Dr. Alice Kim is passionate about taking care of patients' oral health. Her gentle personality and approach to dentistry has helped many patients overcome their dental anxiety. Dr. Kim obtained a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from the University of British Columbia and then completed her general practice residency training in the Bronx, New York, one of the most undeserved areas in the US.
Dr. Kim was also involved with community outreach work, as a volunteer as well as an Outreach Coordinator. She was awarded a Leadership award for community involvement.
She enjoys hiking and travelling.
At The Dental Group, we are happy and excited to have Dr. Alice Kim join our team of super dentist in our Surrey dental office location.
Dr. Austin Chen was born in Taiwan, and immigrated to Canada at a young age. Dr. Chen was raised in Surrey, and obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) as well as his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Chen also completed an additional hands-on oral surgery externship at the University of the Pacific - Highland Hospital in Oakland, California.
Dr. Chen's has also been involved in outreach programs in the community. Dr. Chen has volunteered his time at community clinics to provide dental care to the underprivileged population in Richmond, and downtown eastside Vancouver. Dr. Chen enjoys interacting with patients and ensuring their comfort while under his care. He is always striving to improve his skills by undertaking numerous continuing education courses, and involvement in multiple study clubs.

Dr. Joy Maru began practicing dentistry in Surrey, British Columbia after completing his academic training at Northwestern University. He is currently practicing at DGCC in Surrey, BC.
Dr. Maru is a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology, as well as a board member of the Vancouver and Dental District Society (VDDS). In addition, Dr. Maru is a part-time instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. He has also served as a mentor for graduating students in the past.
Dr. Maru is a fervent advocate for dental implants as a long-term solution for missing teeth. As such, he has performed many dental implant procedures and has improved the quality of life for hundreds of patients from all over the lower mainland including Langley, Abbotsford, Vancouver, Richmond, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and from other provinces such as Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. He's also treated patients from Washington State, Germany, England, and France.
Apart from his professional interests, Joy is also an avid golfer and road cyclist.
Dr. Sapana Thakore is a Surrey Dentists who graduated from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University. Prior to dental school, she obtained her Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. She is a member of the Vancouver & District Dental Society, and both the BC and Canadian Dental Associations.
Throughout her educational career, Dr.Thakore volunteered a considerable amount of time researching oral cancer at the BC Cancer Agency. She also traveled to Guatemala to provide dental care to families in rural communities.
Dr. Thakore strongly believes in carefully assessing the needs of every individual to provide patient-centered care. Her gentle and conservative approach allows patients to feel at ease in her chair. Outside of the office, Dr. Thakore enjoys Indian classical dancing, volleyball, and traveling.
