Dr Dan Gosling

Dan graduated from the University of Nottingham medical school with honours in 2011. He undertook general ophthalmology training in Sheffield, UK, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology. He had ophthalmology specialist training in Sheffield, with special interest in cataract and glaucoma surgery, before working as a consultant ophthalmologist in Yorkshire. The opportunity of an ‘overseas' glaucoma fellowship in Auckland, led Dan to move here with his family in 2020. In 2022 he joined Milford Eye Clinic, having settled in Auckland. He provides up-to-date, expert diagnosis and treatment of cataract and glaucoma diseases, including treatment with laser and surgery. He can offer consultations on general or urgent eye problems. Dan also works within the public service as a consultant ophthalmologist at Greenlane Clinical Centre and Whangarei Hospital. Dan consults privately at Milford on a Monday and Wednesday, and at the Orewa and Warkworth branches on alternating Wednesday mornings.

Dr Nadeem Ahmad

Nadeem completed his medical degree at the Quaid-e- Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan in 1994, gaining Honours in Ophthalmology. Following his house surgeon years he underwent surgical training in Ophthalmology at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge UK, followed by registrar training in Bradford and Sheffield. He then went on to be awarded postgraduate fellowships in vitreoretinal disorders at Sheffield, Southampton, and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Nadeem joined Milford Eye Clinic in September 2009 providing services as a cataract and vitreoretinal surgeon. He has held Consultant Ophthalmologist positions at Greenlane Clinical Centre and at the Manukau Super Clinic since December 2008, and has also spent two years as a consultant vitreoretinal Surgeon in the UK. His main surgical interest is the management of retinal pathology, particularly macular hole surgery, epiretinal membrane peeling and the repair of retinal detachments. He also treats retinal vascular disorders, diabetic retinopathy and macular disease and performs cataract surgery. Nadeem is available for consultations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Milford Eye clinic and alternate Mondays and Thursdays at the Orewa clinic.

Dr Tahira Malik

Tahira graduated from St. Andrew's University and Manchester Medical School, followed by comprehensive ophthalmic training across various hospitals in the UK, including Hereford, West Midlands, Charing Cross, Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals. Tahira's specialised ophthalmic training took place at the Tayside University Hospitals in Scotland, with posts in Dundee, Perth, and Fife. Tahira undertook further subspecialty training in glaucoma and medical retina. In 2003, Tahira moved to Auckland, where she became a Senior Medical Officer - Specialist Consultant at the Greenlane Clinical Centre. Tahira has been instrumental in Waitemata's diabetic retinal screening program since 2003 and was involved in the developing regional ophthalmology services until 2009. Additionally, she held a position as a clinical senior lecturer at the University of Auckland, contributing to the education and training of medical and optometry students, doctors, and other clinical staff. Tahira was granted Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1994 and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology in 2009, her main interests lie in managing macular and retinal pathologies, with a focus on conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disorders. Tahira is known for her excellent communication skills and empathetic approach to patient care. She values the long-term relationships formed while striving for the best outcomes for her patients. Tahira has been the Milford Eye Clinic's locum Ophthalmologist for many years and in December 2023 she joined the team permanently. Tahira consults on a Tuesday at Milford and a Friday at Orewa.
