Counsel at Shore Capital, an independent investment group listed on AIM and specialising in asset management, principal finance and equity capital market activities.

Antonella Di Chio

Antonella joined Algebris in 2014 with a focus on the analysis of non-performing loan investment opportunities in Italy. Prior to joining Algebris, she worked at an Italian family office (Holding Italiana Quattordicesima), where she was covering alternative investment strategies. Antonella holds an MSc in Finance cum laude from Bocconi University, Milan. An Italian native, she also speaks fluent English. Antonella is part of Young Leaders Community of the Council for the United States and Italy. In 2019 she was awarded as Young Investment Woman of the Year in the context of the Women In Investment Awards 2019 Italy organised by Investment Europe. She has been a professional dancer for 15 years.

Benjie Creelan Sandford

Prior to joining Algebris, Benjie was a sellside banks analyst for 15 years, most recently spending 7 years at Jefferies, covering Southern European Banks (having previously worked at Nomura and Macquarie in similar roles and having begun his career at Fox-Pitt Kelton in 2008). Benjie graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Law with European Studies (LLB) in 2007. Benz Sng

Prior to Algebris, Benz spent three years at Citco Fund Services as a Senior Operations Analyst where he worked with UK and regional Asian Fund clients, providing middle office support and client onboarding. Benz is a CFA charter holder and holds a BSc in Banking & Finance (First Class Honours) from University of London. Bruno Duarte

Bruno joined Algebris in 2019 as a portfolio manager, focusing on financial credit. He began his career as a European Banks Equity Research analyst at Schroders Salomon Smith Barney (1998-2004) before moving to Fox-Pitt Kelton, a specialist equity boutique broker focused on the financial sector (2004-2006). In order to complement his equity experience, Bruno decided to join Barclays Capital in 2006; his role involved covering European financials on the bank's credit trading desk over a period which spanned the global financial crisis. Bruno moved to the buy side in 2012 with Claren Road Asset Management, a US-based hedge fund owned by the Carlyle Group, where he was a Managing Director focused across the entire capital structure of European financials. Prior to joining Algebris, in 2016 Bruno took on the role of portfolio manager at Copper Street Capital, a start-up dedicated global financials fund which won EuroHedge's Event Driven category in 2017. Bruno holds a MSc in International Securities and Investment Banking from the ISMA Centre (1998), a BA Hons (First Class) in Economics and Business from the University of Stirling (1997), as well as being a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Christian Büchler

Christian joined Algebris in November 2023 as Business Development Director for Switzerland, Austria & Germany. Christian previously worked at GAM, where he was most recently responsible for servicing financial intermediaries such as banks, family offices, insurance companies and independent asset managers in Switzerland. Prior to that, he was responsible for supporting GAM's investor base in France/Monaco, the Benelux countries and Austria and was instrumental in establishing and expanding these locations. Christian started his career at UBS and has 15 years of experience in financial services. Besides his mother tongue German (Swiss German), Christian is fluent in French and English. He loves nature, spends a lot of time sailing and is a passionate hunter.

Christian Chuang

Craig Carlozzi

Craig joined Algebris in 2023 as Co-Portfolio Manager in the Global Credit team. He focuses on corporate credit. Craig served as the director of Alternatives at Longfellow Investment Management Co as well as the portfolio manager for LIM's Credit Opportunities Strategy and co-portfolio manager for LIM's Multi-Strat Strategy. Prior to joining Longfellow Investment Management in 2019, Craig founded BulwarkBay Investment Group, LLC, a firm managing a credit opportunities strategy. Prior to BulwarkBay, Craig worked at MAST Capital Management and Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Global Corporate Investment Bank. He has been a CFA Charter Holder since 2003. He graduated with Honors from Miami University with a bachelor's degree in finance.

Craig Partington

Craig joined Algebris in 2019 as Global Senior HR Manager and is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of Algebris human resources plans and programmes worldwide. Prior to Algebris, Craig spent almost 6 years at Kirkland & Ellis in London - a US law firm dealing predominately in private equity matters - where he oversaw a growth in headcount of around 350% and led the introduction or enhancement of a number of policies, procedures and initiatives. Before that he held a position at Cleary Gottlieb, another US law firm in London. Before joining Cleary, he worked in both New Zealand and Australia for around a year each. Outside of work, Craig enjoys sport, travelling, and exploring the coffee scene of any city he finds himself in.

Davide is the Founder and CEO of Algebris Investments, a global investment manager with a historical focus on the financial sector across the capital structure. Founded in 2006, Algebris has gradually expanded its expertise and entered the global credit, Italian equity and green transition space to capture a broader set of value opportunities. Davide, a dual Italian and British citizen, is recognised as one of the world's leading experts on financial services and is often consulted by the world's central bankers and regulators on policy matters. He has been awarded the Commendatore designation, a decoration of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Davide is Chairman and Trustee of the Hakuna Matata foundation, a registered UK charity which he founded with his wife, focused on assisting orphaned children in central Tanzania. Davide is a graduate cum laude of Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and holds a Master CEMS. He played volleyball professionally in Italy from 1985 until 1990 and reached Series A1, and is a keen alpinist. Davide, a former equity analyst from Morgan Stanley, specialising in banks and top-ranked in investors' surveys, envisioned a firm built around his core expertise: global financials.

Dimitrios Karadimos

Douglas Branson

Douglas joined Algebris in July 2020 as Head of Business Development. He is based in our London office. Before Algebris, Douglas was Head of UK Distribution & a board director at GAM Investments, an independent global asset manager. He was at GAM for 16 years covering UK-based private banks, wealth managers and investment managers. In recent years, his role expanded globally to include coverage of other regions. Prior to GAM, he was a private client portfolio manager at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, where he worked for five years. Douglas has a degree in European Philosophy and Literature from Anglia University, and holds the IMC and IAQ qualifications. He lives just outside London with his wife and their four children. Outside of work, Doug enjoys playing various sports, music, motorbiking and mountain biking. Doug is a Liveryman of the Haberdashers' Company which is focused on educational and charitable activities.

Edward Smallwood

Edward has worked in the Asset Management industry for over 7 years starting his career at Invesco Perpetual before moving to HSBC Asset Management and most recently Royal London Asset Management. He has spent his career working in the Wholesale Business Development teams covering UK based Private Banks, Fund of Funds and Wealth Manager clients. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management, as well as the IMC certificate. Emanuele Tomasi

Prior to joining Algebris, Emanuele has been a member of the investment teams of Italian and pan-European private equity funds since 2011. In particular, Emanuele worked with Ambienta, a pioneer company in investment strategies focusing on environmental macro trends, Palladio Holding and Argos Wityu. Emanuele graduated from Bocconi University with a Master of Science in Finance in 2012, and he completed the INSEAD's International Directors Programme in 2021. Emanuele is a sailing and art enthusiast.

Federica Negri

Francesco Becchelli - Chief Investment Officer

Previously, Francesco was Head of M&A, Business Development and Innovation of A2A, a FTSE MIB-listed utility. Between 2013 and 2015 Francesco was CFO of Leone Film Group, a media company listed on the Italian AIM. Before this, Francesco spent 13 years at Credit Suisse and Lazard covering energy sector. He started his career in Ernst&Young in 1998. Francesco graduated summa cum laude in Economics and Business Administration University of Verona and in 2013 attended the 134 class of Senior Executive Program at Columbia University. He lives in Milan with his wife and a son, is a keen cyclist and loves skiing.

Gabriele Foà

In his position, he co-manages the Global Credit Opportunities Fund and is lead PM for the Sustainable Bond Fund. He is responsible for the macro research publications of the firm, such as the Algebris Bullet and the Global Credit Bullets. Gabriele joined Algebris in 2019. Previously, he spent four years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London as a macro and emerging markets strategist. Gabriele holds a Ph.D in Economics from Yale University, where he specialized in macroeconomics and finance. While in the US, he held positions within the Global EM Strategy team at BAML and at Roubini Global Economics, both in New York. He graduated from Bocconi University in 2009. Gabriele lives in Milan with his wife, son and two daughters. His all-time passion is football.

Gianluca Sciacovelli

Ginevra Bargiacchi

Ginevra is from a small city near Rome named Tolfa. She moved to Milan in 2016 to attend Bocconi University where she completed a BA in Economics and Finance (CLEF). She also completed a MSc in Finance at Bocconi, graduating in December 2021. Ginevra joined Algebris as an intern in July 2020 and has remained in the firm since then. She is passionate about music, from classic to electronic one, and just says that Music gives her the right pace and rhythm. Ginevra Casalegno

Ginevra is Business Development Director at Algebris and is based in London. Ginevra joined the firm in January 2015 to support business development efforts in Italy and Switzerland from our newly launched Milan office. She moved to our London office in 2018, where she maintained coverage of the institutional and wholesale markets in Italy. From London, she follows the launch of our partnerships and onboarding of our investment funds with global distributors closely. She also helps coordinate global sales efforts with our major clients. Prior to Algebris, Ginevra worked at BIP Consulting and School for Children ONLUS, an NGO which focuses on educational and charitable activities in India. Ginevra holds a MSc in Economics and Industrial Organization from the London School of Economics and a BSc in International Economics and Finance from Bocconi University. Outside of work, Ginevra enjoys skiing, swimming, and hiking. She is passionate about classic and modern literature, arts, and road trips.

Giovanni Barassi

Giovanni has been Group Chief Technology Officer for Algebris Investments since September 2023. His CTO role is focused on driving technological innovation and efficiency and ensuring that the highest level of cybersecurity is enforced across the business. Giovanni joined the Algebris in 2019 to start up and manage Algos, the firm's dedicated team specialised in the management of our private credit offering focused on non-performing loans. Prior to joining Algebris, Giovanni was Head of Digital and Open Innovation at Unipol Group, where he was instrumental in establishing the new division and launching a number of innovative digital insurance initiatives. Before this, he held roles at Accenture, a publishing company and a NPL startup, now one of the well-known top four NPL European specialist managers. Giovanni holds a degree in chemical engineering from Milan Polytechnic. He has three children and in his spare time, enjoys skiing, sailing (also participating in national competitions)and is a committed music lover and DJ.

Guido Santi

Iacopo Esposito

Iacopo joins Algebris in 2023 working on green and sustainable equity investments and policy. In his spare time Iacopo greatly enjoys biking, both in the city and in the mountains, as well as golfing, which he has been doing since he was 10. Iliyana Tsankova

She works closely with Business Development, coordinating the onboarding of new distributors and new fund launches, while also supporting the existing distribution network and clients globally. Prior to that, Iliyana was at NERA Economic Consulting, where she was part of the Securities and Finance team. In addition, she holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and BA in Business Administration from the American University in Bulgaria. In her free time Iliyana enjoys travelling, yoga and hiking.

Jacopo Fioravanti

James Friedman

James has significant experience in both the credit and high yield markets and spent the last two years working at a specialist credit asset manager in Boston before returning to Algebris at the beginning of 2022.

Karl Bauer

Karolyn Krekic

Prior to Algebris, he spent four years working in sales at Fidelity, covering large Japanese distributors and asset management companies. He previously worked at Legg Mason, SPARX and UBS Global AM. He holds MSc in International Business and Finance from the University of Reading and is a CMA charter holder. Yoichi enjoys running and swimming. He lives in Tokyo with his wife and son.
