DISPURSAL

The EU-funded 7th Framework Programme Level-0 project entitled Distributed Propulsion and Ultra-high By-Pass Rotor Study at Aircraft Level, or, DisPURSAL, was formally concluded on 31 January 2015. Coordinated by Bauhaus Luftfahrt, this 2-year project involved partners from the Central Institute for Aviation Motors (CIAM, Russia), ONERA and Airbus Group Innovations (Germany). Moreover, the project benefited from expert advice given by an Industrial Advisory Board comprising representatives from Airbus Group Corporate Technical Office, Airbus Defence and Space, MTU Aero Engines, DLR and ONERA. The main aim of DisPURSAL was to study the practical implementation of distributed propulsion as a realistic system solution and examine overall aircraft performance benefits.
