Matthew C. Wood

Matthew has conducted over seven hundred fire investigations as lead investigator. He is an inveterate puzzle solver and has keen observational and analytical skills that make him ideally suited for Forensic Engineering. He is methodical and thorough in his investigation, documentation, analysis, research, and reporting. He is unbiased in his approach to each and every loss.

Matthew Crigger

Matt started with MFAL in February 2017. Matt has an Environmental Technologist Diploma from Fleming College and draws on a lifetime of experience to complete various tasks at the Barrie office. Matt handles the environmental claims including water loss cause and origin evaluations, mould, asbestos, DSS, VOCs, smoke, nuisance odours, moisture mapping and monitoring, preliminary product failure evaluations, flooring damage assessments, animal infestations, and more. Matt has completed the previously mentioned evaluations in residential, commercial, and institutional facilities including multiple long term care facilities. Matt works closely with Mike providing assistance with fire evaluations, evidence recovery and inspections, burn testing, product sourcing, microscopic evaluations and destructive examination support. Matt also provides assistance to the structural department on large claims and when safety concerns are present. Matt has developed good relationships with municipalities and restoration contractors in our service area who frequently refer Matt for IAQ assessments or other environmental related assignments. Matt receives private claims based on a reputation of identifying the direct source of the problems which have often eluded other professionals.

As a licensed engineer, Rocco is a highly skilled and results-oriented professional with 16 years experience in the field of landing gear design, manufacturing and testing. His heavy involvement in resolving component failures and defect analysis in order to mitigate potential failures is what drew him to pursue a career in forensic investigations. He has a proven ability to assess and manage complex situations and is viewed by his colleagues as a strong trouble shooter.
