Abby Slater joins the firm as our office runner fresh off her 2022 graduation from Sussex Central High School. She started with the firm on a part-time basis during summers and on a co-op program with the school. Her friendly and outgoing personality has led to her joining the firm full-time. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Alison Emerson

Alison was born in Havre De Grace, Maryland but soon after moved to Georgetown, Delaware where she was raised. She graduated from Sussex Central High School in 1995. After graduation, she was hired as a runner/receptionist at Sergovic, Ellis & Shirey. It was there she learned hands-on the ins and outs of estate planning and estate administration. Alison went on to work for the State of Delaware for a couple years as an Administrative Assistant and she also served as a Clerk Supervisor in the Sussex County Register of Wills Office for four years. Alison joined the firm in July of 2017 coming full circle to work with a lot of the same people she had years before. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, crafting and spending time with her kids, Austin and Abby.

Allison West

Allison, a lifelong Sussex County resident, joined the firm in July 2020. She is a graduate of Indian River High School and Wesley College where she obtained her Bachelors of Science degree with a concentration in Marketing. Allison's career started in Maryland where she learned all the ins and outs of Real Estate from Listing to Closing and everything in between. When she is not working she enjoys going to the beach, traveling, painting and holding the special title "Aunt Sunny" to her niece and nephews.

Amber Nelson

Bobbi has two children, Stacey and Scott, and twin grandchildren, Emma and Jacob. She enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Brandy Burton

Brandy is a native of the Eastern Shore, born and raised in Snow Hill, MD. However, has made Millsboro, DE her home for the past 15 years with her husband, Kevin, and two children. Brandy comes to us with over 8 years of settlement experience in both Maryland and Delaware. She enjoys tackling title issues and has extensive knowledge in short sales, foreclosures, new construction, and everything in between. Brandy was a licensed Realtor for over 14 years, but her passion is guiding clients through the settlement process, as effectively and efficiently, as possible. When she is not working, Brandy enjoys the beach, fishing with her son, Talan, and taking long walks with her pugs "Bob and Bella". Brandy recently joined our firm in June of 2021, as a Real Estate Paralegal.

Christine (Chris) Lewis

Chris is a native of Sussex County Delaware, residing in Blades with her husband Bob and their son Tyler. Chris is a graduate of Seaford Senior High School. She attended Delaware Technical and Community College before working at the law firm of Tunnell & Raysor, P.A. in Georgetown, Delaware as a file clerk. In 1989, Chris was hired by John A. Sergovic, Jr. P.A. as an Administrative Assistant in the litigation department and today continues to work for John A. Sergovic, Jr. Chris enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she and her husband enjoy camping and spending time outdoors.

Clare Zerhusen

Clare was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. In Baltimore, she was a bookkeeper for over 25 years in the construction industry. She then moved to the Long Neck area in 2007 to run her own Scrapbook Store in Bethany Beach. After closing the store in 2012, she went back to bookkeeping for a builder in Lewes, then worked five years as a tax accountant for an accounting firm in Milford, Delaware. In 2018, she joined Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens, PA. She sits on the Board for Compassionate Hearts - A Non-profit that provides Equine Assisted Psychotherapy at no cost to those unable to access services. In addition to fundraising, she spends her time exercising, crafting, traveling to Atlanta to visit her two granddaughters and supporting her church.

David J. Weidman

Dave was born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia (B. A. in History, 1989), George Mason University (Masters of Public Administration, 1993) and the University of Tennessee College of Law (J. D. 1996), where he was a member of the Law Review and author of two published scholarly articles. Dave was admitted to the Delaware Bar and the U. S. Court for the District of Delaware in 1997 after he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable William S. Lee and T. Henley Graves in the Delaware Superior Court between 1996 and 1997. Prior to joining Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens, P.A. as a shareholder, he was a partner in Hudson, Jones, Jaywork & Fisher for twelve years. Dave is a member of both the Delaware Bar and the Sussex County Bar Associations, and he focuses his practice on litigation in all Delaware Courts in the following areas: business litigation, property litigation, family law, estate litigation, homeowners' association and condominium law, corporate governance and construction litigation, including mechanic's liens.

Diana L. J. Steelman

Diana is from Seaford, Delaware. She attended Delaware Technical and Community College where she earned several of her Associate Degrees. She began her career in the legal field at Hudson, Jones, Jaywork & Liquori but soon obtained a paralegal position at Tunnell & Raysor, P.A. It was here that she gleaned her most of her knowledge in various areas of the law. She has worked for several other firms in the area until she found her way to Deirdre O'Shea McCartney as her paralegal and assistant. She is very active within the Delaware Paralegal Association and loves speaking with young people about a career as a paralegal. Eileen Nesko

Purnell, II assisting with estate planning and estate administration matters.

Elizabeth (Beth) Stewart

Born and raised in Delaware, Beth began her career in the legal field in 1999 as a Legal Assistant with Hudson Jones Jaywork & Fisher where she assisted several attorneys within the firm and where she first had the opportunity to work with attorney David. J. Weidman, Esquire. After marrying into the military and moving to Guam and then to San Antonio, Texas, she returned to Dover, Delaware and joined the litigation team at Barros McNamara Malkiewicz & Taylor. After relocating to Sussex County, she joined the Law Office of Edward Gill, P.A. In July of 2020, Beth was hired by David J. Weidman, Esquire as a Family Law/Litigation Administrative Assistant and continues to work for David J. Weidman, Esquire. Beth enjoys spending time with her friends and family and going to the beach. George B. (Buck) Smith

George B. (Buck) Smith, Esquire, is a practicing Delaware attorney since 1982. He is a member of the bars of the Supreme Court of the State of Delaware, the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Delaware and the United States Tax Court. A graduate of St. Andrew's School, Middletown, Delaware, the University of Delaware (B.Sc. Accounting), and the Widener University School of Law (J.D.), Buck worked for the Internal Revenue Service for eleven years, first as a Revenue Agent, then as a District Conferee, and finally as an Appeals Officer. Ginger Henriksen

Ginger was born and raised in Lewes, Delaware. She is a 1979 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School. After graduating, she enrolled in the administrative secretarial program at Delaware Technical and Community College wherein she graduated in the class of 1981. She worked as a legal secretary until 2000. At that time, she tried a new adventure in opening and operating a men's clothing store in downtown Lewes. After closing that store in 2004, she took some time off and in January 2011, she joined our law firm as a receptionist. She has been married to her husband, Jack over 30 years and they have one son. Ginger enjoys spending time with her family, entertaining, going to the beach, fishing, bird hunting, and shooting sporting clays.

Heather Barlow

Heather is originally from central Indiana but has called Georgetown home for over 10 years. Heather is a 1996 graduate from Brown County High School. After graduation, Heather worked for many years in management in the hospitality industry before embarking on her career in the legal field. Heather has worked in the legal field in both Indiana and Delaware supporting attorneys in a number of legal areas before focusing her attention on estate administration. Heather resides in Georgetown with her husband, a police officer for the Town of Georgetown, and her two children Raiden and Rider. In her free time, Heather enjoys gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

Joan Tyndall

Born and raised in Sussex County, Joan grew up in Long Neck, before marrying and moving to Georgetown, the County Seat, for 25 years. Joan now resides in Milton with her husband and daughter. A graduate of Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, she studied at Delaware Technical and Community College before beginning her career in the legal field at the Law Firm of Tunnell & Raysor in 1976. During this time, she began working with John Sergovic in the real estate department. In 1988, Joan followed Mr. Sergovic to John A. Sergovic, Jr. P.A. as his real estate paralegal and has continued with the firm, now known as Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney& Owens, P.A., for a forty-six (46) year career in real estate. For seven years, Joan was on the adjunct faculty staff of Delaware Technical & Community College teaching the administrative side of a course in Real Property law. Joan is an affiliate member and maintains the website for the Sussex County Women's Council of Realtors. She was a volunteer with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce for over 12 years as well as a Board Member of the Historic Georgetown Association. In addition, Joan volunteers with the Sussex County Return Day Committee. In 2010, Joan was named the Georgetown Chamber Volunteer of the Year. Joan enjoys volunteering with local non-profits, working in her greenhouse and spending time with her family, especially her husband of 46 years Lloyd "Sonny" Tyndall and her grandchildren, Austin, Liam and Ella.

Kristyn was born and raised in Sussex County. She crossed the county line into Kent when she moved into her first home with her husband and four fur-babies. Kristyn graduated from Sussex Technical High School in 2013 with a focus in criminal justice. She then attended Delaware Technical and Community College where she graduated in 2015 with her Associates of Applied Science in General Business. While at Delaware Tech, she was a member of Alpha Beta Gamma and the National Business Honors Society. Since college, she has pursued many different paths, such as dog grooming, Zumba Fitness instructor, and banking, to becoming a part of the team at Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney and Owens, P.A. in March of 2022. Linda Daly

Linda was born and raised on Long Island New York, then moved to Pennsylvania and resided there for twenty-two years. While in Pennsylvania she worked for a Certified Public Accountant for eighteen years. Linda then moved to Delaware in April of 2021 where she resides with her husband Tom of thirty-three years. They have two grown children Dana who resides in Texas and Gregory who resides in Tennessee. Linda joined Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens, P.A. in June of 2021.

Maria A. Anderson

She then moved to Laurel, Delaware where she has lived for the last 10 years. Rachel Bleshman

Rachel Bleshman is an associate attorney at Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens, P.A. where she has been in private practice since 2017. Rachel speaks Spanish and her practice includes elder law, estate planning and administration, real estate, adult guardianships, and fiduciary litigation. Rachel joined the Delaware Bar in 2014 and the New York Bar in 2015 after graduating from Tulane University Law School. At Tulane, Rachel was a Dean's Scholarship Recipient and served as President of the Public Interest Law Foundation and Senior Articles Editor of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal. Rachel also earned the Tulane 34 Award for academic excellence, service, and leadership. Following graduation, Rachel clerked for the Honorable Kenneth M. Millman of the Sussex County Family Court from 2013 through 2016. Rachel then served as a Staff Attorney for Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. specializing in victim immigration law. Rhonda F. Timmons

Shannon Carmean Burton

Shannon Carmean Burton is a Delaware licensed attorney and Vice-President of the law firm Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens, P.A. Shannon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ursinus College in 1999 and her Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law in 2003. After graduating from law school in 2003, Shannon served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable E. Scott Bradley at the Superior Court of the State of Delaware, in and for Sussex County. In 2004, Shannon entered into private practice and later formed Sergovic & Carmean, P.A. with John A. Sergovic, Jr. in 2007. The firm, now known as Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens, P.A., has expanded in size and practice areas over the years and remains committed to Sussex County and the greater Delaware community through its involvement in and support of business and charitable organizations in the local community. Shannon's practice primarily focuses on residential and commercial real estate transactions and land use matters. Shannon was recognized in the November 2010 issue of Delaware Today as one of Delaware's Top Lawyers and was accepted to the Martindale-Hubbell Directory of Distinguished Attorneys in 2011. Sue Gambacorta

Sue was born in Tampa, FL, moving to Northern Delaware nine months later. She graduated from John Dickinson High School in Wilmington, DE, and married John Gambacorta, Jr., the following year. They spent two years living in Connecticut while John was in the U. S. Navy. After moving back to Wilmington, DE, they had and raised their daughter, April in the Bear, DE area. During those years, Sue worked for 17 years at Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell, P.A. in Wilmington, DE. They relocated to Sussex County in 2004, settling in the Long Neck area. In Sussex County Sue has spent 10 years working in the legal field for two firms before joining Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens, P.A. Sue enjoys spending time with her family and boating and going to the beach.

Wanda Lynch

Wanda was born and raised in Havre de Grace, MD. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School in 1969 and attended Havre de Grace Senior High School graduating in 1973. She moved to Georgetown in 1978 and started her title searching career training at Ticor Title in 1986 and First American Title Company. Wanda has spent the last 20 years title searching for the Law Offices of Moore & Rutt and Ellis & Szabo, respectively. She joined Sergovic Carmean Weidman McCartney & Owens part time in September 2017 and became full time in November 2017. She lives in Georgetown with her husband, Bob. She enjoys spending time with family and traveling.
