Dr. Alex Reid

Dr. Alex Reid is a board-certified dermatologist through the American Board of Dermatology and Mohs surgeon with the American College of Mohs Surgery. He is a native of western South Dakota where he grew up biking, hiking, water skiing, and snow skiing. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John's University in Minnesota, majoring in biology and Hispanic Studies having studied a semester abroad in Spain. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan. Go Blue! After completing a one-year internship at the University of South Dakota, he completed his dermatology residency training at the University of Iowa. He completed his Mohs fellowship training at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Reid's clinical interests include surgical management of skin cancers, optimization of scar appearance, and procedural dermatology. He considers it a privilege to care for you and your family.

Dr. Ryan Freeland

Dr. Ryan Freeland is a board-certified dermatologist through the American Board of Dermatology. He is a native of Portage, Michigan and a 16-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois where he majored in biology as well as Biblical and theological studies. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine. After completing a one-year internship with the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center, he was activated into military service where he spent 12 years on active duty with the U.S. Air Force. He served for six years as a flight surgeon before completing his residency training while on active duty in San Antonio at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center. His duty stations included bases in Florida, Germany, Texas, and Washington, DC. Most recently, he served on teaching faculty at the dermatology residency program at Walter Reed Medical Center and carried an academic appointment at the military medical school in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Freeland has deployed 10 times in the service of our great country. He spent several tours in the Middle East including multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Dr. Freeland's clinical interests include medical and surgical as well as pediatric dermatology. In his personal time, he enjoys running, traveling, SCUBA diving, and watching college football. Kurt VanderVeen

Kurt VanderVeen is a board-certified physician assistant in dermatology with over 18 years of experience. He grew up in Allendale, Michigan, and now lives in Byron Center with his wife and two children. Mr. VanderVeen graduated from Grand Valley State University with a B.S. in health science and a Master's degree in physician assistant studies. He is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Kurt VanderVeen is dedicated to helping patients achieve their skin health goals and is skilled in a variety of dermatological procedures including excisions, biopsies, and cosmetic injections. He has extensive experience treating skin cancer, acne, psoriasis, eczema, rashes, and other common skin conditions. Mr. VanderVeen is a devoted husband and father and considers his family the great joy of his life. He and his wife enjoy family time especially relaxing by the pool and traveling. Kurt also enjoys fishing, running, reading, and watching movies.
