Angela is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur who founded Bargas Environmental Consulting (Bargas) in 2012 to combine her passions for natural sciences and for supporting sound development and growth in California. Bret currently serves as President of the Yolo County Community Foundation Board of Directors and is Chair of the Investment Committee for the Sacramento Region Community Foundation.
Throughout his 45-year career, Bret has contributed significantly to business success at numerous organizations of varied size and purpose, among them a Fortune 50 firm, a leading investments consulting firm, a major research university, nationally recognized nonprofits, an innovative municipality and an arts organization.
As a Managing Director, Bret served as a member of the broader management team for 18 years at Cambridge Associates. He guided health care, higher education, and foundation clients as they implemented customized endowment strategies. Simultaneously, he also worked to integrate and strengthen the firm's "back-office" units (both in the U.S. and internationally) necessary to support the company's consulting practice. In this capacity, he managed 250 employees across five departments.
Previously, Bret pioneered the growth of a second line of business for Sallie Mae, developing and marketing new public finance products that were well-received by higher education and healthcare clients. That product line ultimately generated 25 percent of the firm's annual revenue. For his efforts, he was recognized as Banker of the year in 1991. Upon graduation from business school, Bret served as an Associate in the Public Finance Department with the bulge-bracket firm, First Boston.
After moving back to Davis in 2014, Bret served for two years as Executive Director of Tuleyome, a nonprofit conservation organization based in Woodland most noted for working to establish and protect the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.
For 23 years Bret served in various capacities on the Board of Trustees of the award-winning Studio Theatre, the third largest nonprofit theater in Washington, DC. In the mid-1970s, during the City of Davis' early innovative efforts in land use and energy conservation policies, Bret served seven years on the Planning Commission, ultimately stepping down as Chairman to start his MBA program.
For over 30 years, Bret has served in many capacities across the UC Davis campus, including providing volunteer leadership for the Cal Aggie Alumni Association Board of Directors, UC Davis Foundation Board of Trustees, the Arboretum GATEways Advisory Council, the Humanities and Arts Advisory Council. He has served on the College of Letter and Science Dean's Advisory Council since 2006 acting as Chair from 2010-2013. In 2011, Bret was recognized for his volunteer service to UC Davis, the Cal Aggie Alumni Association and the UC Davis Foundation with the Jerry Fielder Memorial Award - the most prestigious award the alumni association awards each year.

Cassandra provides strategic counsel to Lucas Public Affairs' clients from all sectors and industries and guides a team of accomplished public affairs professionals in leading strategic communications and public affairs campaigns on clients' behalf.
Cassandra has served in leadership roles in the public and private sectors in Sacramento and in Washington, DC. In 2014, she launched 3.14 Communications, LLC, a full-service communication consultancy with clients in a range of sectors. She began her career at the Food Marketing Institute and directed government relations operations for the California Grocers Association and the California Retailers Association. As senior vice president for APCO Worldwide, Cassandra co-led the agency's global food and consumer products practice group. In 2003, Cassandra was appointed deputy chief of staff to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and served as a member of his post-election transition team. She is a former political director and corporate affairs vice president for the California Chamber of Commerce, where she launched the JobsPAC, ChamberPAC, and the Coalition for California Jobs.
Cassandra brings crisis management, corporate communication, message development, and issue/political campaign experience to the firm. Since 2016, she's been a lead facilitator, throughout the country, for the American Leadership Forum's (ALF) Leading Consciously trainings, providing insights into unconscious (implicit) bias and its impact on societal structures and institutions.

Donna Courville specializes in estate planning for individuals who want to transfer their wealth to their families, transition family businesses or leave charitable legacies. Jonathan Lederer, CFA | Director at Mission Creek Capital Partners. In his role at Mission Creek, Mr. Lederer provides investment management and advisory services on a discretionary basis for institutional, private clients and other advisors.

Kate's practice focuses on foundational and complex estate and gift planning, tax planning, and post-death trust administration. She has extensive experience working with blended families, same-sex couples, unmarried couples, and families with special needs. Additionally, she works with clients to structure irrevocable tax-planning trusts, including grantor trusts, ILITs, GRATs, SLATs, QPRTs and charitable trusts. Her tax practice includes preparing estate and gift tax returns and representing clients in estate and gift tax audits, as well as advising clients regarding California real property tax planning. Kate also advises clients regarding business succession planning by designing and structuring plans to efficiently and effectively transfer family businesses to the next generation, as well as "estate freeze" transactions to ease the tax burden of doing so. Kathy McKim is a talented executive with over 30 years of experience in corporate external affairs, employee engagement and sales operations. She brings a wealth of expertise with particular strengths in areas such as local and state government affairs, public-private partnership development, employee engagement and volunteerism and sales operations management.
Kathy is Senior Vice-President for the Hawksbill Group, a diversified business and communications consulting firm based in Washington, DC. She is also a Principal at Hawksbill Advisors, a Hawksbill Group Company focused on Public Policy. The Hawksbill Group provides strategic counsel in public affairs, corporate communications and business operations to corporations, philanthropic and non-governmental organizations worldwide.
Previously, Kathy served as Vice-President of External Affairs for AT&T, where she led California's statewide constituency relations and operations organization. She managed a team of professionals to build relationships across various segments, work closely with national, state and local elected officials and engage employees in the external community.
Kathy's experience also includes leading national business sales operations for global business, directing a data solutions business center supporting new and emerging technology and managing large call center operations. Kathy's passion for service and volunteerism resulted in her appointment by the Governor of California to the California Volunteers Commission where she currently serves as chair. Kay is a shareholder in Weintraub Tobin's Trusts & Estates group.

As Chief Executive Officer at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation since 2022, Kerry Wood oversees all aspects of the Foundation's work to inspire charitable giving in the capital area through its philanthropic services and impact initiatives, including its well-known program, Big Day of Giving.
Before joining the Foundation as its Chief Marketing & Donor Engagement Officer in 2018, Kerry was Director of Advancement for the Crocker Art Museum and Vice President of Resource Development and Communications for the Foundation for California Community Colleges. At the latter, she led the three-year, statewide Osher Initiative for California Community College Students fundraising campaign, which raised nearly $100 million, resulting in the largest endowment for community college student scholarships in the nation. Kerry also served with Mercy Foundation as Development and Marketing Director. For 25 years, Kerry has dedicated her career to the nonprofit sector for the benefit of the Sacramento region.
In 2008, Kerry earned the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification, a designation held by only 7,000 professionals in the world. In fall 2011, she was named "Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year" by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), California Capital Chapter, as part of National Philanthropy Day. Kwame Anku is the Founding Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Black Star Fund, an early-stage venture capital fund.
Recently named the 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Kwame is also one of only twenty-one recipients of the prestigious Aspen Ascend Fellowship from The Aspen Institute.
Kwame entered the tech industry after being personally recruited by the late legendary rock star Prince to develop his mobile app, overseeing business and development teams in Africa, Asia, and the U.S. He later went on to serve as the National Director of Strategic Development for the Prince-inspired #YesWeCode initiative, where he developed corporate and media partnerships throughout the United States.

Matthew G. Jacobs joined CalPERS as general counsel in July 2014.
He is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the Legal Office, the Enterprise Compliance Office, the Information Security Office, and our Equal Employment Opportunity Program.
Matt draws on a depth of experience in both the public and private sectors to provide guidance on complex legal issues relating to pensions, health care, legislation, investments, and corporate governance. He advises the CalPERS Board of Administration and its committees, the chief executive officer, and the executive and senior management teams. He also oversees all of CalPERS' litigation.
Prior to coming to CalPERS, Matt was a partner in the litigation practice of DLA Piper, a global law firm. Before that, he served in both private and public sector law practices, including positions with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento.

As a Senior Program Manager at the Foundation, Monica Haulman leads Big Day of Giving, the capital area's largest fundraising event and year-round nonprofit capacity-building program, and helps coordinate The Lab Nonprofit Capacity Building Program.
She brings to the Foundation program development and management expertise she developed in previous positions at Article 3 Advisors, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley Law, where she coordinated and managed the Human Rights Investigations Lab, the first university-based open-source investigations lab to discover and verify human rights violations and potential war crimes.
Originally from Nevada City, California, Monica is a proud ‘double Bear,' having received a Bachelor's in Political Science, as well as a Master's of Public Health with a focus on community development and food equity from the University of California, Berkeley. Naomi Wilson is the Foundation's Controller, responsible for accounting and financial reporting. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2023, Naomi served for seven years as Finance Director for the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera, where she worked closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in managing accounting, budget development, cash management strategies, and financial reporting.
Naomi's professional experience also includes recruiting for Finance & Accounting roles with Robert Half International and performing accounting for agricultural and transportation companies in the Sacramento Delta. Additionally, Naomi has provided consulting services to Sacramento area firms in the areas of nonprofit and forensic accounting.
Naomi is a member of the Fiscal & Administrative Officers Group (FAOG), an association for community foundation finance professionals, and Financial Executives International (FEI). In 2021, Naomi was honored as one of Sacramento Business Journal's "40 Under 40."
