JACIS

Today's JACIS is the successor to the Japan Association of Air Cargo Information Systems (JACIS), an organization established in 1973 with the aim of promoting the development of International Cargo Information System (ICIS) that facilitates and accelerates the shipping process of international air freight, thereby contributing to the streamlining and rationalization of international air cargo operations. The organization's activities during its first decade focused on research, and support for development, of International Cargo Information System (ICIS), an undertaking in which Japan lagged behind other countries... In 1984, following the launch of a cargo information system under the aegis of NACCS (Nippon Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System), JACIS reoriented itself to a new mission, that of expanding access to education and information on the transport of dangerous goods by air, including the publication and sale of written materials.
