Terry Branson

Job Titles:
  • Visionary Founder
This is Terry Branson, the visionary founder of M3 Design. Hailing originally from Kansas, Terry grew up working on his family farm where he developed interests in woodworking, welding, and and working on cars along-side his dad. After acquiring a degree in Aeronautical Design at Cowley County Community College, Terry went to work at NCR developing what would have become one of the first desktop dot-matrix printers on the market. He had a remarkable ability to free-hand sketch in 3D which gave him an advantage early in his career as he could loft designs to make complex shapes by hand in the days before CAD. Shortly after NCR canned the project, his entire team moved to California to develop a similar product for Data Products, and the rest was history. It was there in the Silicon Valley that Terry fell in love with the fast-paced culture of innovation and product development. After leaving the startup scene to work in the corporate design world, Terry grew tired of the same old song and dance. He dreamed of starting a design firm that would emphasize the importance of the creative and technical sides of the product development process, where designers and engineers would work together to develop products that were both innovative and feasible. He always said his dream was a simple one: to create a cool place to work with even cooler people. So in 1996, with the support of his wife Joan, Terry took the plunge and started M3 Design. In the decades since, M3 has become one of the largest product design firms headquartered in the Southwest and boasts a reputation of excellence known around the world. Today, M3 Design stands as a testament to Terry's unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of product design and having fun while doing it for over 25 years.
