Andrea Zeek is the assistant director of research communications for IU School of Medicine. In her role, Andrea works closely with the Executive Associate Dean for Research Affairs, researchers across the school, and her colleagues in the Office of Strategic Communications to elevate IU School of Medicine's research reputation. Andrea first joined IU in 2012 and has held various communications roles throughout the university, including the Office of the Vice President for Communications and Marketing and the Office of the Vice President for Research. She has also worked as a science writer at the University of Iowa and as a newspaper reporter in Indiana. Jay L. Hess, MD, PhD, MHSA, is the 10th dean of Indiana University School of Medicine. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Hess is a hematopathologist and one of the nation's leading researchers in the epigenetics of leukemia. Dr. Padma Portonovo is the Director of Indiana University School of Medicine research core services and the Think Tank Navigator for the Indiana Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute (Indiana CTSI). Gustavo is an Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development and holds an academic appointment in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology as a professor. He also holds an appointment in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. He is also the Director of Faculty Mentoring in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the co-principal investigator for the NIH funded IMSD at IU School of Medicine training program for graduate students. He performed a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular parasitology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Within Faculty Affairs and Professional Development, Gustavo directs the Program to Launch Underrepresented in Medicine Success (PLUS), a two-year cohort professional and leadership development program for early stage faculty. In addition, he focuses his efforts on professional development of faculty engaged in biomedical and translational research. He enjoys working with faculty to help them achieve their professional and career goals. Neil H. Perdue, PhD, is senior executive advisor to the dean in the Office of the Executive Vice President for University Clinical Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine. In this role, he serves as primary advisor to Dean Jay L. Hess, MD, PhD, MHSA, and as a member of the executive leadership team that is responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic agenda for the school. Perdue represents the dean on a wide range of strategic, organizational and operational initiatives, including alignment with the health system, strategic communications and compliance and security matters.
Bio
Perdue joined IU School of Medicine in May 2023 after having served as executive vice president and chief strategy officer at the University of Indianapolis since 2021. He joined the UIndy president's office leadership team in 2017 when he assumed the role of chief of staff and director of strategic initiatives. He later expanded in that role to also serve as the university's first chief operating officer. Prior to his work as an executive leader on the president's team, Perdue served as a tenured member of the University of Indianapolis faculty as an associate professor of psychology. He joined the faculty in 2009 as an assistant professor. During his time as teaching faculty, he served as director of undergraduate programs, assistant dean of academic programs, and associate dean of the College of Applied Behavioral Sciences.
Perdue is a 2002 graduate of Butler University, with a bachelor's degree in communication studies. He completed his graduate education at Indiana University-earning a master's degree in counseling and counselor education in 2004, an education specialist degree in mental health counseling in 2005, and a PhD in learning and developmental sciences in 2009.

Paul M. Wallach, MD, a nationally recognized leader in academic medicine, was named executive associate dean of educational affairs and institutional improvement for Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Wallach was previously vice dean for academic affairs and professor of medicine for Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. In his prior role, Dr. Wallach oversaw education and student programs for the medical school. Having served on national boards and providing leadership to professional licensure, accreditation, and test developed and governance activities for more than 20 years, Dr. Wallach is highly regarded for his expertise in both instructional design and evaluation.
