Frances Halahan

Frances Halahan established Halahan Associates in the mid-1990s, a consultancy with a broad experience within the conservation, collection care and collection management fields. She has worked with a wide range of clients in the UK and abroad, both in the public and private sectors. She has managed teams and budgets to deliver collection management projects, working with staff and volunteers to undertake successful projects, often with limited funding. Frances works constructively and collaboratively, aiming to provide clients with practical, meaningful and useful information to help them preserve their collection. She has extensive experience of exhibitions, carrying out condition checking and providing advice on environmental parameters, mounting and display. Halahan Associates clients have included English Heritage, Somerset House, the Gunnersbury Park Museum, Swansea Museum, the Palace of Westminster, Longleat House, the William Morris Gallery, Middleport Pottery and many more. Frances is an accredited conservator through the ICON Professional Accreditation of Conservators/Restorers scheme (PACR) and is also a Fellow of IIC (International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works).

Jennifer Dinsmore

Jennifer Dinsmore has worked as a conservation and collection care consultant with Halahan Associates for over 20 years, concerned with the assessment of collections and objects, and the environments in which they are housed for museums, galleries, churches and private collectors in Britain and elsewhere. The work involves an understanding of materials and how they change over time, the risks that objects may be exposed to and how these can be managed, as well as knowing the benefits and limitations of conservation interventions. Her experience of risk assessment encompasses the health and safety of personnel. She has worked on numerous exhibitions, providing advice on environmental conditions, transport, moving objects, display and mounting systems. Jennifer has been involved with teaching conservation at degree level for over 20 years and she also provides training in collection care. She is an accredited conservator through the ICON Professional Accreditation of Conservators/Restorers scheme (PACR).

Sue Thompson

Sue Thompson has extensive experience in all aspects of exhibition organisation, including managing and monitoring budgets, negotiating contracts, planning and scheduling. She has worked for many years with museums, institutions, historic houses and private collectors, including the Royal Academy of Arts, the National Gallery, Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery, The British Council, Houghton Hall, Burghley House and the Somerset House Trust. She has exceptional people skills and works with diverse stakeholders and agencies such as artists, designers, curators, conservators, technicians, lighting engineers, contractors, transport agents and insurance companies. Additional personal qualities include achieving goals under pressure, delivering projects on budget, prioritising workloads and multi-tasking.
