Dr Parkin-Smith initially qualified as a chiropractor in South Africa, after which he worked as both a university academic and chiropractor across South Africa, UK and Australia for 13 years. He completed a MSc (Clin Neuro) and a Doctorate (DrHC) while working in the UK, at University College and King's College, London, respectively. He read medicine as a mature student at Bart's & the Royal London School of Medicine, University of London, and qualified in 2007. He completed his medical Internship in the UK before immigrating to Australia, where he subsequently undertook his postgraduate medical training. He is now living with his family in Busselton, where he and his family intend to remain, while practicing full-time as a GP. He continues to participate in academic practice and published 2-3 research papers yearly in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Apart from practicing as a GP, his special interest areas are chronic spinal pain, musculoskeletal medicine, mental health and occupational medicine. Dr Mark Wood graduated from Cambridge University in 1989 and has worked as a full time GP in the UK for over 30 years, developing enormous experience in the full range of GP specialist skills including chronic disease management, child health, frailty, multi-system disease, men's health, and minor surgery. After six years of leading England's GPs at a national level, he has relocated to WA with his Australian wife, Shelagh, to be closer to her family and to enjoy everything that WA has to offer. Dr Shelagh McCormick is an experienced GP having practiced for over 30 years. Shelagh is originally from WA, having grown up in Perth and she graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1986. She is dual qualified in General Practice, having completed GP training in WA and in the UK. She enjoys being a generalist but has a special interest in menopause. She is also interested in women's health and preventive medicine; frailty; children and young people. Outside of work, Shelagh is delighted to be back in her home state after working in the NHS for over 20 years. She enjoys walking, improving her culinary skills, yoga, cycling and gardening. She is also keen to improve her French language skills, and further her interest in European medieval history.
