INSPIRING SCIENCE - Key Persons

Dr Anne Buckley

I have a first degree and PhD in chemistry and am an experienced secondary school science teacher. In 2007 I started 'Science Stars' and have been running science clubs and workshops in some Wirral and Cheshire schools since then. From 2008-2015 I was a Primary Science Consultant Teacher at the Discovery City Learning Centre in Prenton, Wirral, teaching and developing a range of science and IT workshops. Kim and myself developed and delivered CPD courses that have been attended by over 100 Wirral teachers. I also organised ‘The Big Science Event' a science investigation competition for primary school children. I am a member of the NW ASE committee. After graduating I worked at the ICI Research and Development Labs at Runcorn Heath and at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA.

Mrs Kim Harvey

I have a degree in Primary Education and have worked in the primary school context for over thirteen years. From 2012-2015 I worked at the Discovery City Learning Centre Wirral initially as a teacher and then as a Teaching Consultant. I developed and delivered a wide range of KS1&2 science, IT and teambuilding workshops and have used my expertise and experience to provide engaging learning experiences that are accessible to all children. Anne and I have developed CPD training for teachers that we are very proud of as they are considered to be of great benefit because they address current changes and initiatives in the curriculum. I have also worked in FE training teaching assistants and as a tutor for the childcare and education qualification.
