Amy Merritt

Amy has lived in the Metroplex since 2002 and received a BA in English from the University of North Texas. She spent 10 years working as a teacher in Irving and Garland and is excited to join the Acorn to Oak team. She and her husband have 3 kids, ages 17, 7, and 5. She enjoys serving at their church, reading, cooking, and playing board games in her spare time.

Kenne Sparks

Job Titles:
  • Skills Trainer
Kenne was raised in Texas and has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Texas A&M University. He has over 10 years experience as a secondary reading teacher and private tutor, and 15 years experience as a cognitive trainer. His work includes helping those with learning and cognitive disabilities, high functioning autism, and dyslexia/dysgraphia. His passion is helping struggling readers become avid, fluent readers. He also uses cognitive training to help improve memory, processing speed and self-regulation. In his free time, he enjoys acting, comedy and the visual arts, as well as cooking!

Leesa Potts

Leesa joins Acorn to Oak with 15 years experience in education. She has a Bachelor's degree in Business Education and a Master's degree in Educational Technology. In addition to her work as a Skills Trainer, Leesa is also working toward a Master's degree in counseling. Leesa enjoys hiking, gardening and bargain shopping! She and her husband, Wes, are host parents to international students and have had the privilege of hosting 8 students from 7 different countries so far! Leesa loves learning and hopes to inspire the same love in others.

Matthew Naramor

Matthew has a B.S. in business from Pepperdine University and is currently working on his Masters in Psychology from Grand Canyon University with plans to earn his Doctorate in Psychology. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar, grilling, and flipping houses.

Mike Moore

Mike is an experienced educator with over 18 years in teaching and learning at both elementary and secondary levels. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication and a Masters in Education. Mike is passionate about supporting students in developing their reading, writing, and speaking skills. In addition, he enjoys coaching social and relational skills as well as interpersonal communication. His hobbies include hiking, playing chess, and singing karaoke.
