Dr Mariola Prokop

Job Titles:
  • Dentist
Dr Mariola Prokop qualified as a dentist 30 years ago, but first became interested in Early Intervention Orthodontics while still an undergraduate in Europe. As a general dentist, Dr Mariola could clearly see how effective this particular form of treatment could be for young children and was frustrated at being unable to refer her young patients to an orthodontist for early treatment. She found it upsetting to receive referrals for tooth extractions of healthy teeth in teenagers prior to the placement of braces. As a result, she began focusing on working and studying new trends in early interceptive dental treatment in Australia, Europe and the US. Dr Mariola has always enjoyed working with children and is constantly learning so she can offer the best treatment for her young patients. She is very proud to be able to offer the choice between traditional Orthodontics as well as newer options including Functional Jaw Orthopedics ("Orthodontics without braces") and Orthotropics. She has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Dental Sleep Medicine with UWA, providing her with specialised training in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) for both children and adults. She is passionate about giving young children the very best start in life, both emotionally and physically, and experience has taught her that early intervention to treat small problems can help prevent bigger issues from developing.
