The Magellan Biologics and Consulting history starts in 2014, when a Group of renowned experts in protein expression in mammalian cells from ExcellGene, a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization, decide to offer their expertise to the scientific community involved in discovery and pre-clinical development projects. A new company is thus established in Portugal, headquartered in Torres Novas and given the name of the most famous Portuguese explorer Magellan... As a first fruit of a joint R&D program between ExcellGene and Magellan, CHO 4Tx®, a revolutionary ready-to-use transfection kit for CHO cells is launched in 2022 and commercialized to support the scientific community discovering new horizons in Transient Protein Expression... We make Protein Expression in mammalian cells easy and efficient for the benefit of the international scientific community involved in R&D on candidate proteins either for therapeutic or diagnostic use.
