Phillip Kleven

Phillip Kleven received his Master's Degree and Graduate Professional Diploma from The Hartt School, and Bachelor's Degree from Bradley University. His principal teachers include Anton Miller and Marcia Henry Liebenow, and he also studied with James Buswell, Gregory Fulkerson, Oleh Krysa, Lara St. John, Piotr Milewski, and the Miami and St. Lawrence String Quartets. Phil has taught privately across the midwest and northeast United States since 2005, and currently teaches orchestra at South Elgin High School as well as 5th and 6th grade orchestra at several schools in Elgin School District U-46. His students have been accepted into professional ensembles, conservatories, colleges, youth orchestras and advanced school ensembles throughout the United States. To ensure timely progress and success for all students, Phil employs a unique blend of repertoire as outlined in the Royal Conservatory of Music syllabus. As a performer, Mr. Kleven has joined other outstanding musicians in performances throughout Chicago, Hartford, Boston, and New York. He has performed with Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Emanuel Ax, and has collaborated with members of the Chicago Symphony, Chicago Lyric Opera, and New York Philharmonic. He has appeared as concertmaster of the Hartt Symphony, Hartt Opera and Pit Orchestras, Wheaton Symphony and the Bradley University Symphony.
