Dr. Xing Zhang is the Chief Executive Officer (US) of Arno Ventures, an investment advisory firm in Silicon Valley in the U.S. Xing has over a decade of experience in biotech R&D and investment. Xing is the venture partner at Fenox Venture Capital, a global venture capital firm headquartered in San Jose, CA with regional offices in Tokyo, Japan and Jakarta, Indonesia. Distinguished for its insights and network in the US and Japan, Fenox provides entry to the Japanese market to its portfolio companies in addition to capital investment. As the venture partner, Xing loaned his expertise and experience in biotech to Fenox and led its investment effort in the healthcare space. For example, he led the investment in AnalyticsMD, a big data healthcare startup spun off from Stanford University, which offers predictive service to hospitals to slash operational cost. In addition, he regularly offered seminars to limited partners on private equity fund incorporated in Delaware, US as well as Cayman Islands. Since 2015, Dr. Zhang has joined Applied Biological Technologies (ABT), a biotech company in Beijing, China, as executive board member. He is in charge of its international business development and strategic investment. Over the years, he has spearheaded the strategic partnership between ABT and its foreign partners, such as Oxford Nanopore Technologies (UK), ELITECH Group (Italy) and etc. Xing holds a PhD in biomedical engineering and completed his post-doc training at Harvard University. His academic research focused manipulating the biological system using nanomaterials for therapeutic ends. His work ranged from vascular diseases (e.g. coronary heart disease) to immune disorders (peptide-based vaccines) and cancer. His research was funded by National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institute of Health (NIH) and Department of Defense (DoD). Also, he is frequently invited to review scientific manuscripts by leading academic journals in biomedical engineering, for example, Biofabrication published by the Institute of Physics in the UK.
