Alexandra Roberts

Job Titles:
  • Head of Regulatory Policy and Compliance
Alex joined PIMFA in June 2017 as a Policy Adviser, where she works on a wide range of regulatory matters, engaging with policy makers and the regulator to promote members' interests. She previously worked for the Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA) in the same capacity. APFA merged with the Wealth Management Association (WMA) to form PIMFA. Alex has a legal background, having studied law at Cambridge University and was called to the Bar in 1997. She was a tenant at Lamb Chambers, Temple where she specialised in personal injury claims, contractual disputes and professional negligence. Alex has experience of advisory, drafting and court work including appearances in the Court of Appeal, the High Court and county courts.

Amanda Wall

Amanda has worked in the financial services industry for 20 years. Amanda is responsible for PIMFA's business and communication functions which include, internal systems, CRM, website, project management and social media manager. Her role at PIMFA has previously included being PA to the Deputy CEO and assisting with PIMFA's Events.

Andrew Shepherd

Andrew has worked in investment management and financial services since 1994. Prior to joining Brooks Macdonald, Andrew worked at Shepherd Associates Financial Management, qualifying as a Financial Planner and latterly holding the position of Investment Director. Andrew joined Brooks Macdonald in 2002 and was appointed CEO in 2021. He has held numerous roles across the Group, including Group Deputy CEO since 2015, and most recently CEO of the International business since 2019.

Ben King

Ben joined the PIMFA team in January 2018. He has over 12 years experience of working in financial services across various organisations, including roles at Allfunds Bank, Calastone, Northern Trust and UK Finance (Formerly BBA). His expertise extends across a number of business areas including relationship and change management, sales and proposition development, with exposure to both retail and institutional. In his position of Strategic Partnerships, Ben focuses his time on stakeholder engagement with both full and associate member firms to expand the membership offering.

Carly Norman

Carly joined PIMFA in September 2022 as a Data and Systems Administrator. Previous to her current role, Carly has worked in a variety of administrative roles including buying and music licensing. She also ran her own virtual administrative business helping small online businesses with technical support. Carly's role with PIMFA involves looking after our data to ensure it is correct and up to date. She will also be assisting members and her colleagues with any technical issues they may be having with our website and internal systems.

Ciaran Whelan

Ciaran has held various senior positions globally with the Investec group over the past 30 years. Ciaran sits on the Investec Board as an Executive Director. Before being appointed to his current roles in April 2020, Ciaran was Group Chief Operating Officer, and prior to that he was Group Director of Risk and Global Head of Private Banking. Between 2013 and 2015 Ciaran was CEO of Investec Bank Australia Ltd and prior to that, he was CEO of Investec Employee Benefits Limited. Before joining Investec in 1988 as a financial manager, Ciaran was an audit manager at KPMG Inc., having completed his articles at Coopers & Lybrand in Ireland. His qualifications include Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ireland), a Higher Diploma in Tax (RAU, South Africa) and an Advanced Management Course (INSEAD University in Paris, France).

Claire Izzard

Claire previously worked at PIMFA on a fixed term contract, she returns to PIMFA in May 2022 as Executive Assistant to the Chief Commercial Officer where she will be providing high-level day-to-day support, combined with a focus on business development and membership activities. Claire has amassed over 20 years relevant industry experience in providing exceptional operational support to C-Suite executives within investment banking, professional services, wealth management and insurance businesses.

Claire Stimpson

Claire joined PIMFA in January 2018. Claire is responsible for PIMFA's business and communication functions which include, internal systems, website and special projects. Her previous role was at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) where she worked on a wide range of projects.

David Ostojitsch

Job Titles:

David joined PIMFA in November 2022 as Government Relations and Policy Director. He is responsible for PIMFA's relationships with governments and regulators and regulatory and supervisory policy. Before joining PIMFA, David spent 16 years working across financial services change and policy, including four years as the Director of Technology and Operations at the Association of Financial Markets Europe (AFME). Earlier in his career, David worked at PwC in investment management and technology advisory.

Emma Clarke

Job Titles:

Emma joined PIMFA (then known as the Wealth Management Association) in 2011, having previously worked at Euroclear UK & Ireland (EUI) as team secretary and PA. Her role at PIMFA has included Committee Coordinator responsibilities as well as research for Business Development. Emma is now the Executive Assistant to the CEO and is responsible for providing high-level support to the CEO on a day-today basis.

Emma Evans

Emma has worked in Management Accounts for over 15 years in various industries. Emma previously worked at the Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA) who merged with the Wealth Management Association (WMA) in June 2017 to form PIMFA. Emma is responsible for various aspects of the PIMFA accounting function, including accounts management- both payable and receivable - as well as statutory reporting. Her role at APFA involved all aspects of the accounting function including management accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable as well as statutory reporting. She also dealt with all Office Management and HR.

Gary Bottriell

Gary is a Chartered Financial Planner and the Managing Partner of a financial planning and investment management firm based in Dorset serving a small but geographically diverse clientele. Prior to the merger with the WMA Gary was Deputy Chair of APFA. Gary is a Member of the Chartered Insurance Institutes' Professional Standards Board having previously been Deputy Chair of the Examiners Committee and a senior examiner in the business law, tax and pensions level six qualifications. Gary is a Lay Member of the Upper Tribunal Tax and Chancery Chamber where he makes determinations in references made by firms and individuals in respect of actions taken against them by the Financial Services regulators. From 2006 to 2012 Gary was a member of the FSA's Regulatory Decisions Committee.

Geoff Towers

Geoff brings over 35 years of wealth management and investment services experience including leadership roles at Citibank, Legal & General and Barclays International Funds Group. He was the first chief executive of Standard Life's platform business. He has worked in financial services in some 20+ countries and has experience in a wide variety of regulatory and business environments. He served as CEO of BNY Mellon's Pershing Ltd for six years before deciding to step down in 2021 to focus on a number of non-executive roles - only to discover that running fast growth companies is too interesting to leave behind - so he joined GPP as their CEO in 2022. Geoff has a particular interest in some of the more complex areas of diversity and inclusion and, in particular, in unconscious bias and how we can overcome its effects. Geoff served on the advisory board of the City of London Social Mobility Task Force.

Heidi Bryant

Heidi has worked in various financial organisations for over 20 years, this has included roles in asset management, wealth management and insurance firms. Her role involves organising all aspects of work that PIMFA does with each of its committees and working parties, from arranging the meetings to setting agendas and taking minutes. Heidi also provides day to day administrative support to the Director of Strategic Partnerships.

Helen O'Neill

Job Titles:
  • Chief Operating Officer of Tatton Investment Management
Helen is the Chief Operating Officer of Tatton Investment Management. Appointed to this role in 2015, having previously being Tatton's Head of Governance, Helen is responsible for the day to day running of the business, business services and the oversight and direction of Tatton's strategy. Helen has over 25 years' experience in governance, proposition, product development and management with roles at Barclays Wealth and AXA prior to Tatton. This experience has Helen develop and deliver Tatton's proposition to independent financial advisers and help the transformation of affordable discretionary fund management into a mass market offering. Married with one daughter, Helen is a strong supporter of diversity and inclusion and mentors a number of young women within and outside the wealth management industry.

Kevin Sloane

Kevin Sloane has worked in financial services for over 40 years. His areas of interest and expertise are wealth management operations and technology. Kevin is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and is a member of the CISI's Wealth Management Forum Committee.

Liz Field - CEO

Liz joined PIMFA (then known as the Wealth Management Association) as Chief Executive in 2014. She has 30 years financial services experience, 19 of which as a Chief Executive. She successfully transformed and advised several businesses through redefining strategy, re-branding, change management and inspirational leadership, creating profitable businesses. She has substantive experience of people and corporate culture risk, regulatory knowhow across the industry - banking, insurance and wealth management and providing good practice guidelines for the industry to adopt. She is an accredited coach and industry leader encouraging collaborative participation of diverse groups of industry experts to address sector challenges and to leverage industry resources for collective benefit. Liz holds a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck.

Magdalena Sonta

Magdalena has worked within Finance, in various industries, for over 5 years. Her last role was Accounts Assistant within the private health sector where she was responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit control and VAT. Magdalena's role covers all aspects of financial transactions.

Maja Erceg

Maja joined PIMFA as Senior Policy Adviser, EU and Government Affairs in November 2018. She is a former diplomat, public affairs and policy official with extensive experience of international, European and UK government and policy operations. At PIMFA, Maja is responsible for developing policy and implementing the associated advocacy work with key EU and UK institutions, including the European Commission, Parliament, and Council, HMG, and the FCA, on a range of European and UK legislative and regulatory issues. Prior to PIMFA, Maja worked at the City of London Corporation as an European Policy and European Regulation Adviser, focusing on Brexit related issues and on strengthening the dialogue between the UK-based financial and professional services industry, the UK government, regulatory authorities, EU institutions and Member States. While in the diplomatic service, Maja worked on numerous policy initiatives, engagement strategies and advocacy efforts, including Croatia's negotiations for membership of the EU and NATO. Maja was educated at the University of Zagreb, Croatia.

Maria Fritzsche

Maria joined PIMFA in July 2023 as Senior Policy Adviser looking at wealth management operations and technology. Before joining PIMFA, Maria held various roles within financial regulation. She is a former civil servant and studied law and legislative studies with a year working in Westminster Parliament. Maria was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2019 and holds a Master of Laws in European Social Security from KU Leuven, where she focused on pensions.

Mariana Gomes

Mariana joined PIMFA in January 2020 as Learning and Events Assistant. Mariana's previous role was at American Express working in travel. Mariana also has previous experience teaching at Secondary schools and working in Events in top hotels in the UK and abroad. Mariana now works with the Learning and Events team, organising and delivering workshops, webinars, podcasts, conferences and events here at PIMFA.

Matthew West

Matt is PIMFA's PR manager and is responsible for the implementation of PIMFA's PR strategy, campaigns and media relations. He also manages PIMFA's social media. Matt has worked in and around the financial services industry for more than 17 years, first as a journalist for, among others, the BBC, CNBC, MailOnline/Thisismoney, Channel4News and CityAM. He left journalism in 2017 moving into PR where clients included Edison Investment Research, stockbroker finnCap, accountancy firm H W Fisher & Company, trading platform Infinox Capital and asset manager, Triple Point.

Megan Harley

Megan joined PIMFA in February 2023 as Head of Design. She is the lead Creative at PIMFA overseeing all brand outputs and concepts for PIMFA Internally and externally. Megan has over 8 years' experience, specialising in brand, campaigns, strategy and graphic design predominately in the B2B and Corporate world. Prior to PIMFA Megan worked at Coriolis Technologies a leading trade data and analytics provider (SaaS), offering real-time insight into global environmental, social and governance efforts as Director of Creative. Megan managed all content marketing and branding/creative outputs. In addition to this Megan was the Digital Creative Director at H/Advisors Cicero, part of the Havas Group for 7 years. Heading up the digital team leading on creative, working across graphic design, video, and creative/digital strategy. She has vast experience predominately working across the B2B, corporate and financial industries. Megan has worked with clients such as HS2, L&G, AXA, Santander, and HSBC and many more. She has a vast creative skill set and experience across product design, digital marketing, video/animation, UX/UI and specialising in graphic design and illustration. Megan has also led the H/Advisors team to achieve creative awards for clients such as RSA, PIMFA and Legal & general. Megan has a First-Class BA Honours degree in Product design and engineering, from Middlesex University and has Exhibited in Design Museum as a shortlist for the 2015 AXA PPP Health Tech & You Awards.

Michael Morley

Michael joined Deutsche Bank in July 2017 following seven years as Chief Executive of Coutts & Co. From September 2010 he was also Chairman of the Board of Royal Bank of Scotland International, the offshore banking business of the RBS Group in the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man and the Crown Territory of Gibraltar. He spent eight years with Merrill Lynch as Managing Director for UK Private Banking and Director of Private Wealth Services for Europe and the Middle East and five years as Head of International Private Banking at Barclays Wealth and CEO of Barclays Switzerland. He is a Board Director of Walpole British Luxury and in 2014 he became a founding member of the China Advisory Council of the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. In 2016 he was appointed to the Board of the British Bankers Association and Chair of the BBA Private Banking and Wealth Management Advisory Panel now part UK Finance. Michael is married to a Spaniard, has two sons and studied Modern and Medieval Languages at Christ's College, Cambridge. He lives in London and Madrid.

Michella Oswald

Prior to her current role, Michella worked at Citi, delivering high-profile events across EMEA, working closely with internal and external stakeholders from all businesses of the bank. Michella has over 10 years' experience working in events in various industries including banking, HR, Finance, Marketing, Technology and Aviation, producing events all over the world including Europe, Asia and North America. She holds a BA in International Events Management from the University of Brighton.

Mike Cahill

Michael Cahill joined PIMFA in April 2020, firstly joining the Policy team, as a Senior Policy Advisor (focusing on operations and technology), before moving onto the Strategic Partnerships team, focusing on stakeholder engagement with both full and associate member firms. Prior to joining PIMFA, Michael began his career in various operational roles, as well as working in the Private Client team. Michael has worked for a number of financial services IT and service providers.

Mike Morrow

As Parmenion's Chief Commercial Officer, he is responsible for growing mutually beneficial relationships with both existing and new customers, and for strategic mergers and acquisitions that strengthen the Parmenion offer in the wealth management sector. Over 30 years' experience in distribution management and proposition development at AXA, HSBC, Ascentric and Openwork. This experience gives Mike the broad perspective of both provider and customer. A believer in the need for innovation in the highly competitive platform/investment marketplace through genuinely symbiotic relationships with partners. Born and raised in Belfast. Ireland & Ulster Rugby supporter and proud dad to 3 grown up daughters, which means he has grown very used to ‘constructive feedback' over the years.

Myles Marmion

Nick Bettison

Based in London, Nick sits on a number of Redmayne Bentley's key control committees and is a member of the Main and Executive Boards where he is central in Redmayne Bentley's business strategy and development.

Nigel Ross-Scott

He came to the City as a Media Consultant in 1998 to advise on acquisitions and has continued working in this environment as a consultant in start-up and mezzanine finance, tax-efficient investment, strategic advice and business development, working in Japan, Austria, USA, the Middle East and the UK.

Nyan San Lwin

Nyan is a political scientist by training, and a Master of Public Policy degree holder from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining PIMFA, Nyan was a liaison manager at Solidarities International Myanmar: a not-for-profit NGO providing humanitarian support in refugee camps. Nyan has a wide range of knowledge in the international development, and a specialist focus on vulnerable populations including but not limited to the homeless, refugee and asylum, ethnic and religious minorities, and LGBTQ+ members. Her professional and personal mission at PIMFA is to help policies and systems to become more accessible, just, and equitable to all members of the society. When not at work, Nyan could be found collecting empty pint glasses in random pubs in East London.

Paul Stockton

Paul became Chief Executive of Rathbone Brothers Plc in May 2019. Prior to this, he was group finance director from 2008 to 2018 and Managing Director of Rathbone Investment Management from May 2018. He qualified as a chartered accountant with PriceWaterhouse in 1992. In 1999 he joined Old Mutual Plc as group financial controller, becoming director of finance in 2001 and finance director of Gerrard Limited eight months later. Two years after the sale of Gerrard in 2005 he left to work initially for Euroclear and, subsequently, as a divisional finance director of the Phoenix Group. He was formerly a non-executive director of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Philip Allen

Having led learning teams at the Institute of Risk Management, The British Bankers Association and most recently at UK Finance where he developed learning academies on Vulnerability, Financial Crime and Conduct & Culture, Philip is considered a leading authority in L&D within financial services. At PIMFA, Philip's responsibility is to design and deliver a suite of innovative learning solutions that not only support members to meet their regulatory obligations but help them develop the skills and talents their staff need to take advantage of digital transformation. A qualified trainer, Philip was awarded Fellowship of The Learning Performance Institute in 2018.

Ray Tuffield

Ray has a wealth of experience in financial services having been directly involved in the provision of financial advice since 1978. He is the founder and managing partner of Courtney Havers LLP a firm of independent financial advisers and financial planners based in Kent.

Richard Adler - Chief Commercial Officer

Richard Joined PIMFA (then known as the Wealth Management Association) in January 2017 as Director of Strategic Partnerships. His areas of responsibility at PIMFA include membership and business development. Preceding this he was Relationship Director at the British Bankers Association (BBA) for almost four years. He looked after all aspects of membership and relationship management at Bank and associate CEO level, and was formerly Director of Financial & Professional Services at TheCityUK. He was also a Board Director of BBA GOLD Limited an Operational Loss Risk Platform which he helped convert from a membership business to a Limited company and took to profitably in year 1. Prior to that Richard was Director of Institutional Sales at Cofunds, the Funds Platform, and has held a number of senior positions, including the formation of Allfunds Bank in the UK. Richard has worked in Financial Services for 37 years, in a career spanning Stockbroking, Financial Planning ,Custody, Asset Management and Banking.

Richard Wilson

Richard has 25 years' experience leading scaled international service and transformation delivery in retail and wholesale banking and broking financial services. He spent 13 years with Societe Generale CIB in various roles in London, New York and Paris, including Finance, Operations, CTO and Data. Richard then spent 12 years with Newedge, the global derivatives broker, one of the 30 UK systemic risk firms, where he was CTO, then CEO and ultimately Chairman, responsibility for both multiple firm acquisitions and integrations, and delivering award winning service. More recently Richard was CAO of the Co-operative Bank from May 2015 - May 2016, where he led the bank's operating model transformation and banking operations. Richard became CEO of interactive investor (ii) in March 2017 and has been an ii Board Director since October 2015.

Sarah McGuffick

Sarah has worked in financial services regulation for over 30 years. Having read History at Cambridge, Sarah joined the London Stock Exchange/The Securities Association and spent several years drafting conduct of business policy/rules. After 5 years of working in compliance for a major UK Group involved in fund management, stockbroking and wealth management, Sarah moved into the world of trade associations, managing the regulatory policy work of PIMFA's predecessor body (APCIMS) and taking on the role of Director of Securities & Investment at the London Investment Banking Association. Sarah has spent the last 15 years as a regulatory consultant - as well as working for APCIMS/WMA/PIMFA since 2004 across a wide range of policy areas and projects, her clients have included various wealth management firms and a major firm of compliance consultants. Sarah joined the permanent staff of PIMFA as Lead Regulatory Policy Adviser in 2018.

Sarah Soar

Sarah has 35 years' experience in investment and wealth management having previously worked for Seymour Pierce Butterfield, Brewin Dolphin and JM Finn. She has held roles ranging from Investment Manager, Head of Office, Regional Managing Director, National Director, Business Development Director and Head of Investment Management. She was the first woman to be appointed to the board of Brewin Dolphin Holdings PLC, a FTSE 250 company. Sarah currently sits on the board of PIMFA, the trade body of the wealth management industry, and is Chair of its Nomination Committee. Sarah is also on the Council of the Institute of Directors (IOD) where she also sits on the Nomination Committee. In the past she has held external roles such as Chair of Governors of St Francis School, Pewsey and Chair of the Marie Curie Spring Arts Committee. Married with two daughters, Sarah is a strong supporter of diversity and inclusion and is a mentor to a number of young women in the wealth management industry. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, yoga, Pilates, reading, travel, theatre and walking her Great Dane.

Sheena Gillett

Sheena has worked within the financial services industry for over 15 years. She is knowledgeable in driving positive change through the creation and implementation of effective strategy and leadership, and is experienced in organisational re-branding and M&A activity. She holds a combined honours BSc in Psychology and Sociology and an Executive MSc in International Marketing from King's College, London which she studied for while working full time at PIMFA. She also recently achieved MCIM status at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). Sheena joined PIMFA (formerly the Wealth Management Association) in November 2010. Over the last 10 years her team has implemented major organisational restructuring - including three new websites, the introduction of content management and client relationship management tools, e-marketing capabilities, e-commerce and CPD event modules. Sheena oversaw all the communication elements related to the organisation's re-brand in 2013 and the merger with APFA in 2017. She is currently responsible for PIMFA's media relations, brand management, projects, content creation, social media, database and website management, marketing and publications. Her last role was at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) where she worked in marketing, communications and event management. Prior to this she worked at Euroclear SA/NV UK & Ireland (EUI) and National Savings and Investments (NS&I) with roles in similar areas.

Simon Harrington

Simon joined PIMFA in November 2017 as a Senior Policy Adviser with a focus on public policy and long term savings. He has previously worked at the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) and the Treasury in a variety of roles working on a number of issues including automatic enrolment, pension freedoms and the UK's response to the financial crisis. Simon has a strong interest in long term savings issues with a particular focus on overcoming behavioural barriers and the support structures that can be put in place in order to help and encourage a thriving savings culture in the UK.

Stephen Reinhardt

Stephen joined PIMFA in August 2023 as Senior Conference Producer, looking after content and speaker requirements across PIMFA's events portfolio. Stephen is an experienced content strategist and event curator, joining PIMFA from Rolls-Royce, and having previously spent a number of years running event and training agendas at UK Finance. Stuart is a sales and distribution professional with 24 years' experience working in the financial advice sector across directly authorised, introduced and appointed representative business models. As Managing Director of The Openwork Partnership, Stuart is the Executive responsible for the commercial relationships with Openwork's 730 appointed representative firms and its additional businesses 2plan and Owl Financial. He holds SMF responsibility for proposition, marketing, recruitment, and advice distribution, and is a board director of Openwork Limited and 2plan Wealth Management, the group's two regulated distribution entities. Stuart started his career as a financial adviser at Britannia Building Society and Legal and General before moving into senior management roles where he was responsible for key national distribution relationships. For the eight years prior to joining Openwork in February 2022, he was Managing Director of Newcastle Financial Advisers Ltd, one of The Openwork Partnership's largest Partner advice businesses. Additionally, during 2020 and 2021 Stuart also chaired the Openwork LLP Shareholder Council, which represents the shareholder interests of LLP member-owners, and was a director of Openwork Holdings Ltd.

Tracey is Deputy Chief Executive of Handelsbanken Plc, the UK arm of Handelsbanken Group. Tracey started her career at Barclays where she worked across the UK latterly in a variety of senior positions within the corporate and wealth management divisions. Tracey joined Handelsbanken in 2003 and accelerated her career quickly becoming Senior Vice President and Head of Northern UK. During this time Tracey was entrusted to lead an acquisition team to identify and acquire an investment and wealth management business. After the successful acquisition of Heartwood (a wholly owned subsidiary of Handelsbanken Plc), Tracey was appointed CEO in 2014. During Tracey's tenure as CEO, the firm received numerous awards for its global multi-asset funds, wealth management solutions, and as Best Private Bank. In 2019 Tracey took on the position of Deputy CEO of Handelsbanken Plc. Tracey is also a Board member of the Chartered Institute for Securities And Investment (CISI). Yasmin Ataullah

In her role as senior policy adviser, Yasmin will be working closely with PIMFA's Head of Regulatory and Compliance, Alex Roberts on issues relating to financial crime and vulnerable customers, with a focus on PIMFA's consumer duty working group. Before joining PIMFA, Yasmin worked as a senior executive in the policy team at TheCityUK. Yasmin previously held roles in the civil service working with industry, the Commission and EU member states on cross cutting regulatory issues. Yasmin also worked at a lobby company, a policy forum, and on the parliamentary estate.
