OAWD

OAWD is a unit of the Central Valley Project. The District was formed in 1954. The District started water deliveries in 1977. By 1983 the District was completed and delivering water throughout its borders. The District serves about 29,000 acres using 110 miles of pipeline and over 300 metered deliveries in the Orland and Artois area in the Sacramento Valley. OAWD receives water from 5 diversions off of the Tehama Colusa Canal. The TC Canal diverts water from the Sacramento River in Red Bluff and ends in Dunnigan, about 120 miles south. The District has a contract with the Bureau of Reclamation for 53,000 acre-feet of water annually. This amount can be reduced in drought years.
