KRAENION - Key Persons

Binu Mathew

Binu served as a Senior Scientist in Apple's Exploratory Design Group for 10 years during which he invented and prototyped far-out technologies and lead the rapid transition of technology solutions to products. While most of his work is "classified", he designed the key algorithms for image registration that made HDR photography on the iPhone possible. He architected machine learning software (specifically, the predecessor of this API) that shipped on millions of Apple devices. He was also the architect of low-power ML hardware blocks present on some iPhone and Apple Watch SoCs. Prior to Apple, Binu founded Satva Designs, a machine learning software company. Binu received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Utah and did post-doctoral research at Stanford University. His dissertation focused on computer architecture for accelerating vision and speech recognition.
