Ms Jilian (May) McLaren

The Woodford Clinic is owned and operated by Ms Jilian (May) McLaren. Originally from China, Jilian grew up in a small rural village, where as a teenager she developed an interest in and passion for using Chinese herbal medicine. She was particularly influenced by her family's use of traditional remedies, many of which have been in use for countless generations. After marrying and moving to the UK, Jilian began to study traditional Chinese medicine as an academic subject. This eventually led her to qualify with a BSc (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine with Acupuncture, jointly awarded by Beijing and Middlesex Universities. During this time she trained at London's renowned Asante Clinic, under the guidance of highly respected traditional Chinese medical practitioners who are leading experts in their specialist fields. Jilian is registered with the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture UK (ATCM). Jilian has been in private practice since 2008 and has also worked within the NHS at Middlesex University Hospital and The Whittington Hospital. In addition, in 2011 she spent two months studying and working in the Shenzhen Renmin Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in China, the largest and busiest hospital in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, where she broadened her experience to many new areas of treatment. In her practice, Jilian combines acupuncture with Chinese herbal medicine and other traditional Chinese therapies according to her patients' needs, including cupping, moxibustion and massage.
