The Sulphur Well Church has experienced the grace of God for more than a century with the rural confines of west Tennessee. The area historically is named after a historic well that now sits underneath the waters of the Tennessee River / Kentucky Lake following the building of a dam by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Thousands of people flocked to this area for the mineral water from the well and a bustling community revolved around that well, including the building of a church - the Sulphur Well Church of Christ - and a school - the Sulphur Well Academy. The Sulphur Well Church is the only remaining structure that still bears the name of Sulphur Well while the steps to the original Sulphur Well Academy sit on a privately-owned farm less than a mile from the church on Sulphur Well Academy Road.
