Oak Ridges is the name of the northern part of Richmond Hill and is a component of the Oak Ridges Moraine, which has a serious impact on the environment in its role as Ontario's "rain barrel". The Moraine also formed the infamous kettle lakes, the biggest lake situated at Bloomington Road and Bayview Avenue.
