Milwaukee Journal Sentinel restaurant critic Dennis Getto voted Messina Restaurant as one of the Milwaukee area's Top New Restaurants in 2006. His reasoning for why people needed to put Messina on their "Italian list" was the fact that he felt Messina has everything - Italian entrees along with great pizza and pasta dishes.
