William McPherson

Job Titles:
  • Project Manager
William has been a part of Cambridge Construction for nearly 10 years. He was employed to drive the grader in 2004, but immediately proved to have a skill set that far outweighed that of the role. His work ethic and management skills surpassed those expected of him, and as a result, in 2005 when the company changed hands he became a shareholder and project manager of the company. Taking on day to day handling of contracts, his responsibilities including; operating, surveying, contract management and for the past seven years, as Director. William began his civil construction days at the age of 7, sitting on the side of his grandfathers bulldozers in Auckland. This giving him the opportunity to observe and develop his knowledge of the industry, an opportunity he willingly accepted. In 1995 he made the decision to take this on as a career in paid employment. Taking on a role with a civil engineering firm, he quickly made his way to driving excavators and working on some major Auckland projects at the time, including the north harbour stadium and the Americas cup village to name a few. William travelled over the United Kingdom for 12 months, where he worked, experienced and developed as a person, returning to the industry with a fresh perspective on life and his goals. In mid 2002 he worked on the Manukau treatment ponds, driving one of the excavators that removed the last sea wall in record time, (ironically his grandfather had built the wall some forty years prior!) Such large scale projects William has tackled in the past have lead him to develop a diverse skill set to which he applies in the industry with care, and consideration. William continues to actively develop his knowledge of the industry today; this vast knowledge having been demonstrated useful on many occasions, making him an important asset to the Cambridge Construction.
