ROLF WITTMER - Key Persons

Captain Rolf Wittmer is the first man whose birth on Floreana Island has been historically documented. He was born in January 1933, a few months after his parents, Margret and Heinz Wittmer, ended a long trip from Germany to the island of Floreana. The Wittmer family settled down on the island and with great endurance overcame incredible hardships and sometimes an almost unbearable loneliness. They set up a new home on this heavenly island.
